I took a tour of national parks in the US. You could tell who was Chinese by there behavior. They were usually in a huge group and were pushy and didnt abide by rules. For example, people would line up to go to bathroom. But some of the Chinese would just cut everyone.

I have lived in Thailand for more than 12 years. When Chinese come to Thailand and bring their Chinese Culture here, Thai people do their best to ignore their rude and crude ways. Spitting and blowing snot rockets on the floors and sidewalks, obnoxiously loud conversations on their cell phones, and their aggressive/grabbing and fondling style with the young Thai ladies, as if all Thai ladies work on the streets. Most hotels here have "Chinese floors only" void of carpeting that is difficult to clean the snot rockets, spit and spilled food. We are all aware of the Chinese culture as the Chinese make it ever so obvious but they also refuse to acknowledge any other culture but their own, as if it was the only civilized culture in the world. As a half European/half Asian man, I acknowledge the differences and uniqueness of every culture and attempt to retain the best of each and overlook the worse of each. Chinese have their flaws as well as their qualities. Unfortunately, when Chinese visit Thailand, we see the majority to be arrogance and culturally ignorant of any other culture aside their own.

@@susanohara4274 yeah I guess so, I might not of been clear in my comment and what I was thinking about. I don't put too much value in test scores as I believe that everyone has a gift, rather it's making a person comfortable and letting them express themselves in a positive way to find solutions with the knowledge they possess. Asian culture puts the children under pressure to achieve, and really stifled that creative spark, and it showed how they treated a (friendly) stranger. The strict culture has positive effects too....so, I should not be stereo typing, as it can appear in anyone.

@GarretsShadow
@GarretsShadow 6 лет назад
It's pretty much the same anywhere. In the west (at least in the UK where I'm from), whilst there tends to be a niche sort of drug culture in the younger generation, and some people are more accepting of it, the vast majority of people see drugs as disgusting, where as binge drinking is just a social activity.

@emandems94

73Corbin well from my understanding (my mom is taiwan-born chinese), it is ingrained into chinese kids that drugs are bad because of the opium crisis in china back in those days. they tell kids that it was because of drugs (opium) that their country had such a hard time. which is true. so i would honestly say that the opium thing in 1800's china is not hypocritical at all, as the anti-drug mentality is a response to opium and the problems it brought on china.

It's also depending from which chinese province they are from, they may just not like the food. My GF is cantonese and the food there is very light, very few herbs and such and little salt. In comparison to other food which one is used to, my gf reacts to bitter, sour and salty very sensitive because she is not used to it. Therefor the food can be seen too intensive in flavor for her. Has nothing to do with nationalism lol. It's just a different food culture. You share lots of dishes instead of just having one for yourself. They even share 1 pizza for 6 people and have different pasta etc, if they order other countries dishes (at least in china). Just because people voted Italian food the most, doesn't mean all voted for it ... you can still have your own opinions on food lol.

jeffrman777 well i live in the west (even though i am mixed) and i agree on most of these.. i think asian cultures are much better.. more peaceful and reserved.. calm and much more respectful compared to most western cultures.. i like how people in asia are much more reserved when it comes to showing affection because if i see anyone making out in the street i just really want to slap them and tell them to get a room.. i don’t need to see two people basically eating eachothers faces.. knowing that in asia this is frowned upon makes me very tempted to move to an asian country.. simply because i was actually raised with alot of asian customs (my great grandmother was asian.. we think se was indonesian seeing as we live in holland and there was alot of slavery in indonesia that later brought alot of them to our country.. though this is on my mums side.. on my dads side i’ve got african and native american.. ) basically some of the things like taking off your shoes when entering someones house are things that i was taught early and that have stuck to me ever since.. i mean it’s just nasty to walk all over someones house with outside shoes on for that same floor only to be walked by one of the residents who is walking around on bare feet.. only for them to get all of the outside bacteria on their feet...

Litch The Shinigami There is some truth in what you said, but I do acknowledge that there are many elements in Chinese culture that can be very toxic. In Thailand the Chinese build condos in volume and in Laos they are trying to push the small shop owners out of the market.

Hey Serpentza, I have been hooked to your channel for a few weeks now. I've lived in China for 7 years (3 in Beijing and 4 in my beloved Chengdu). A bit more than a year ago I came back to Europe (Italy) with my Chinese wife (Im currently posting under her account, enough with the parenthesis now) and our two young kids. We left China for them, as for all its current problems Italy is about 100 times a better place for growing them. Few countries can get more frustrating than China, and by the looks of it it's not going to get better, yet seeing your videos makes me miss it so damn much. Keep up the good work, sooner or later I will find the time to publish my own (rather enormous) material on the subject.

