I ordered my first bottle of East Coast MCT oil on Amazon about a month ago. It arrived promptly but the foil/foam seal under the plastic lid was missing. A sticker on the bottle said not to use if seal broken or missing. I emailed the company and explained the situation. They immediately sent me a new bottle with no questions asked. Didn’t ask me to return or even send a picture. Great customer service. I will continue to buy their product and support their business. Oil is super clear, odorless and tasteless. Blends well with my coffee. Great product
Very informative video! MCT is also good for those without a gallbladder since bile isn't required for the body to process it - that's probably why too much at first makes us run to the restroom. It can be directly absorbed without bile. Just a side note - if you test your ketones 30 to 120 minutes after consuming MCT then those ketones are from the oil you consumed and not body fat. Dr. Annette Bozworth says wait 4 hours to test to see what your body is doing on its own. I'm sure the studies examine different variables.
Can you give us an update on Keith? Progress...future goals...future self experiments? Have you guys thought about doing a short term trial of the carnivore diet? Thanks for your channel! Keep it up! Love you guys! ❤️
The best thing I have done this year is your 21 Day Challenge. Starting day 8 today. Three pounds down but best of all glucose readings steady on the down low and ketone readings amazing. I have Keith syndrome where my ketones are usually low in the morning. With your 21 day challenge this morning I was 3.2 yesterday morning I was 2.8. Thanks for all you guys do. Love watching your videos Is there a 21 day forum to ask you questions and talk with other people on the challenge?
Thanks much Docs! Luv grass fed butter but want to utilize MCT more. I've lost 130 in 10 mos...I'm fit/firey.😉 Back to my younger bod self at a now 61. Inflammation...meds gone! I need mct for my HIT workouts fer shurrre!
I just ordered the MCT oil for the first time after watching your videos. No diff to my coffee taste. Its easy. I intermittent fast as well now. I watch my evolution. Thank you for the lovely content. Very well explained.
Great video!! I love your comparison tests! Have you compared MCT to coconut oil? Coconut oil has the same fats at a lower concentration and MCT is more expensive, is it really worth it?
I ,Ike the way you presented this/ I also like the referencing in the notes below your video! Keep up your great informative videos! I get a lot out of them! David
I just grabbed my MCT oil from the pantry- it is Sprouts Organic. Happy to see it has 7.3 g C8, 5g C10 & .7g C12. (per T) It's the good stuff! I plan on adding to my individual salad dressing amount each day- thanks for that tip! I think I would prefer that to adding to my coffee. Thanks for the great info as usual, 2 Fit Docs!
lnghrnfn hi,do try MCT oil in your coffee, you could be pleasantly surprised- half / full capful of oil in a small-blender whizz for a couple-of seconds and hay presto a delicious cup of creamy coffee.🙏🏽🇬🇧
@@TATOTEMPRESS Thanks for the info but I'm loving my half & half which I've used for many many years! (plus I am lazy & hate dirtying up my cup blender) The salad dressing seems to be perfect for me. :)
Thank You, so much for sharing this information. I'm on Keto for nearly three months, following it strictly.. and still hard to get my 8ody into deep ketosis. I think trying this MCT oil will help.. and thank you for letting me to start out small amount of MCT oil (I'm going to try a 1/2 tsp for a start and work my way upward ..... I hope they'll work for me .. I deeply appreciate you two for all videos.. Have a great day!!!
I always hear consult you doctor, I asked this to my doctor, he doesn’t even know the meaning of MCT. I hope informer like you guys work on where to find a doctor a keto doctor so that people like me will not get lost when doctors like you talk about truth like this. I’m looking into finding a new doctor though thank you for understanding .
Thanks for the info. More reasons to love MCT I will now take a small amount before my bicycling ! Also: I found a nice way to add it to my diet is to use it to make salad dressing. MCT plus Apple Cider vinegar, and add taste with juice from Kimchi and/or jalapenos. For sweetness add xylitol and/or erythritol Yum
Thank you very much for this video. I am starting a Keto diet and am in the process of learning about MCT oil but haven't' tried it yet. Couple of questions - When is the best time of day to take the MCT oil? Should it be with food or by itself? Can I take it during an intermittent fast, and will it break the fast or knock me out of Ketosis? Any positive effects for people with fatty liver? Love your channel!
