Thank you for another informative video. I bought the MCT oil from the link you provided to Amazon. I use it daily in my coffee. People are remarking how much weight I have lost. I am doing the 0123 diet, low carb. You guys are worth your weight in gold! One more thing, cannot believe the effect on my body since I cut out sugar- I never realized the inflammation the sugar was causing in my body. Happy Holidays ❤️🎄❤️🎄
Word of caution, there are many reasons for heart palps on Keto, but here's a possible one. I was recently recommended to try removing MCT/Coconut oil from my diet. Next day my Palps were gone. That was on day 13 of Keto, if I'm honest it may just have been a coincidence and may have been at that point where my body had self regulated but it's worth a try.
I have been in a weight loss stall for the last 3 weeks. Eating the same and my macros are on target. Yesterday and today I put MCT oil in my smoothie and it was enough to get things going again, as I saw a 1 pound loss on the scale today. I had used it on and off in the past, so no difficulties with it. I still have a bit of weight to go, so will continue to use it. Thanks for the info.
I'm on my second day using bulletproof c8 and I doubled my intake amount from teaspoon 2 times a day to 2 tablespoons and no gut issues yet but I have noticed a slight energy boost and less craving.
Hi! Just found your channel. Thank you for the in-depth look into MCT and keto. I have recently come across the benefits of MCT and Alzheimers. Looks very promising. Love the balance of coffee mug verbiage 😊
I started using 1 TBS of MCT oil in my coffee and I noticed it gives me an incredibly nice energy level for the last 2 hours of my fasting - I always fast 18 hours minimum each day but often 20 hours. It just amazed me what the oil does for me in terms of energy and made me start really looking at the rest of my diet to see where I could increase the quality of my food.
@@spriteespritee1237 Hi Spritee - it's somewhat controversal here is a video I found very helpful. I don't use the MCT oil outside of my eating window anymore but these guys are a reliable source in my opinion and I trust that the MCT oil will not raise my blood sugar or store as fat so I'm comfortable using it toward the end of a longer fast if I feel I need energy. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SZ52rDarXtw.html
@@spriteespritee1237 Dr. Fung talked about different substances and fast breaking. It depends on the type and goal of the fast. If fasting for sugar control, then pure fats do not trigger insulin response or pancrease so it's functionally the same. But if water only fasting or caloric, then anything eaten would technically break it even coffee. So if you are consuming coffee on your fast, then it's likely you are not doing only water fasting so MCT would likely not affect your results. ( or something to that effect...)
I agree with Cherryl comment. I find MCT oil to have a cognitive effect. It decreases brain fog. I'm surprised this was not mentioned since it is a major reason I take it daily.
MCT oil was what I needed to get over my brain fog hump. Even wit coconut oil, I had been struggling with brain fog for months before I started MCT oil. I just put it in whatever I need to up my fat intake if I'm not getting enough in the day.
@@snakebite6511 Brain fog is when you think of doing something, then immediately forget, but you know you were about to do something. You stand there for several seconds trying to remember, but it isn't just with one task, but every aspect of one task. Go get a glass of water, forget along the way, remember to get water, get into kitchen, forget why, remember to get a glass, stop at cupboard, forget, remember to get glass, set glass down, forget why. It's like there's something in the way of the memory and retrieving it. It's a form of short term memory failure.
cherryl IVE had brain fog for a few years , I kept thinking it was sinus ( but have done everything for sinus minis surgeries Please tell me what your brain fog feels like ? Do your eyes feel affected?? OPPS I am restarting lazy keto real soon ( I was sick for 3 months so was off everything MTC ,Collagen, etc even my daily vitamins
@@susanchase3715 When I have brain fog it feels like the inside of my forehead and eyes are fuzzy-feeling, kind of warm. I start getting a 1,000 yard stare where my eyes don't focus on anything and they sort of get stuck. I hope youre able to get rid of the brain fog, it's hard to function normally when you can't think clearly.
Thanks Doctors, Remember to keep it simple for us lay people who need a good explanation to sink into are hard heads. I may try MCT oil again. Have a great Christmas and enjoy your family 😘
Thank you both for sharing your journey with us. Keith I completely feel your pain. Unfortunately we are in the same boat with a messed up metabolism. But you inspire me to continue on improving my health. God bless you both for being so transparent and willing to give your testimony.
Can’t thank you guys enough…started 21 day LCHF diet on 1st November..I’m at day 11 and have lost 5.4 kgs ..find it so easy to stay with and understand…thanks a million
Was supposed to expect another gastrointestinal surgery after ten years. Surpassed it, but was experiencing some hints of a brewing problem right before keto. Most certain that further words are unnecessary...gut is happier than it's EVER been. Yaaaaaeeee KETO!