When I first moved overseas at 5 years old, I was always bullied, harassed, hit, and insulted because kids in my class were taught the wrong things about my culture. I was talking with a Chinese girl for a while and she thought me such much more about China and its actual culture, and the same way around with her knowing false things about western culture, there is also a lot of things that are just the same in both cultures. Especially younger people would agree more to western ideals

If you came to america and were the target of bullying, it's not because of where you came from, it's because of how you behave when you got here. The only people who are the target of bullying are people who need to modify their behavior to match the rest of the people in their peer group. Also, the USA has NOTHING on bullying when it comes to Asian countries like China and Japan! USA students can't even attend a Japanese school because of how harshly they'd be treated. Kids in the USA accept all foreigners, unless their behavior is strange or appalling, like not wearing underarm deodorant. Fit in and you'll have a good time. Act like a fool and you'll be treated as such.

Simon Purnell Go to Chinese museums in every provinces of China and you can see an iceburg of Chinese culture. They're more convincible than my words. What you saw are bad habbits when living in the city. First, only part of Chinese do so. Second, perhaps 5 to 20 years ago, they lived in the rural areas where have no public toilets and trash cans. It's not easy for them to form new habbits to adapt urban life, especially for the elder. Btw, I think you are smart enough to tell the difference between habbit and culture.
@支那人-p6d
@支那人-p6d 6 лет назад
Rude manners, spitting, shitting and pissing are passive tactics used by China men to drive off invaders from ruling China in the past. They learned this from those dark skin barbarians when they discovered invaders less likely to invade barbarian territory(Bangladesh, Pakistan, Burma, Iran, Laos, Cambodia, Siberia). I would say this tactic is like a double-edge sword, the effect backfired and that made many people in China become more like self-hating traitors in China.

+marioozzie I agree, it's amazing. My company sent me there on a two year contract, and though sometimes it was exhausting, overall it was a good experience. Plus, I loved the high speed trains because I could bring my wife to visit her family over the weekend in only two hours without fussing about with cramped airliners. (The ability to stretch one's legs in a high speed train is worth every penny; I wish we had them here in the US honestly.)

Actually, despite the fact that Germany is quite a modern country, air conditioning is not very widespread. On the other hand, most houses have central heating which I heard is not that widespread in countries where airconditioning is widespread. And if we Germans want fresh air, we just open up our windows. Hanging your wash outside in your garden or balcony is not considered to be a sign that you are poor but that you are concious of the problems of the environment and want to protect it by saving electricity and therefore, it is even very popular amongst young people. So, even developed countries have different standards of living if you look at the facts of airconditioning, or using dryers or central heating.

About the sex part, I guess Chinese values are against the "dating" culture that is prevalent in the U.S. (I don't know about other countries.) My friends and I often joke about how Americans date first and then love, while Chinese people date because of love. Things like hugging can be very special in Chinese culture (Hugging has, perhaps, changed a lot in younger generations.) It's not necessarily "having sex"; it's just how one approaches a person whom he or she may like. P.S. Porns are very accessible in China. I have an easier time watching porn back in China than at my dorm lol (my school uses filters). It's one of the things where the government appears to do in one way but do not enforce their way when it comes to what each individual does. When it comes to sex education in China, the issue is not about how sex works (which everyone figures out from porn or friends) but more about proper perceptions about one's body. Learning solely from porn could cause some serious misconceptions.

