I decided against placenta encapsulation with my first pregnancy because I thought that consuming something packed with progesterone at a time that your body needs to be producing prolactin seemed counterintuitive. But I have no actual knowledge on this. Do you know if there is any data on placenta consumption impeding milk supply, as it just seems like it would...? I loved seeing my placenta last time, and definitely want to see it again this home. My midwife this time has suggested taking a photo of it, which she did with both of hers. I think that'd be a really cool thing to have 🙂

Yes, I will update this in my next video, but there is some research to suggest this, particularly because encapsulated pills are consumed over a period of time, unlike animals eating the whole thing then and there in the wild to keep predators away.

As a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, the real proof is in the Clients reactions and reordering. Their energy to not only take care of the newborn but of their families in a steady way, speaks volumes! They are happier, not weepier, and have better milk production than previous births.❤️ Yes, more available testimonies need to be put out there.

When I had my daughter 5 almost 6 years ago the doctor was very focused in her own world I would say, it didn’t seem like I was really taken too serious because I was 16 at the time, and only delivered half of my placenta and left the rest inside me. Needless to say, 30 minutes after delivering my daughter I started feeling very hot and sweaty and just overall not very well. I called the nurse because I felt I would pass out which I ended up flat lining. When I came too I had about 15-20 nurses and doctors around me, some pushing down on my stomach and 2 doctors putting their full arm up me (after being stitched) and I remember seeing buckets of blood that they were trying to remove from inside me. I wish they would’ve listened to me when I told them to check me again because I didn’t feel well. I ended up staying in the hospital a lot longer than other moms. I’m currently pregnant with my second baby (due in august, like my first lol) I will be delivering at a different hospital lol I don’t want to die again.

My mom is a retired L+D nurse. When I was in grade 1 she got special permission from a mom and the hospital to bring a placenta into our classroom for us to look at. It was in a clear bag and we all got to put on rubber gloves and feel it (through the bag). It was so cool. Years later I still had classmates talking about it and when we all graduated grade 12 and were sharing top memories that came up a few times. Placentas are amazing

My midwife was shocked when I asked to see my placenta. Apparently that's not a common request! After 4 kids almost nothing is gross to me. Lol. This placenta had an eccentric cord as well as the cord was 2 vessel. Neither was noted on any of my ultrasounds, so I'm glad I didn't have to worry about that ahead of time. Kinda cool how placentas vary from one pregnancy to the next.

In my country, people burried the placenta in front of our house. Treating it like the brother/sister of the baby who has passed away. We give certain spices such as salt onto it, petal flowers too. We also give it something to cover the grave such as basket and we put a lamp on it. We switch the lamp on at night until 40 days of birth.

I ate my placenta in an encapsulated form with my first one and I intend to do that with the second one too. I couldn’t just bear the thought of getting rid of it as some medical waste. I don’t see it as a medical waste, I see it as a life sustaining organ that I made for baby. I wanted it to follow a full circle of life; if my body has made it, it must go back to my body. It was the most fulfilling experience because I felt like I treated it respectfully. Like a tree of life and thanking it for keeping my baby alive. Some people might think it’s some psycho spiritual babble but I truly believed in respecting and honouring it. ❤️

Thank you so much for this! I started following your channel shortly after I gave birth to my son, who is 10 months old already! I found out I had placenta previa when I was 21 weeks pregnant. It apparently was just barely over my cervix. I got frequent ultrasounds to check it out and when I was 32 weeks pregnant, they talked about scheduling my c-section for week 37. During my week 36 appointment, we found out that my placenta previa had resolved itself and I was able to go into labor on my own. I ended up delivering my son, Jack nine days after my due date (which had I known about giving myself a birth month, I might not have been as impatient haha). He was 9 pounds, 11 ounces! So many of your videos have helped me so much, even if they came out after my pregnancy and son’s birth. So informative - and such beneficial information for my next pregnancy! Thank you!

I had a retained placenta, that was no fun! I never got to really see my placenta, just a few bits and pieces of it that were attached to the cord when it broke off. 30 minutes had passed after I delivered my perfect baby girl (who came out so quickly once we got to the hospital, after laboring for 24hrs at home) no time for the meds. I tore in a few places and the midwife was stitching me up and time just kept ticking and over 30 minutes had passed, I believe they gave me petocin to help with keeping my cervix open long enough for the placenta to come out. I had 2 different doctors manually try to get it out, which was probably worse pain than the actual delivery. I ended up having to go have the DNC procedure, where three doctors attempted and the one with the smallest hands succeeded (that's at least what I was told 😂) So after a quick unmedicated labor and delivery I ended up having to be put under to get my placenta removed. I did have hemorrhaging and ended up needing 2 blood transfusions over the course of my time at the hospital. It was such a bummer because we had such cool plans for that placenta. In the end all that mattered was out beautiful baby girl being healthy and mama being healthy. We made it through and I would do it again 100 times.

