Using this tool I got to measure push rod. This damn booster I got 8” dual is touching the master piston when it’s screwed all the way in. So basically the only option you have is to have a little bit of preload.
Well I guess we’ll see how the brakes are after I get this disc kit on. Originally I couldn’t bolt on the master due to rod being too long like yours was. So I turned it all the way in til it’s touching the little jam nut. I can get my master on now but according to this tool it’s not correct. We’ll see. This is the second master and 8” dual booster that has done this. My old one did so I order a Complete kit for 55 Chevy and it’s the same so maybe it’s off the master piston enough. Idk.
Nice Car !!!! I am Currently fixing my 57 wagon as well :)) Hope to see some links to where you got your front disk brake kit and the power brake unit ?? I am leaving mine all drum brakes (no power) for now, until I get it up and running and driving🤞 Thanks for the Videos Sincerely Gee~Lee 💃
That's exactly what I did. I had some close call stopping situations that reassured me I NEED disc brake safety. Front Brake kit from speedway. Rear was summit house brand which was re boxed "right stuff" brand. All of those "house" brands....(summit, jegs, speedway) are all the same I'd suspect. I have a significant amount of 57 chevy stuff on here... thx for connecting...glad I could help
Thanks for the video. Can you recommend a disc/disc manuel master cyl. For my 57 210 post. I have explorer rear and front disc as well. Thx in advance.
Based on MY personal experience.... I'm not sure a disc/disc Manuel M/C is even possible. I was dead set on Manual disc/disc...but quickly realized why I needed a 1⅛ bore cylinder... for the volume that the disc need. Following realization #2... the human leg does not have enough power to physically push THAT much (big bore) without some kinda assistance. Hence the REAL REASON why power brakes were invented. But there is one M/C possibility... www.speedwaymotors.com/GM-Corvette-Cast-Iron-Master-Cylinder-1-Inch-Bore,51673.html?CSEGoogle&CSE&CSEGOOGLE&gclid=CjwKCAjwqZSlBhBwEiwAfoZUIDPa9X_ACVlYmM8irbmSN0UbJPT5TFsodBxJRc56V8xF6zdwuhBF0BoCPkIQAvD_BwE
@@hotrodswoodshed7405 That's good to know, cause that's the master cylinder I am installing on my 56 2dr 210. I have 1969 Camaro/Chevelle disc on the front, original new shoes on the rear. Right now I am trying to adjust the brake pedal rod correctly as I had very little pedal and when bleeding I was getting no air bubbles. Found that the rod was adjusted way too short. Layed under dash tonight for half an hour slowly turning the threaded rod with a pair of needle nose plies until my 70 year old hands gave out. But I have more pedal already. Try some more tomorrow. :)
