When you lifted the hood on that 56 Ford I expecting to see a 292 Y Block. I was surprised by the later model 5.0. Glad to see that the owner and or builder kept it all Ford. The shifter cable bushing let go on our 2000 GMC. I removed the lever, ground off the pin and drilled a hole. I used a stainless steel bolt , washers and a lock nut. I wasn't going to trust just replacing the bushing.

Yeah, it's a solid car. The fix you did is my preferred method, but they don't like us doing too many "mods" on customer stuff.

man I miss those old cars my first car was a 57 Pontiac , then a 51 ford custum 2 door, then a 66 ford car xl 500 , then a 64 galaxy 500 , , then I went chevy , my bad

Thanks for the video Jimmy! I worked on a 1958 FC Holden today, it's been parked up for 30 years. Not much rust, paint a bit faded but otherwise it's in good shape. So far everything has come loose without a problem but I'm not looking forward to unsticking the brake drums. Today I got the ignition sorted and got it turning on the starter only to find 4 of the 6 cylinders have no compression as they have bent pushrods. I'll see what I can see with the inspection camera before we go any further. Enjoy your cruise!

Yeah, this car is solid. Its only downfall is 4 doors, but some love them. Less expensive and great family cruiser!

The leaver on the transmission is miss matched to pull leaver on the throttle body. Was a ford machinc in the 80's. There is an adjustable pivot on the throttle body. Its adjusted on closed throttle. Pull the pin at the top, the cable should be pulled snug. No play when you pull it off the ball or pivot on throttle body. The part on the 56 trans. "Leaver" is for a carburetor or the old throttle body injection. You're right , very important. ☠️

The 56 Ford , the customer concern about the hard downshifting when coming to a stop.. now is he manually pulling it down ? It’s normal for the A O/D if the TV cable is set high to hold the gears longer.. it will make the transmission last much longer. I wouldn’t worry about it.

My parents bought a 56 Ford like that one brand new. Used oil from the beginning, the dealer said that it was normal. After much back and forth the dealer tore the engine down and found the rings missing on one piston. They didn’t own another Ford until he bought a F350 to tow his camper.

Wow, that is amazing. I have heard some stories like that on some brands. The diagnosis would be one plug fouling before the others. :)

Updates are ridiculous. Most pay 0.2-0.4 and the way Honda decides it is that they claim each tech should have 2 bays, so the time is for bringing the car in and then back out. They assume you do another job while the update is being done. All I know is that I only have 1 bay to work out of

It's amazing how little these big companies care for their employees doing the actual work. The CEO likely got a 8 million dollar bonus for higher profits taken from the employees. :/

Need cable and leaver off of 87 to 91 Crown Vic. It needs to be a cable, not a rod!!!!!

Yeah, this has a cable mounted in the Ford brackets top and bottom. The rod is custom shifter stuff.