I was wondering if you've done any tests on MCT oil with allulose? I have watched the MCT oil and also the allulose videos that are for each individual product whether they raise blood glucose and ketones, but just wondering if they are mixed together would there be a positive or negative effect? Thank you and if not I'd love to see this video!!
Are there any negative side effects from MCT? I’ve heard you should start consuming it slow. But I’m not sure why it might be dangerous to consume too much.
I bought the Now brand of MCT and it’s taking me forever to use it up. I tend to pick heavy cream over it. Maybe another brand would be better - this one makes my throat feel a little scratchy (interesting you mention that). Thanks for the info, as always!
Great video guys. I pour a little MCT in my coffee every morning. I don't measure, but I'm guessing it is about a tablespoon. There's hardly any taste to it and I actually sort-of like the oily consistency it gives the coffee. It almost makes it taste a bit richer. Is there any benefit to having another tablespoon in the afternoon? I haven't done that yet - just wondering.
Never tried MCT oil. How do you ingest it? Hmm I will have to give this a try. Now that it is getting colder out, I am starting to abuse carbs more. Must be the caveman in me.. storing fat for the long winter.
In case anyone is into health, my Keto MD told me that MCT oil is not one of the healthy oils for your health. He said use it once in awhile but not often, since my goal is to improve then maintain my health. So yeah it increases the amount of energy you burn, plus all the other things these 2 docs say, but it doesn’t help improve health beyond that, and I am talking about what all these Keto channels say, use healthy oils.
It is, but it requires extra processing, I try to limit the mct powders to when I travel, it’s a lot easier to take through security. When I’m not traveling I use the oil in my coffee, with heavy cream and cinnamon, I use it to substitute for a meal.
It comes commercially from coconuts so there is no inherent reason why you couldn't take it. However, one of the key aspects of the keto diet is reducing carbs, so you would just have to re-structure your diet to have "low carb" vegetables and fruits and avoid the starch ladened ones.
How about long chain and short chain fatty acid what does that mean and what oil or food contain that high or low level. I hear you mentioned olive oil but you DID NOT explain which one belongs to olive oil. Thanks.
I want so much to ingest MCT oil, however am really challenged by MCT oil, even in small amounts. I do NOT have a gall bladder so it is a matter of 60-90 minutes before I have diarrhea. I have recently read that I should take bile salts to compensate for not having a gall bladder. Drs. Becky and Keith any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Deborah Gregory I am looking into transdermal absorption and i wonder if it might be significant enough to be of benefit. There are a few studies that hint at the possibility. Give it a try. I found it really improved my skin too. I’m no expert, but I do know we absorb far more through our skin than we realize. Just a thought.
Can anybody tell me if mct oil is a clear fluid or is it white - or other colour? I like cream in coffee and I've even done butter, but I don't like black coffee - it's just too bitter. Does mct oil froth up and give the appearance of froth? Butter works for me as it takes the bitterness off the coffee.
We have several but our testing videos are probably what you're looking for. Round 1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iAv-1UHHjeg.html Round 2: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d87lR4_mmg4.html
The first time I tried MCT I put it in my coffee. It made me nauseous. The exact same feeling when I felt the Keto flue. But what I really want to know is can MCT help brain damage and stroke victims???
There are several papers which show ketones having a positive benefit on strokes and brain injury as well as Parkinson's, Altzheimer's and epilepsy. There aren't any clinical trials that I am aware of, but studies looking for benefits seem to target "deep ketosis" where the Glucose - Ketone index is really low (ie 1-3). That's a ratio of the substances in milimoles ( 2Fitdocs- Keith and Becky have done a video on it) While MCT probably has benefits, a real therapeutic affect may require being in deep ketosis. Clear unambiguous clinical work (ie a large trial) is lacking.
Peter Eichinger - Thank you for sharing Sir, I appreciate your response in this matter. My elderly mother had a few mini strokes. I don’t think she is capable of ketogenic diet and thought MCT might help her.
@@Bhatmann I think the MCT would be useful as it provides "immediate" fuel for the brain. Clinical trials are only as useful as specific outcomes they are examining. Her physician may be aware of specific needs or conditions that may adversely influence her though.
