This is BS. Everything he stated was simply a matter of opinion and personal taste, rather than functional or design shortcomings. During my test drive, I found the camera rearview mirror feature to be very useful because the field of vision is much wider, and you can switch to a normal mirror view if you like. This is nitpicking at it's finest! By the way, Cadillac's Panaray audio is the best system I've ever heard in ANY vehicle.
The S class is the #1 selling Luxury car in the world. It was #1 in AMERICA too beating out Audi BMW & Lexus...do your research people...Cadillac Sales are waaa y down for a reason. They went bankrupt for a reason.
I'd really like to know how many of these people in the comment section talking shit about the quality could even afford this car, even the base one. I'm not sayings it's an amazing car, but I feel Cadillac are trying to compete and give American cars a better reputation.
He's clearly a Mercedes fan boy, notice he doesn't include the significantly better competition like the Lexus LS, Hyundai Equus, Kia K900, etc But oh no he only admits the s-class's so called mighty V8 or V12 off memory the s-class still comes avaliable with a gutless V6 Think someone thinks Merc is king when Merc, BM & Audi spend more time in the shop than a Hyundai will these days 😂😂 Only an S550 ?, get somethin better than that weak sauce V8 Interesting how you say that though Caleb Mercedes is to much designed for the Asian market, to many lower end models share the same design language as the S-Class so reality is, it's a piece of shit Probably has alot of cheap parts from the base models in it too no doubt German cars always break down in Australia, something Hyundai's never do here Gone of the days where German cars were actually "German"
I own a CT6 Platinum, and for someone who parks in DC periodically, the parallel park feature is very useful. As for the length factor, many like it because it fits in their garages nicely unlike the S-Class and others that will still fit, but are really cramped in their. Oh, and the price tag difference between the Platinum Caddy and S-Class Mercedes is about 20K+. Sorry, no comparison here. The only difference is status symbol.
This is a based model you are driving so you can expect some of that.. Besides this is just their first generation to the CT6 cut it some slack.. The S Class and 7 Series were and still are not perfect.
+Tino Miller As Parker mentioned the vehicle is fully loaded. Secondly, what do you mean by it's the first gen? I get that you're saying that this is their first attempt, but since it is their first attempt they should've perfected it to gain popularity and name value. Also, yes the S and 7 are not perfect but they were a lot more refined.
+Bryan Hwang it's a brand new platform. Going to be a few years before they nail it (maybe next face-lift?). Mercedes has been doing the S Class for decades and have gotten pretty good. On other hand there's Range Rover who still hasn't fixed anything in the time Mercedes created multiple master pieces.
***** the type to know that BMW are shit cars. Audi cara are outdated after 2 years and Benz is just a car trying so hard to be in Bentley's and Porsche category and yet still fails. Besides the CT6 still has better tech than the S550 which they are always using the same damn faces and tech in all their lineups. So explain to me why should I buy an S Class when it will still have the same shit as the C, E, and M classes? Not even the S600 is uniquely different from the its whole S Class line up and that's their most expensive car listed..
+rock The 1.5 16v (known as Accent GT in the US) has a whopping 105 bhp, so there's even one for snobs who seek cheap power thrills and can't appreciate the engineering beauty of the three-cylinder diesel Accent. Accents rule, stop being in denial.
this is basically what you do not like about the car. its all about perspective and personal preference so i think this video is bias towards the german rivals
+Jacob danassis he is comparing it to his leased s-class. Half the things in the video are exaggerated, when he put the sunshades down he totally flopped, it's actually very easy and the touch of the material is better than what bmw uses
Yeah, it's stupid that the executive-sized CT6 has a small back seat and cut-rate for the class interior! Nobody who shops in the class cares about that at all!
Even though the ct8 was canceled, the design of this vehicle was to compete with the 5 series and E class therefore not being the flagship of the brand. After this vehicle was finalized and produced they couldn't alter the design to compete with the S-Class which was to be done with the Ct8. Maybe in the future this vehicle will grow with a slightly longer wheelbase or offer a long wheelbase model to better offer competition for the S-Class.
Just like most American cars, it has its cheapy points (door handles, for one) that weaken it against the competition. Not loving the centre stack or digital instrument cluster either, however I notice that Cadillac have strayed from the terrible glossy plastic steering wheel controls and gone with something a bit more practical and simple - real button that work when you press them! (which is a good thing). Overall, nice car. Now all it needs is a V8.
