Amazing that the stuff that John got from the "Dad that passed away" lives on and wasn't just thrown in the trash. He must have been a fellow enthusiast to have kept it in such good shape so it's great to see that it's being kept that way all these years later by a great guy like John. :)

There is an ad from Toys r Us from the late 90's that is floating around the internet, and on the back page is all of the gold gaming consoles. I believe the N64 was advertised at $99

Hey there everybody. I'm the guy who put together the chiptune cover of the MJR main theme you're hearing in this video. First of all, just want to say a huge thank you to Metal Jesus for including it here. As a huge fan of the show, it's a very proud and surreal moment for me. Quite honestly, the original Metal Jesus Rocks theme is iconic... irreplaceable... and I'd even go as far to say legendary... and the very idea of trying to do it justice in the form of a cover is quite intimidating really. Obviously I'm proud of it, but totally get that not everyone's going to dig it, although I am glad to see that there are people here that really do, so thanks for your kind words. As I understand it, the inclusion of this version was just intended to mix things up a little every now and again, and believe me, as much as I like my little 8-bit rendition of it, nothing can beat the might of the original, because as they say... Metal Jesus Rocks. This really is one of the absolute best gaming RU-vid channels around, and one that has one of the better communities of passionate gamers surrounding it. It's truly a beautiful thing. If you were a fan of what you heard, there's plenty of other chiptune/instrumental covers on my channel (Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Goldeneye, Game of Thrones etc), along with dozens of original electronic pieces and various other genres. Although right now, Hotline Miami/Drive inspired synthwave seems to be my thing. New music uploaded every couple of weeks. Cheers everyone. Keep on gaming

Dude I had a neighbor, I'm not sure what his dad did, but he had a few arcade cabinets with ALL the games. So sick. I never really played those games since I was like 9 and they never got mainstream so I haven't really seen them around. Those games were gems. I remember a baseball game, fighting game, and like a monster truck racing game were my favorites.

Incredible video! I was one of those lucky kids who had a Neo Geo GOLD system growing up. There were available at Electronics Boutique for $499.99 when SNK lowered the price on them. My system came with Fatal Fury. I played it until my fingers bled. I only ever had about five games for it due to cost, but today I am so glad it has become a collector’s item. I got out of collecting for it due to the relative expense, but sometimes I wish I hadn’t .The Super Spy is the most under-rated game on that system!

I was helping a Pawn Shop owner clean up his upstairs area (where he had a lot of video game stuff stored), testing all of his consoles, helping him organize them and tell him what cords went with what systems. At the end of the day, he gave me the Sega CDX as payment for helping him. It didn't have a box or any cords, but it was a nice addition to my collection; that was about 10 years ago. I also have the NeoGeo AES (also without the box), but I just grabbed that off eBay with Magician Lord, which is like the least expensive game for the console.

Seeing the Neo Geo in arcades had the opposite effect on me than what I think the company was going for. As a teenager, I would see those cabs and have no interest in playing them because I thought it was just a home console in an arcade cabinet. I wanted to play the games you couldn't get at home like racing games and Street Fighter II (which hadn't come out for home consoles yet)

i cant blame him on not letting certain things being touched by others. i have a few pieces in my wrestling collection that i dont let anyone touch em for how rare or how nice it is. growing up getting stuff in my collection in the 90s. my oldest brother came in and wanted to use an item and either broke it or lost it and stuff like that. so he was the 1st person to be put on list to not get to touch anything. my gf growing up was alittle spoiled by parents so she didnt learn how to take care of stuff. and she still gets mad that she doesnt get to touch alot of stuff. but so far in 13 years of being together she has gotten better at taking care of stuff.

