The best thing with air conditioning is to run it at highway speed. In town just roll down your windows. This is true with any car. The one thing that bothers me with any car is that engineers design cars that make sense to them, so they can make money the most effective way they see possible.
I have a 07 Chevy Cobalt SS 4 cylinder. It's fast as shit, but what could I do at an affordable price to supe it up? Would it be to invest in a turbo? Or cold air? Need some affordable I please thanks
how does no one talk about the bullshit electric throttle they put in these that forces you to shift slowly. It's so fucking annoying that you can't race shift these cars with quick changing of gears. I have a 2009 cobalt LS and the electric throttleing makes the RPMs hang up high FOREVER so i can't engage the next gear because the engine part of the transmission is spinning way faster than the wheels or speed of the car is so when you try to shift fast it will lurch the car foward when engaging clutch in the next gear. It's by far the stupidest and most frustrating thing i have ever had to deal with in the automotive game. I absolutely hate driving my 2.2L 5 speed 2009 Cobalt LS because of this. As i research more and more i even find they put in the SS versions of the cobalt SMFH!
The 5spd in the SS is horrible. Transmission shits out under high boost loads. The f23 in the LS is a lot stronger and if you would tune the damn car and shift with more finesse, you wouldn't have that issue.
Hey man keep up the good work, i have an 06 cobalt ss supercharged and i don't have that ac problem. I've been thinking about making videos of my cobalt too but winter is on it's way and i won't be able to drive during winter.
Thank you! I greatly appreciate that! Hopefully I should have more great content coming. It is a little tough though since I am so busy and will be getting different camera equipment in the near future. Stay tuned for more! Thanks for watching!
the things I hate is the parking brake, no dome light, small trunk opening and the low mounted intercooler. I could care less about wheels or wheel gap. I think the stock wheels and suspension or more then good enough for this car.
This might be my next car, stuck between this and possibly a g8.... Hopefully I can find a nice 09 or 10 as, I'm getting rid of my 05 aveo so either way I'll be happy
Their fun cars, you wont regret it. I had an 05 SS for a while, put a bigger supercharger on it, some coilovers, exhast. had fun with it for sure, got great gas mileage too.
As Corey K stated, they are very fun cars. Tons of potential and turn heads everywhere you go. I have heard good things about G8's. Either way you can't go wrong!
I have a 2009 Cobalt SS Sedan and there is a big gap in mine i and thinking about lowing mine as well im not sure how it would effect the handling though.
That lugnut pattern is a serious thumbs down. Most Cobalt SS's that I see cruising around either have the stock wheels on it or the stock wheels plasti dipped black....
Good video. And I think the reason GM didn't make the car faster from the factory is because the injectors were maxed out from factory. I don't think they wanted to put more than the 42# injectors in there.
They did it so the car would still get 35mpg and so every idiot that got in one wouldent wrap it around a light poll.thats why Gm didnt build it with 800hp .and plus its a cheap car to begin with.
I'm not sure about the a/c thing it might be a problem with yours because I have a 07 SS with the gm stage 2 kit and I haven't had any of these issues. And I live in Texas so a/c is a must.
I have a 06 SS Supercharged and I want to modify the girl. Definitely a bigger blower and bigger injectors, header, intake, and whatever else I can think of. It has a DC sports exhaust and muffler, sounds great. But I would like a little more kick to her. Btw brand new rebuilt motor and brand new clutch that was the main reason why I bought it. Anyway since I am not sure about where to get really good aftermarket engine upgrades, could someone at least tell me where to look other than GM dealers they are way overpriced.
Check out ZZP or OTTP. Both are aftermarket companies that still produce great quality parts and support the Cobalt platform. As far as general information, there are tons of Facebook groups that you can join or head over to cobaltss.net, which is an online forum.
Dude, why even have this car? Those are 5 things of serious hate!! I have an 05' SS all stock - barely any wheel gap, the blower being belt driven isn't an issue as the power it makes more than compensates from what it borrows, plus these cars have electric power steering so there's another component not running off the engine. The A/C issue isn't as severe as you seem to state - it could be worse, on my GF's 14' Ford Escape the ECU disengages the A/C when you floor the throttle.
in my book I feel people that own a Cobalt or any kind of car that they feel has problems or they don't like the way it looks or the way it feels should not complain be thankful that you have a car because there's people out there that don't have a car that are way worse and that wish they could have a car like you buddy so I would not complain because there's people that would love to have a car like yours or any other kind of sport car or Coupe so I think people should not complain what they have cuz there's always somebody worse off then you so be thankful and blessed that you had least have a car and should not nitpick or complain about it be thankful you have one
I made this video purely for educational purposes. A lot of people, including myself, like to know both the good and the bad things when it comes to buying a car. I bought this car because I love it and everyday I think about how much I am blessed to be able to own a sports car like this. Over the years of owning it, I was able to compile a list of small nitpicky things that I personally thought Chevrolet could have done better when building this car. I made this video to share that with people who may be considering to purchase one of these cars, that way they know some of the cons that these cars have when comparing them to others. I'm sorry that you got the wrong impression from watching this video. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave a comment. I encourage you to check out the video I just posted titled "5 Things That I Love About My Cobalt SS" I think you'll see there just how much I love this car and am thankful to have it. Have a good one Donald!
+La SS it's a daily driver who fucking cares.... faster than the majority of other piece of shit 4 cylinders out there if you're trying to race a colbalt ss your the fucking turd
+dbzisstillcool I use to have a 07ss stage 2. Have since moved up a few times. Way to show the kid mentality of a cobalt driver. Can only resort to cursing. Lol A sc balt is no better than any econobox in its class. Stock for stock terrible. Granted it has potential with a turbo swap. But other than that kids like you just stick to getting smoked.
Turbo swap is the only way to go if you want power, I put a TVS1320 on mine, Coilovers, Exhaust, Bigger injectors, intake and a tune etc Helped for sure but still wasn't crazy fast.
I've had the car 3 months..learned a lot..here to apologize. I'm still driving it every day to school..but once i'm finished i'd like to buy a small truck and Rebuild the colbalt and make it more fun. I have raced a few times haven't really gotten smoked yet..but i know theres alot out there thats much much faster
100% agreed as well, its very cheaply put together and rattles and squeaks a ton, but the seats with color matched inserts and door panels looked good, and the seats in my 09 SS are fairly comfortable and very supportive during my autocross racing. It also helps you enjoy the interior a little bit more if you take it off and paint it match the car or how ever you want really, just adds a little something to it IMO. But yes the interior does mostly scream econo car. I have on 08 HHR SS Turbo to go along with my 09 Turbo SS Sedan, and the HHR interior screams econo car too. it was the GM style at the time.
I just bought my first Stick shift, an '06 Cobalt SS. Can't wait to get used to it, shifting into gear without panicking. Also can't wait to show my little sister, she owns an '07 Cobalt LS. She wanted an SS.
What does he expect from a economy car, I have a 2008 2.2L 16 valve non turbo version and I'm happy with the acceleration. Anything more in this compact car would be dangerous. He is wining about the supercharged version of my car. Buy a damn Camaro and quit crying about your powerful economy car.
Subscribe and check out the 5 things I love about it video comes out! Again, as I stated in the video these aren't really things I hate, just the small things I've discovered during ownership that could have been better. Thanks for watching!