That doesn't sound like a mini-van to me! Just saying! Other observances, i.e. non-quality of door handles etc. , the need for further development of the camera/rear view mirror were appreciated. Unfortunately the price of the car is well outside my range. Hoping the technology trickles down to be shared with less expensive vehicles in the not too distant future.
Yeah I got tons of room in mind I’m only 6 foot at first I thought he was 65 then when I looked at it when he was driving it looks like the seat was moved up towards the front and raised towards the ceiling so I don’t see how they could be true with the space in the rear for him not being more than adequate.
Thanks for the honesty. These would be cons that most reviewers of a car would not even memtion. Im glad to know about it prior to buying it. I now know what im getting into and wont be hit with the disappointment of finding out first hand. 😅
that trunk comment is exactly why I want a Luxury Wagon, they're so practical I can't understand why Americans don't like wagons, and Cadillac's CTS-V wagon was gorgeous
didnt think you are correct in your opinions at all with the CT6. It is an AMAZING Automobile! and of coarse its great to give opinions to Cadillac or any manufacturers however when you give them dont insult them by saying cheap your opinions where insulting to a very beautiful car. Also your comparing to cars priced at 120k or more vs 80k again manufacturers listen when they arent being insulted, and if I was Cadillac I wouldnt listen to you!
Folks gotta stop compaining about it. See how Korean people support their cars (Huyndai, Kia) they still drive em since they one til today. We american gotta support American brand so they can have more $ to upscale the build quality also in tech. who put u in a position to complain all about car anyways. Make those American folks in the factory feel proud see how much better the car gonna be. You need to CHILL! coming from a Vietnamese. Be Proud.
One thing Cadillac still may have a problem with is depreciation. With a car like this and the build quality, will it depreciate even more than the rivals?
GM, please throw more money at Cadillac so they can produce vehicles that kick their competitors' asses lol. Because I know they fucking can. They're already doing it with their V division.
This car doesn't hold a candle stock to the Mercedes S class. Cadillac as a whole only sold 153,000 cars for 2019. Mercedes has been number 1 in Luxury Sales 4 yrs in a row!! 2.34 Million Mercedes last year. Even Lexus only sold 298,000 cars. Mercedes S class is the #1 selling Large Luxury sedan for 48 years straight since 1972 😎👍
Every car is different. you cannot generalize because of one or two bad experiences with a certain car. I have had 2 Mercedes now. 1 entry level another top tier amg. Neither one of them had much shop time. Corvette is a great car, my first one was a shop queen. You just need to spend more time researching and understanding what is worn on a specific vehicle
+Sean Kemp what Benz do u have,, im a Bimmer /mercedes tech... Regardless of what u say you've had issues that u won't disclose, unless they are brand new with 5 miles on them..
+MadeMan c350 first 2008 with 35000 miles only thing I would consider an issue was maybe the belt got tangled in fasteners at one point had it replaced extended warranty covered it that sit though over 4 years and I had a eurocharged tune on it as well now a 2009 c63 amg had it since February 39000 miles right now I did have the motor to the sunshade go out but extended warranty covers it
American luxury cars do as well, and I doubt this turbocharged CT6 will be any different. Late model Cadillac Seville and Deville, and the STS and CTS of last generation all had a handful of quality issues (Northstar V8, 3.6 V6 timing chain, plastic interiors, creaking and leaking sunroof on the CTS, electrical problems). Unless its a Lexus or a Town Car, unfortunately in this class it almost will always end up being a shop queen, as they jam pack these cars full of technology.
I disagree. My 300,000 mile 12 year old Cadillac has not had any electronic issues... The massaging seats still work, the air conditioned seats still do, etc. Everything works. I can't say that a MB or a BMW would be able to go that long without seeing the dealership.
The build quality is lower to maximize profit. Believe me, GM knows how to make a luxury car, as it is not that hard. There are a lot of European and German parts suppliers that American car companies rely on. Importing these parts to U.S. is expensive, so car companies cut production costs by using more plastic and lower quality materials.