Right now I'm working on an ULTRA modification of a model 2 Genesis. I'm building a custom Sega CD front loader that sits below the model 2 Genesis, just like the model 1 Sega CD. But it doesn't end there, I've replaced the Genesis motherboard with a mini PC that runs windows 10, which I can use to run Genesis games and Sega CD games with the KEGA emulator. The Sega CD drive is actually a SATA internal dvd drive which can run actual Sega CD discs, as well as play dvds and audio CDs. Controller support is done by a dual port Genesis to USB controller adapter, which I installed in place of the original controller ports. I also installed a program that allows a USB controller to be used instead of a mouse. So now I can play Genesis and Sega CD games, PLUS being able to use it as a stand alone PC. I can watch youtube, netflix, and play DVDs on my Modded Sega Genesis! Think of it as a modern upgrade to a great classic system!

Yay Amiga CD32! Amazing! Such a lot of love for the Amiga in the UK and Europe. I was only looking at the back of a copy of Amiga Format (a UK Amiga magazine) from 1999 last night and saw that back then you could buy a brand new CD32, 7 games, 2 controllers, and on top of that an SX32 expansion which gave the CD32 a 68030 CPU at 25MHz and 8MB of RAM.... £149! You can't even get a PAL CD32 alone for much less than £300 these days and SX32s are super expensive. The CD32 by the way can be hooked up to a keyboard quite easily, either an Amiga 4000 keyboard will work, or a simple PS/2 keyboard adapter will do the job.

Just picked up a PAL CD32 with 3 controllers (2 originals) and a bunch of cd games for around £200 in Norway. It's seems like the market in UK, Germany and France are a bit pricey for this console. Better to search in Norway, Sweden and Danmark where Amiga in general had a lot of love.

The CD32 was this ][ close to getting released in America, but Commodore failed to pay a licence patent and had an injunction taken out against them. Apparently all the CD32s that were due to be sent to the US were left sitting in a warehouse in the Philippines! Anyway, that was the straw that broke the camel's back for Commodore. They weren't in great shape to begin with and ended up filing for bankruptcy shortly after. It did fairly well in the UK and Europe though. I had one as a teen, but it broken after a couple of years. I finally bought another last year for £90, unboxed though and missing a couple of screws...
@meetoo594
@meetoo594 6 лет назад
Didnt the Philippine government seize all Commodores stock of cd32`s due to debts owed as well? @32x: It wasnt a shit console, it had a fast cpu, very good graphics and colour capability and could be turned into a full on computer cheaply(for the time). It was the best selling console in the U.K. for a while and would have gone on to great things if Commodore`s American branch hadnt messed everything up. Commodore U.K. was actually doing really well when the parent company went under.
@meetoo594
@meetoo594 6 лет назад
@32x: yeah I agree with most of your points but technically the CD32 wasn't shit, Commodore America`s management was shit. It would have done very well in Europe if it was on the market long enough for decent games to be released for it.

There was this small mom & pop video store near where I lived when I was around 12-13 and the owner was a young guy in his mid-to-late 20’s and he had the Neo Geo system with those GIANT cartridges! He had it set up in the store and would let me play it with him. At the time of SNES & Genesis it was cool to see arcade-perfect graphics and joystick controllers.

Actually, the Neo•Geo Gold System didn't come packed with the memory card, however many sellers in 1990 offered one at launch when you bought the system + an extra game. The Gold System came with (the console, 2 arcade joysticks, and a game picked from Baseball Stars Pro or NAM-1975...and a few months later Magician Lord was added to make it a choice of 3_ games.)
@diegog1853
@diegog1853 6 лет назад
Hmmmm this is what i don't like that much about videos with John Hancock. The man is awesome and so is his collection, but a lot of times when you are in his game room you manly talk about the boxes, you don't show the systems. So you can't make in-hand comments. Its kind of boring to be honest, maybe the man doesn't want to take them out of the box and you have to respect that, but whats the point of having an UNsealed rare console if you don't take it out and show it. Maybe you want to show the condition of the box, but you can easily do both lol
@MetallicBlade
@MetallicBlade 6 лет назад
I agree. This was a pointless video in the sense that we didn't get to see the actual systems. Show, not tell. Good God, they're treating these systems as if they were some one-of-a-kind, holy grail tech of gaming. They're not.
@diegog1853
@diegog1853 6 лет назад
MetallicBlade yeah, in a way its like just talking about the system and showing some pictures, but some pictures are printed in boxes that they have in their hands. Again, its cool to see how the things were packaged originaly but i mainly want to see the system and i want metal jesus comenting on how it feels and in the little details. Things that you not always get if you do an google image search