Look up dr boz (Dr. Bosworth ) on RU-vid. She is a dr who's field is people with brain issues from injuries to alzheimers. She is also a dr who does keto. Very informative.
Here’s what finally brought my blood pressure down to normal: D3 + K2 + Potassium + no sugar, grains, starches, or starchy vegetables. I follow a clean Ketogenic diet. It actually worked for me. I found this solution through watching Dr. Eric Berg You Tube videos.
I replace a meal with a keto coffee several times a week. That’s 1 tbls c8 mct oil, a tbls Kerry gold butter and 3 tbls heavy cream. That comes to 380 calories and 44 g of fat. A very low calorie meal. I’ve lost 80 lbs in 2 years. I’m diabetic and am at my goal weight. Try it and I guarantee it will take your hungriest away.
Larry Benoit - How is your diabetes after changing the way you eat and weight loss??? Are you back to normal, off meds, do you eat carbs again and what type?
Fidelity Quester I’ve gone from 140 units of insulin to 20 units a day. My blood pressure is normal and I’ve quit taking statins. I’ve gone from 8 meds a day to 3. All told I am still on a ketogenic diet and do intermittent fasting daily. If you want good health there are things you need to give up and I’ve done these things and have never felt better in my life.
Larry Benoit - Congratulations and thank you. Keep going I hope you junk all those toxic meds. I started fasting 1st week of December for 60 hours and twice 80 hours every weekend 15 times total. I started keto eating February 3rd and trashed my meds. I got tired of fasting every weekend and took a break for 3 weeks. Then I started skipping eating every other day. Feast one day, fast the next. Went from 262 down to 205 pounds today. I’ll take another break when I pass below 200#. I’m 56. Keto for me is not for the weight benefits but primarily for the heath benefits my body feels. I feel like a new man. Good luck to you and continued success.
Fidelity Quester I’ve done a couple of 72 hour fasts and a number of 36 hour fat fasts, 2 keto coffees a day. My a1c is 5.6 and I want to get it below 5.0. I miss pizza more than I can say, but I can live without it.
Coconut oil is only 15-20% C8 and C10. C12 (which doesn't really act like a medium chain triglyceride in the context of ketosis) comprises about 48% of coconut oil.
As far as effectiveness, coconut oil doesn’t do nearly as much as mct oil does. You’d have to research it further but it doesn’t hold a candle to mct oil.
If I’m already in Ketosis and very well fat adapted is MCT oil still beneficial to take? I’m having trouble getting my fat burning going in the right direction
Lisa Luptak If you’re in ketosis and stalled, you might want to lower your fat and increase protein (make sure carbs are very low). People don’t need to be at 70-80% fat forever unless they are in ketosis for medical reasons like epilepsy. Maybe fast more, too.
Margo Lucas Poor choice. High in omega 6 and terrible for the environment. Coconut, olive, macadamia oil, ghee, butter, tallow, lard for the win. And bacon fat!!
I think they did a video on that - quite sure the answer to that was no. MCT increases ketones and lowers blood glucose, which doesn't equal an insulin increase. I could be wrong, but...
I don't understand why we should rely on an artificial way to create ketosis and fat burning., won't this actually impede endogenous fat burning? That is the fat we actually want to burn. Shouldn't we be trying to use our natural mechanisms for fat burning and weight loss? Thanks.
Love the improved graphics. Extended your reach by posting here: redd.it/bx8560. The only thing I query is the idea that MCT hastens ketosis - yes it raises your ketone levels, but isn't that just a function of the way the liver processes the oil, and not necessarily a sign that your body has actually switched to a fat burning state? My experiments support that notion - ie, if I serve myself up a large dose of MCT, my ketones shoot off the scale, but is my body REALLY in ketosis - I think not
Never tried it. Wonder what it tastes like? Doesnt sound pallatable. Oops. Spelling error! Wow, me? Yep. The word is: palatable. I should know better. Comes from palate. Duh.
I use NOW MCT oil and I put it in my coffee in the morning. Is has hardly any taste and actually makes the coffee seem a bit richer. Everyone is different, but to me coffee with or without MCT is all the same to me now. It is very palatable IMO.
