The Kaba 8 was developed and patented in 1934, and probably was the world's first dimple lock. Not bad for an 80 year old design.

Brother, at the begining of the video you are holding heaven with austrian Evva...a Kaba penta or quattro, cmon, those are extremely high quality locks. Even just attempting to pick em is an act of great courage and determination that i certainly do appreciate. Keep up!

Well, in the end, at least in most modern houses here in Spain, the weak point is not the lock, but the door frame. Most locks are very crazy indeed, even my front fence door has a 8-pin lock, and it's just one meter high. Thieves normally dont even bother with the lock, they just pry the friggin' frame out. It's amazing how badly most builders install security doors.

OMG! I am actually from Thun and I just looked at my bunch of keys and there are a Kaba 8 a Keso 1000 a Sea 2 and some other Keys I thought it would've been cool to see the Sea 2 and literally in this moment you pulled up the Sea 3 in the Video. What I like most about the Sea locks is that when you've inserted the Key from the inside, you can't even get into the Keyway from the outside. Genious Insane.

Why are there so many "standard" pin tumbler locks out there, trying to be "highly secure", when so many manufactures is able to produce such nasty locks? Every time I hear you say "this is a very nasty lock, not many people out there can pick it", I can't help but to think "why the f**k ain't all locks made like that then" ;). I know the production cost is a big deal, but I don't get why all "regular" Ruko house locks (I live in Denmark) doesn't have a nasty key way - just an example.. Why do they add security pins to prevent pick locking, but keep an easy access for a lock pick? Why is the EVA 3KS or the Haldemann SEA 3 such rare, exotic products, when they seem 100 times better than every house key and padlock I can find in my local hardware store? Also, great channel - I really like your work!

this video really helps with my motivation. I'm also struggling with some of the cylinders in this video. I though it was just me. BTW , the Vachette should have very wierd shaped pins. Almost torpedo shaped.

I had a key like that second one for my University accommodation in the UK. One row of pins was for the front doors of the block, and the other row of pins opened my room: so only one key was necessary for both doors, but only I could access my room.

The Keso Lock you showed around 3mins is what our landloard uses to secure the maindoors of his apartments. good to see they are extremely secure.

WUHAHAHAHA I was even more evil then I remembered :D The TS5000 from Abus with that ultra keyway has active sidepins, not passive ones! I love this lock and it was still made in Germany. A shame Abus stopped producing it.... it was top notch if you ask me! I know a company near Frankfurt which uses the SEA3 lock in ALL of their cupboards and drawers!!! How crazy is that?

All the locks i use in my house are on this list. In my flat we use the lock from 5:20 to lock the room we keep the trahs cans in.

I have to say, I really love the look of those freaky dimple keys from the first half of this video. Double sided, side-dimpled monsters. How difficult is it to buy these locks? They’re a great piece of design. I wouldn't even know where to start looking.

For some of those ridiculous paracentric gates, I made a pick set out of some very stiff/springy thin allen wrenches that I smoothed over at different SPP useful angles. The tight keyways require using about 3 or 4 of these picks at different angles sometimes to be able to push the pins far enough while not pushing other pins. I'm looking into various gauges of spring steel wire to test the tighter entries, but rod-based picks are a lot tricker to use and require a lot of work and practice compared to a good half-diamond or standard flat pick. You REALLY need to file them nice and rounded to prevent hangups on the inside of the lock.

and notice some of those dimple-locks have front-end shimming as well. Fun stuff. I've tried a lot of these myself, and I can't say I've been successful, I've been LUCKY ONCE using some strange voodoo techniques that required some black candles, a circle on the floor, a knife, and a chicken.

These video's are basically nightmares for beginning lock pickers (like me) lol. A couple of these -especially with the nasty key-ways) actually made me shudder. The equivalent of the lock bogyman lol

Hi Bill this is Ryan and I recommend that you just call Sparrows lock picking company and tell them what make and model of Euro lock you are trying to pick open and I'm sure there engineering dept will make you a pick to open it and then ship it right to you for a review. We know that Sparrows is the equivalent of Snap-on in quality when comparing tools and they are the best and that's why I ordered the Classic Set from them last Saturday night and it is on the way to me now.

