Holy guacamole.... I have been practicing the guitar for three weeks. I felt that within the past few days I’ve hit a wall, and at times I’ve wanted to toss it out the window. This helped me move forward by coming to the conclusion that there are a lot of key actions I have left out during my practice sessions. Thank you for your explanation about the importance of scales and thank you for the demonstration!

I know this video is four years old, but what helps me the most is just playing a drone track in the key I am playing the scale in. It made an amazing difference and was much less boring. It also opened up the doors to doing some improv to make the scale sound musical.

Ive been running scales for a few weeks with a metronome, and have been wondering where to go next. Very helpful video and instruction. Relevant and well done. Some fantastic tips and just what I was looking for to help me advance to the next stage in my guitar journey. Love the content and the channel my dude!

Tony, thanks so much! I began my journey learning (re-learning) open chords, then on to barre chords, then working diligently on transitional speed between chord shapes. I even have the dreaded F barre chord down like a pro now. But, I have delayed moving forward to work on scales. Time is up . . . and your primer here on how to tackle it, design a practice regimen, is the way I am going to begin my work on learning scales. Brad in Texas

Wow! I know I'm on to something. When I first studied the scales, I gave up because of the number of notes to memorize. Year later, I noticed that there seems to be a pattern of some sort. Anyway, this lesson is probably the best I've watched so far with regard to guitar scales. Good work man!

It is "not fun" not because learning is not fun but because of this cultural belief that in order for something to be fun, it must be easy, simple and wihout challenges, like most of the jobs one finds in cities. It is the manifestation of George Orswel and the culture of pleasure an comfort. So anything that brings a little discomfort, it is judged as "not fun". But that obsolete mentality is what separates a Human from a simple creature, not man nor animal... Not all those who walk in two feet are Humans. Humans love challenge and pain to certain extent because in them, Humans find DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH, those who do not like it do not know the value of difficulty, and they are not Humans yet. Thanks for the videos!

Bruhh I just memorize this joint in an 30 minutes. Ion gone lie I had a problem with my finger placement especially on the second string (Bstring) middle finger~ pinky finger before going over to the 1st string index ~ middle finger. I kept putting my index on that b string where the middle finger had to be placed..had to kill that habit