Dr with my first just scooped it away, I just managed a quick glance. My placenta with my second one was not in good shape and I had to have an early (10 days before I was due) induction because my baby was losing, not gaining weight (he was 6.0 at birth and has been perfectly healthy in his 8 years since, packing on a lot of weight after being born). Even having had just one look at a healthy placenta, I could see the difference between the two. It’s a crazy cool thing to see, but I love medical stuff. The whole eating the placenta thing is so...pseudoscience-y. People make the argument that animals in the wild eat the afterbirth when they have babies which is true, but not because it's good for them, it's because they're cleaning up their mess so predators can't sniff out their young. I mean if you want to eat your own birth meat then ok, but if it's the iron you want, you can always eat the organ meat of another animal. I mean organ meat is organ meat 😂or maybe you just wanna taste some human meat? Then go for it! But follow food safety protocols!
@AmandaZooKeeper

Thank you so much for your videos! They are really interesting and informative. Especially now- all the pre-birth meetings and classes are cancelled in my hospital due to COVID 19. I am due in the beginning of June and I never gave a thought about placenta :D definitely will not eat it or keep it, but very curious to take a look at it now! :)

This was a really cool video and I love your enthusiasm! I don't mean to correct you, but not all mammals have placentas. Placental mammals have placentas; marsupials and monotremes do not. A lot of them, but not all, do eat their placentas. The ones who do are those who den or nest when they have their young, since the scent of the placenta could attract predators. Those mammals who don't remain at the birth site leave the placenta right where it fell and move on.

I’m currently 17 weeks and due in September. First baby. I’m freaking out thinking about the whole labor thing. I’m very excited to meet my baby but also freaking out about the things that could possibly go wrong and also not knowing what to expect during labor.

Can you do a video about placenta issues i.e. placenta previa....and /or how to prepare for being admitted weeks/months before you have the baby for observation due to issues like placenta previa/accreta.

I was actually sad I didn’t get to see my placenta. Because of some medical emergencies with baby the placenta was low on the priority list. But after everything was over I remember feeling disappointed in not being able to see what helped grow my little one. Next time around I hope to take it home with me

Hi Nurse Zane, I’m 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby and really enjoying your videos 🤗 I went for my scan last week and my gynecologist told me that my placenta is low. I really want to have a natural birth and I wanted to know if there are any tips for the placenta to move up while my womb grows. Some advice would really be appreciated! Sending you lots of love 😘😘😘😘

My first baby I had my placenta encapsulated and I had tincture made! I swear it helped with my postpartum. And with baby 2 coming I already have what capsules I want ordered with another tincture and tree of life painting. To me it was well worth the experience and money! My husband is actually very happy this second baby he won’t have to walk or drive the placenta home alone again.

I had an unmedicated VBAC and the worst part of labor personally was the delivery of the placenta 😬 The placenta wasn’t coming out even after the nurses pushed down on my tummy and the dr had to manually remove my placenta and it felt like some major tugging! My nurse told me that in some pregnancies after c sections the placenta can get super attached to the uterine wall.

This was such interesting Information! I never thought too much about this with my first, and I was so focused on her when she came out I don’t even recall delivering the placenta I just remember our doctor showing us! With my daughter I had an anterior placenta and I’ve always wondered if that’s something that will likely repeat itself next time or if that happens at random? I always felt like I couldn’t feel her movements well because of it.

I have birth for the first time 4 months ago and was shocked at how big my placenta was!! I said "WHOA!" & one of the nurses said "YUP, that's your placenta! Did you want it??" I stared at her for a minute realizing I hadn't even thought about that. I was worried it was going to be very expensive (& tbh a little grossed out) so I politely declined.

Do you have any info on partial placenta abruption? Why it happens in a "normal textbook healthy" pregnancy and mother, and what the recommendations are for after in terms of monitoring, exercise, birth options? There is not that much info out there, and the info that is is based on high risk conditions. Thanks!!

My 1st delivery was natural, apparently I needed the nurse to put her elbow through to my back while I pushed. Afterwards the nurse rubbed my fundus for a while. I don't know if my placenta tore or what. I have not seen this during my working as scrub tech in L&D.

Can you ask to switch nurses? I had a horrible nurse for my son (maybe she was having a bad day not holding it against her). She was super rude, and super short (making rude comments apologizing to the doctor for calling him when she didn’t realize it would take me so long to figure out how to push. She didn’t realize I’d previously had a 1 lb baby and 2lb baby so having a 5 lb 12 oz baby wasn’t a walk in the park.) For this baby if I were to have the same experience with a nurse I’d like to be able to voice my opinion before it came time to push.

Can you do a video about cramping during a early pregnancy? I just found out I’m pregnant and I’ve been having very bad cramps, the doctor said it was normal due to your uterus expanding. I don’t know what to do I wanna rush to the ER again. I had a miscarriage early January of 2020 I’m just really scared about going through that again. I contacted a ongyn but they never called me back.....

I was expecting that you will add about cutting the umbilical cord, the good of having a lotus birth and if we don't have a lotus birth, can we tell doctors to not cut the umbilical cord not until after 5 min that the baby has born so he or she will have all the benefit of the placenta after being born.

No the placenta and fetus would grow wherever they implant (typically the Fallopian tube)

Can a piece of the placenta get left behind? I passed what looked like a piece of placenta maybe 2 weeks after I had my son and it was fairly large about a dollar coin around and an inch thick and I thought I was dieing.. I'm fine but it scared me!