The one @1:54 looks very much like the key to the storage locker room in the basement of my apartment block. It has some electronics inside the plastic part of the key, that interact with the lock When they installed the locks I slid off the plastic on the key because I thought it was too bulky on my key ring, but then the key wouldn't open the lock anymore. Fortunately I didn't throw away the thing, so after I slid it back on, the key was working again. BTW, the lock goes "BIP" when you insert the key. If you use the wrong key it goes "BIIIP BIIIP BIIIP BIIIP".

My naughty lock is still the Brinks 527. Always getting a false set but thats it... No Open. Nice collection!

thats why in europe, thieves always break in through the windows :D One time in Paris, a locksmith we had called actually climbed from window to window on the 3rd floor because he couldn't get the door open.

Very nasty locks there buddy. I got my LOB Euro picked but was a swine. Drops into a big false set but you get no counter rotation and have to manually turn plug back on itself to open it. I may have been very lucky with it. After picking it I just popped it on display with other locks so not played with again. May have a play later

You could try to use feeler gauges to make picks out of... you can get them as thin as .001" ;)

those fancy keys looks cool but those flimsy barrels can be snapped in 2 with no effort, i notice the first 2 locks had reinforcements, but the rest have no chance

I'm not sure how well it would work, but possibly cut some X-Ray film into a tip for a pick that you mount by whatever means you figure out to the end of an otherwise strait pick? Just an idea, pretty sure it won't last too long, but it should be flexible enough, with feedback.

I remember not that long (5-7 years ago) locks where not hard to pick an amateur lock smith could open them no problems, now.. well that's a different story.

I've never seen some of this wierd ABUS in Germany in my 26 years, I'm very surprised such thing exists. As far as I know, DOM is a very good brand if you want to secure something, especially the more exotic types of them.

Ohhh boy . . . .your poor wife; my wife would throw me out and cash in the locks (brass, stainless) if I had that many locks around the house ;) I have to hide most of my lockpicking items in my briefcase and take 2 brief cases (1 for work and 1 for lockpicking play) to work. Im also hiding stuff in my locker at work . . . . . Lol.

I have similar Keso as my primary lock --> www.sicher24.de/images/categories/KESO_4000/keso_4000.jpg At first I was concerned about that incredible simple keyhole, but then found cross-section drawing and spring-loaded pin inside key. I really wonder if you'll manage to pick that one :)

Regarding the Evva 3KS: There are a bunch of pickers having picked them successfully. ImSchatten360 has picked it on RU-vid (he is trustworthy!) Another guy, who has an interesting approach to picking high-security locks (he uses a fibre wire to illuminate the inside of the lock so that he can, has a description on his blog: unlocked.own-hero.net/2013/03/19/picking-slider-based-high-security-locks---part-2-evva-3ks/ - he also is very trustworthy - you can find him on all kinds of lockpicking competitions around Germany. Regarding your Abus EC (probably EC750/850 judging by the key and keyway): I've picked a similar one (EC550 - only difference: two passive pins instead of 4 in EC750/850) - from my point of view it is fairly easy to pick but the warding and the passive pins can give you a hard time. If you got something that feels like a really deep false set but you can't find a responding pin, it might be that you already picked the lock but triggered one of the passive pins in the process. Ad Evva DPI: You picked something with a similar keywar in your video #126 :P I have never seen one of these with 7 pins btw. - only 5 and 6 pinners. That's interesting! Also all sidebars I know of are semi-passive: You can pick the lockk but than the core will get stuck at 8 o'clock and you will have to "pick" the sidebar. Newer DPIs btw. don't have pins anymore - they use sliders with false gates just like the Evva Dual and they are just plain evil. Never managed to pick mine, I always get stuck in the false gates. ^^ Ad Wilka: Be careful not to overset the pins - Wilka uses serrated pins as drives Ad BKS: Thehehehehe.. I've got the exact same lock and I did manage to pick it exactly once. and it was sheer luck. D: And when you have a look at the bittings you might come to the conclusion that Adrian hates you :P (Nah, he is a good guy ^^) Thanks for showing us your naughty bucket - always fees good to see that you are not the only one struggling with certain locks (or just not being able to pick some "simple-looking" locks)

I need a good unique 40/45 lock for my new apartment in Eastern Europe. If someone can recommend something unique not found here to throw off burglars because break ins are awfully common here.