One more benefit, I would like to add. I drink Americanos throughout the day while I’m fasting, and the coffee tastes amazing with the MCT oil in it. It has similar effect to adding half-and-half to it, because it makes it velvety and smooth. Love it!
I use the MCT powder in my coffee which I hope has the same benefits as the oil, and I will start alternating olive oil with MCT oil on my salads. Thanks so much for your update.
@@merson812 Really, no big reason, other than I always have some in the cabinet. I used MCT diligently for more than 6 months and didn't see any cognitive differences. Coconut oil has MCTs and other things, so it's probably good to mix it up
I have thought of giving up MCT just to save money. It does help my brain fog, and I don't want to use supplements forever! am trying to keep it simple.
Thank you for this update. It is good to know what the latest research/trends say about the use of MCT oil in a low carb/ketogenic lifestyle. I also found it interesting how your use of the oil has changed over the couple of years you have been taking it. Though I have had successful weight loss without the oil on a ketogenic diet, I may start to include it in my coffee for the possible benefits you mentioned to the gut microbiome. Thank you again!
Thanks for a helpful video! With about a Tablespoon before bedtime, I experience vivid dreams and just about always wake up with the distinct feeling of having had a good rest. I also wake up less overall through the night. Newbies: Definitely keep your magnesium citrate intake in check, and watch out for Disaster Pants!
Thank you for explaining why MCT oil may not be the best choice for cooking! I appreciate this info & the suggestions for other fats to use for cooking...Great video, as usual!!
Thank you so much for the information in this video. I add MCT to my morning coffee and had noticed an irritation with my throat, that lasted a while after I had finished drinking. I blamed the coffee grounds and was going to get a new french press. I have just made a coffee without MCT and no problem! Now I have to think of a new way to take in the oil.
This is very helpful. The practical application of the research to what you yourselves do is reassuring. Makes the journey for others easier. The n=2 research you do is also enlightening. Thank you 😊
C12 is much much better in raising insulin sensitivity than C8 or C10. I am taking C12 only and not doing Keto but losing weight faster than when I'm on MCT..
Thanks Docs. I'm new to MCT Oil and found this video extremely helpful. I will purchase the frother and try it in my coffee. I've drizzled a tablespoon over salad and it isn't bad at all. I'm enjoying your channel☕☕☕
MCT oil made me so sick. Had horrible pain on right side under my ribs and had diarrhea. I don’t think my liver liked it. Really scared to take it again. But so far I don’t need it on my Keto life style.
@@chuckentleutner4818 one thing we've all learned, each one of us is different, my ketone levels are like Keith, sometimes I frown when Becky does hers, but like Keith I'm down 80 lbs and at my goal weight. Thanks Bob
Another excellent video! Thanks Dr Becky & Dr Keith! MERRY CHRISTMAS to you both. ✨🎄🎼🎼🎼. HAPPY 2020 NEW YEAR 🥂🎊 Wishing US ALL GREAT success with our health goals & weight loss! Happy New Year to all! 🎊🎊
I started using only 1 tsp of mct oil in my coffee, once a day and developed terrible heart palpitations. I had no idea why, until I quit using it (was too miserable to continue intermittent fasting) and a few days later they faded away. But not before I saw my Dr, had bloodwork, an ekg, was scared by a (mis?)diagnosis of rbbb, and wore a heart monitor for 7 days. I have yet to get the results of the heart monitor session, but thought I'd put this out there in case there are people experiencing the same affect. I had no clue it was even a thing. In case it matters, I am a T1 diabetic and use synthroid for hypothyroidism.
I bought some It had lauric in it not a huge problem I guess most stuff in the store has it or doesn't say..The brand you mention looks better and the price is good
I just jumped right in Thanked God nothing happened. I was surprised how good it is. I just wanted to know how much to take. I'm using it as my "sauce" for my berries in the morning instead of yogurt or whipped cream. Thanks for the video.
I like emulsified but can only take a tsp at this point due to IBS. I can see both metabolic and mental clarity effects. It is amazing how such a small amount has such an effect. But I have to take it earlier in the day or I'm up half the night. Great video.
Thank you for the updated video. I do have a question. Is baking powder harmful? If so why? What can I use in place of it to make keto bake goods rise?
They did an earlier video where MCT powder didn't have the same effect on increasing ketones the way oil did. I found the same testing myself so I stopped using the powder. But everyone is different so powder might work great for you or different powders could give different results.
There’s no need to using mtc oil at all. People always look for work arounds and shortcuts. I’d recommend actually training your body to get your ketones higher. You might be tempted to use a bit of mtc oil if you’re doing a fast and feeling low in energy, but I don’t think you don’t want to do that of your ketones are very high.
@@LordStanley94 I'm thinking a basic O&V salad dressing. So about 3/4 C MCT oil, 1/4 C ACV, sea salt, fresh ground black and white peppers to taste. Add whatever additional seasonings you want, whatever's on hand -- garlic, dried parsley, mustard, whatever ... Enjoy!