Guys, the Amiga CD 32 was available state side. I had many many chances to buy one cheap at the end of it all but was in the process of trying to sell my UK Pal Amiga 1200. This of course was in the early 90's. Wish I would have bought one. I think the price for a new boxed Amiga CD 32 might have been around $89 or $99, maybe $119 dollars at the time on clearance. Not much at all. In fact, after the Amiga died out in the US in the early 90's the Amiga CD 32 could still be bought for a song and a dance for a good 4 or 5 years afterwards. They had a really hard time selling them. As far as officially or un-offically you have to take everything about the Amiga into consideration. Very few places carried Amiga's or Amiga software. Most of the games that came state-side were imports. I do remember Toy's R Us carrying C-64 software as I bought a lot of software there but I'm not sure on the Amiga stuff. Electronics Boutique carried some titles but it was mostly Mom and Pop places that again, were far and few between. So I am not sure that distinction really fits about it being "officially" released in the United States. 90% of the software was never "Officially" released in the US as well. If you could find it and buy it, it was basically "officially released." Also, please brush up on your Amiga Reverence Skills. One would expect a lot more oohhss and Ahhhss while holding the Amiga CD 32 on top of a few "we are not worthy" bows. The Amiga was simply an amazing for it's time. Years and years ahead of anyone else. Fun Fact. Many Sega Genesis games are Amiga ports. Especially UK releases, some of which never came to the US.

My friend, Todd, was the only kid I knew who had a Neo Geo. They were expensive even in the 90's.

MetalJesusRocks I thought it was because Hancock's theme is retro, so I thought it was a nice touch!

I had a similar SNES bundle that I purchased from Target in the mid 90's that came with Mario World, Mario Kart and an offer to receive Mario All Stars by mail with the UPC.

As awesome as this video is its gonna kinda have the consequence of making these systems even more expensive and more sought-after the more people know about it, great video though.

There are some crazy expensive consoles you missed. The N64 zelda edition with the VHS only available in Belgium for example is 1500/2000$. I also remember some boxed collector bundles of old Nintendo console getting to skyrocket values

Metal Jesus visiting the Immortal lair...always awesome! I discovered John’s channel thanks to MJR and I have since watch all of his videos! Side note: I love both of your shirts! Star Wars is my first passion and retro games is my second. I’m 44 and grew up on Star Wars, Atari 2600 and NES with a little SMS sprinkled in for good measure. Cheers! Oh...and lots on METAL music!

I still have a brand new, unopened and 100% mint TRU Gold N64. I bought it back in the day for $85 from our local TRU store and stored it away. I had no idea they were worth so much.

I still remember the Neo Geo system being sold at our local Babbages. It was stupidly expensive even back then and I think it was around $600 for the system. Each game however, was $200!

Hey MJ awesome vid!. I was wondering if you knew anyone with an arcade system collection. Would be awesome to see some of the classics in their full size arcade glory. For me there was nothing like that feeling of walking into an arcade as a kid. Remembering the noise of a room full of arcade machines sparks up nostalgia. I used to love those full sized machines you could sit inside fully encased with surround sound and play your favourite racing game or space shooter. Just a thought, love your work though awesome network of friends you have too, who are just as passionate about gaming as you.

Another system complete in box that's rare and expensive is the JVC X Eye which goes around $500. Also the Turbo Duo in box around $800-$1000. Turbo CD in box $600-$800.

I just love the old boxes... these are like muscle car options; the less taken bundles/options are of course the most valuable today. its interesting because these gold and extra game pack editions were definitely later in life. By then most people/families that wanted SNES/N64 already had them