I can't deny we definitely cut some corners, but thats really just the nature of GM. We've definitely come a long way, though, I think the late 90s onward have been some of the best cars we've made. Sure we don't have the build quality of say MB or BMW, but those cars are much more expensive. Plus our cars still do last a long time and seem to be much cheaper to fix than a European car. Not to mention, theres still plenty of European cars that are crap. From what I've seen England still can't build a reliable car.
the only thing that I will disagree with and say is purely nitpicking is their rearview mirror comment , I bet you $1,000 it says in the owner's manual for you to drive with the rearview mirror in the regular mirror mode and only use the camera when necessary such as in backing out of parking lots or driveways that enter onto busy streets. the refresh rate is fine it is you who is driving faster than the technology can keep up with. I like the fact that they didn't just make it go off after it went above a certain speed allowing the driver to have common sense and more control over their vehicle.
I agree with you! very nice looking car... But again dissapointed with Cadillac although I'm a fan. This car doesn't have premium features like the side sun shades automatic or soft close for the doors. The Hyundai Equus does better.
I know Parker never said that any engine with less than 8 cylinders is 'cheap' sounding but thats the impression i'm getting from him at 1:28 and in most of his other videos. I would never think that a F-type V6S or E46 M3 CSL or GT3 RS or RB26 DETT powered Skyline GT-Rs would sound less pleasant compared to V8~V12 engines. But before I get throttled by haters, yes I am aware that this Cadillac CT6 isn't suppose to have a sporty engine sound - thats where the CTS-V with its LT4 engine comes in.
I agree with a lot of what he said... the CT6 is actually decent looking from outside... it's got that old american big sedan feel mixed up with some modern design feel into one but completely distinct from the BMW/AUDI/Mercedes/Lexus.... yet, they did a bad job on the interior... it does not feel spacious at all, and many elements don't feel that premium...
I agree on the top five things here. The price is way high for what you get. The only nice thing I can say about this car is the Bose stereo in this vehicle is amazing. Could have been a better car.
Because the Chinese buy them and Americans don't. Be grateful the USA gets any Cadillac or Buick jobs at all, because China is the only reason those brands still exist. GM could be a 3-brand or even 2-brand auto conglomerate instead of their current 4, Chinese oligarchs' love for nice American cars is the only reason Americans even get to sweep the floors in Buick and Cadillac dealerships. GM sells very little of their premium brands in the USA compared to their European competition, and American sales of Cadillac and Buick are essentially just free money and icing on the cake because they can get their Chinese market cars to pass US crash tests without spending too much. GM would essentially be manufacturing cars here to sell exclusively in China, and China wouldn't be willing to pay the premium for cars put together with American labor costs. Many American makes sell more cars overseas, Chevy does well in Latin America, Ford in Europe, and GM's premium brands in Asia. Why would Ford make their small cars in the USA? Americans don't buy small cars, Mexicans do.Thus, they make their cars in the countries in which they sell enough to make it economical. Japanese, European, and Korean makes, by contrast, do more sales here, so they manufacture here. If they still sold more cars in Japan, they would still build them in Japan. If you want American-built American cars, start buying them in greater numbers than the rest of the world. Until then, the most American cars you can buy are made by Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, and Toyota right here in the USA with American parts and American workers. Buying Japanese supports American jobs, buying American adds another wing to a mansion in Grosse Pointe while employing workers in China.
I prefer a cockpit to wrap around me, hate when they push the dash and doors too far away from me. I know it's a big car, just hate feeling like a car is a golf kart.
if you've ever driven one of these you'll know the guy is a liar and had no idea what he's talking about not one single but. the engine sounds great but anything like a minivan. the rear view camera mirror works great and there is nothing cheap and this cat this guy is a angry cause he'll never afford one.
Cadillacs won't ever be as good a Mercedes Benzs, and thats a fact. The truth is Cadillac is trying to hard; they need to make up their minds on what you want to be (Mercedes has already mastered this and Cadillac needs to do the same if it wants to be competitive.)
I am not a fan of the rear view mirror/camera. ford had a nice one in their fusion/milan. that was the mirror until you put it in reverse a small camera in the rear view would appear
Here’s a good fact. For the same price you can’t get a rear seat entertainment system in a 7 series, A8, or an S Class. Maybe in a K900 but definitely not in a Lexus LS or any other so called luxury car.
Cluster phobic?? Not at all! I’m 6’1” and it feels spacious and very comfortable, unlike the the new genesis. That thing is cluster phobic in my opinion
