I painted along with you and listening to you speak about all the overthinking of what and how to paint, etc was SO HELPFUL! Your five tips were so appreciated. I want to join your patreon.
Beautiful! Lately, I have been enjoying the process but hating what my creation looks like while I am painting. But once I put the brush down and convince myself it is going in the trash, I come back to it later and it doesn't look half bad. I want to be able to make art and not have to think about every stroke I do, or that I have to "fix" something that I think looks bad. Thank you for the video AND congrats on your Patreon!
Thank u for your lovely comment Kathy! That is a very common phenomenon! I think we focus on all the flaws and mistakes while we are painting it. But after giving it some time, it nearly always looks not as bad as when we are painting it. And the best part is that most people who just gaze at it will think even better at it because they dont even know about the mistakes!
I love your art and I think we all have unique ideas of connecting. For me I love watching you paint best with a mixture of commentary and planned pauses. The pauses helps me to relax and take in the beauty of the art process then I am ready in anticipation for some commentary. Sometimes filling all the spaces with talking is perceived as stressful and we are looking to create that relaxed atmosphere to paint creatively.
Thanks for your wonderful feedback. As a teacher (especially in yoga), there is a fear of silence and we feel we have to fill up every empty space with something. But you're so right, we need to give space for things to land.
I haven't done watercolors before, but you inspire me to try it now. Hopefully it will go well, so that I can learn to enjoy it! I picked up a few supplies to get started, so...here goes!
Exactly the video I needed to let loose and not complicate my art journey. I totally resonated with your message and felt deeply to let go and create. Thank u 🙏 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Hi Crystal, really appreciate you taking the time to explain this to us. Sometimes I just don’t do anything because I think my painting has to be perfect. You’ve helped me over the hump. As an aside, were you part of Bonnie Christine’s surface pattern design group?
Sooo happy to hear that! Perfectionism can ruin everything! Authentic flaws and mistakes is what makes things most appealing and real. And no I wasn't part of her sufface pattern group. Another Crystal perhaps?