I did that by accident once. I was with my family on holiday in Egypt when I was nineteen and we were doing the whole ancient Egypt tour going to different temples, the pyramids and valley of the kings and whatnot. Now my parents in their infinite wisdom decided to do it in the low season and the hottest time of year with temperatures between 32c on a really mild day and 50-52c on the hottest days with most days around 40-45c. So perhaps unsurprisingly when we went out to see the temples and do the tours, I wore as little as I could get away with without being lynched. Since I was young, fit, trim, pale and blonde in that heat I’d have been absolutely content with wearing a bikini that barely covered the essentials, sandals and bag containing my huge flask of water, wallet, phone and other essentials against my chest for safekeeping plus a whole lot of maximum factor sun cream. Alas that would have gotten me lynched, or most likely arrested since our tour group was accompanied by a security guard. I didn’t know that at first since the tour guide just introduced this Egyptian guy in loose fitting beige clothing and a jacket by his name and that he was a member of staff and because he was silent and discreet none of the other tourists really seemed to notice him much. But the jacket drew my attention because I found it odd that he’d wear one in the middle of the burning desert in the full heat of the afternoon sun during summer. So I ended up subtly watching him, mostly by perhipheral vision between sites. It wasn’t until we were most of the way around the pyramid tour in Giza and a blast of scorching desert wind just happened to be in the right direction to flap the jacket a bit. And for a precious few moments I could see the evidence of his real job was. Holstered at his side normally hidden under the jacket was a gun. Being British meant I don’t know what type of gun it was but it looked like a pistol. I think it was a prudent course of action to have an armed guard carefully watching over tourists and protecting them. There have been incidents where tourists had been killed by resentful Egyptians or terrorists. Bear in mind that this was was roughly twenty years ago when it happened and it was before the riots and uprising destabilised the entire region. At the time the tourism industry was a huge source of economic income for Egypt. I think it was the second biggest source of income for Egypt and any tourists that ended up being attacked or killed by disgruntled Egyptians could not be allowed to happen. So they were very careful with keeping them safe because it would be potentially very harmful to a lot of people if the tourists or people planning to visit but got scared off. So I’m fairly confident that if I did go around Egypt wearing a bikini and precious little else that I wouldn’t have to worry about being lynched or assaulted for it. But I do tend to think that I would be arrested for dressing like that in public. So instead I opted to take the fine line between wearing as little as possible but still being practical for interacting within the country I’m visiting. Sandles, shorts and sleeveless shirt. It worked out very well for the most part. On the day that we were going to be touring a huge, ornate a very important mosque I did choose clothing that covers my shoulders, elbows and knees in respect for the native culture though I did inwardly balk at being given a shawl to borrow to cover my hair for the tour of the mosque. But all the male tourists didn’t have to change clothing or wear anything extra and that pissed me off. I don’t like being treated as inferior just for being born with a female body and that the Muslims in the mosque couldn’t find a practical way to compromise with women that aren’t Muslims. I’d have been okay if I covered my shoulders, elbows and knees and they don’t insist on the shawl. I refused to go inside to take the tour so I just found a cool and shaded spot outside and waited with our bodyguard. So that was that. But a few days later we’re out on another tour of a temple and I’m in my short shorts and sleeveless shirt again. But as we toured this ancient temple native Egyptians gave me dirty or angry looks but I had no idea why. At least not until we reached a very small mosque that was very worn down by the ages and honestly not in the best condition but still cared for and maintained. The tour guide stopped outside it and explained that this is a very old mosque still revered as a holy site. As we moved on I figured it out. They felt like I was committing blasphemy by dressing like that so close to a holy site. But if I’d known that it was on the itinerary I’d have covered my joints,

Pietje Puk : you'll have / need to forgive me. I'm very ignorant about the political arena as well as the every day life in SA. Sometime back I watched a young fella on a skate board riding down hill on a HWY in SA the cops were looking for him because he hit speeds in excess of 50 MPH. Freckin' guy is nuts living on the edge, man! And of course I've been to SA via Google maps street view it was the first thing that jumped out at me was how everyone's home was like a prison cell ! Everyone has a bit of knowledge of " how unfair it appeared life was for the black SA in SA. Questions arise... What was life like for the white SA say 30 years ago ? Are there raids in the middle of the night when a group of black SA's or even one black SA will hop the fence and break into a home and rob or kill white SA's? What is employment like in SA ? Why are these black SA's not working together and along side white SA's ? Do the white SA's feel and think that their own race who are in political offices have let them down ? Are there any white SA's in office today ? The questions are numerous. We here in the states get our " Worldly News " in the form of sound bites, 5 minutes @ most. The whole damn planet in 1/2 an hour.So; you can see why we are so ignorant about the rest of the world! The media here in the states pigeon hole entire cultures and races and other regions of the world in the form of 5 minute sound bites. This girl Lauren Southern is attempting to shed some light on the plight that appears to have been flipped upside down in SA. I have to wonder just how accurate she is I mean, Hell ?! Winston has family living in SA. Damn man are they becoming increasingly concerned for their very lives of the coming " fight " that appears to be looming on the horizon ?!? Damn dude I could go on about this for the next gosh darn hour.... DAMN!

Smoking cigarettes/letting myself get addicted to nicotine is at the top place only also with allowing myself to get so addicted to heroin that I started trying needles... those are my ONLY 2 drug regrets... Yes, Chinese/Asian people are super good at spending money, but they have this weird thing about ... gambling. Yes there are people with gambling problems of all cultures, but man, Asians do love their gambling. I read an article somewhere that said it's a difference in the way people of different cultures think about things like time. Something about in Asian cultures, 20 years from now is not seen as far away, so it's easier to think of saving money so you'll have a nice savings 20 years from now ... as for the gambling, who knows. Another thing is, in the West we have the concept of win-win. But with Chinese people, in my own limited experience, it's win-lose. I sold a bicycle to a nice Chinese family, and they were dithering around, everyone riding it, Mom, Dad, the college-age kid ... but they could not bring themselves to buy the thing until I came up with a cock-and-bull story about how I was selling the thing as a favor for my friend, and at the price I was going to have to put in $20 of my own to keep my friend from being mad at me ... then there was a general sigh of relief, I'd lost, and they handed over the money in dirty, old bills and rode off into the sunset. Maybe in the long term win-lose is more successful but I sure like win-win. If I buy something or sell something, I want whoever is on the other side of the transaction to feel good, not bad.