@@LordStanley94 I haven't had the chance to make it yet, that was just my plan. The measures and contents are very flexible, imo, so go with whatever works for you et al. I think the final recipe will be adjusted many times, each time. Good luck. (I think it best to try the first attempts out on yourself.)
We put MCT oil in our coffee every morning as well as inulin powder, collagen peptides, butter and heavy cream. 46 oz fresh brewed coffee 8g inulin powder 10g collagen peptides 2 oz heavy cream 1/2 stick of butter 2 oz MCT oil 2 oz Skinny Gourmet English Toffee Syrup This makes 3 LARGE cups of coffee (1 for her 2 for me)
My version is... in blender one pot French Press coffee. 1T butter. 1T MCT or Coconut oil. 1 cup unsweetened Silk coconut milk. 1T cacao powder. The cacao has 20 x more antioxidants than blueberries and proven to reduce insulin resistance
@@n.p.2653 We sometimes add the cacao powder too. And when I make chaga tea I put cacao powder in it and make it like our BPC. I could drink the stuff all day but you still have to watch the calories :D
I tried MCT oil, liked the taste, but it gave me severe diarrhea....really bad, but thankfully went away the minute I stopped putting it in my coffee. Allergic reaction to the oil, or did I have a spoiled batch?
Question: I would like to use it more often, but MTC leaks out of me within hours and ruins bedding and clothing. Are there other ways to incorporate it into food, that will not leak out like that? I've just been adding to salad dressing and squirming a teaspoon here and there.😮
Also, how do you take it? People talk about it and show cups of coffee. You show a water bottle? How do you take it. Maybe you do explain this in the rest of your video. I have only seen 13 minutes of it. I will watch the rest.
What’s with the dark beard now Kieth? Are you aging backwards? Great results. You look fantastic. (new to yours & Becky’s sites. We are learning so much from you both) Thank you. Lynn
Thanks for the video. My concern is that the benefits of weight loss could happen at the expense of a heart attack. Hope the consumption of saturated fats in excess have no impact on your cholesterol levels?
You need to go to Low Card Down Under and just search "saturated fat". Dietart fat intake has no effect on blood cholesterol in terms of risk for this. Its always been known. Your body is literally making more fat than you eat when you don't eat it. So that shows heart attacks have nothing to do with intake therelf
As a CNC, I can tell you that you absolutely do NOT NEED MCT oil. It won't really hurt you to use it, but you simply don't need it. It's best to make ketones from your own body fat as you will lose more weight. And as far as the microbiome is concerned, there is not enough tangible research that shows it's even a legitimate thing of consideration for health or weight loss. I encourage you to do your own research on the subject.
When I had first seen the video the Mary Newport made on her husband Steve, I went out and bought a few containers of coconut oil. My friend gave it to someone in her family. I don't know whether they followed the instructions or not, but it didn't see to help with someone's memory. I gave a container to someone else I knew and it didn't seem to do anything for the person they were feeding it to either. I wish I could do my own study. What do you think about the MCT oil. Is that good for memory loss?
What id you are NOT on a keytone diet. My friends mom is losing her memory. I told her to give her coconut oil. Would MCT oil be better? When your husband was on the MCT oil was he doing a Keytone diet? Would MCT be harmful if one was NOT doing a Keytone diet and still took this?
Stiff delivery then, easy breezy playful delivery now? More proof that keto/low carb improves the entire package! What a delightful, gradual manifestation of evidence! 😍😍
If MCT oil does not break a fast, what about other supplements. My wife and I do IMF and take supplements instead of our meals as we usually only eat once a day. If there is a problem with the supplements breaking a fast when should you take them?
What is your take on the relationship of regular MCT use and higher bad cholesterol? Started Keto and my cholesterol went up. Doc told me to reduce fat intake, eggs and red meat consumption. MCT is pretty high in saturated fat ... mine is 14 gr/1T or 70%.
Your doctor was likely only looking at general cholesterol and not the more specific types. Look into Advance Testing and the different types of cholesterol. You will learn that carbohydrates make more of the bad type of bullet style proteins that get caught in damaged arteries and Saturated fats tend toward more big fluffy ones that are neutral and not harmful at all.
I alternate between MCT oil and Perfect Keto collagen which includes MCT powder. I noticed stomach discomfort with Perfect Keto but not with MCT oil? Any ideas why this would happen?
Keto is an ancient herb used in Ethiopia for thousands of years. It is recommended to take only one teaspoon for no more than 3 days conservative days on empty stomach, wait 6 hours before following meal, cause it can hurt the liver. So, if you want to repent wait 21-30 days in between. Usually, Ethiopians take it once or twice a year for 3 days at a time. Hope this’ll help. 🙏🙏from Ethiopia
