A 59gal steel fuel tank was left out in the weather for years and seamed to far gone to ever be used again. However with a bit of time and effort this old steel tank is almost as good a new.

Steps I used.
1. Wire wheeled the outside and primed
2. Pressure washed the inside
3. Soaked with vinegar and water solution
4. Pressure washed the inside
5. Soaked with vinegar and water solution
6. Pressure washed the inside
7. Dryed the insided with blower
8. Dryed the insided with boot dryer for a few days
9. Red-Kote applied to the inside
10. Under coated the outside bottom of the tank
11. Topcoated the whole tank

I'd say that turned out pretty dang good! Thanks for the video. I have a tank in about the same condition yours was in, and this was helpful.

Muriatic acid would have been more efficient. Red coating over any speck of rust will create bigger issues down the road. Good luck!

We use vinegar (the kind from the grocery store) for a lot of our cleaning... I'd never have thought that (although a stronger concentration) would be useful for cleaning a fuel tank! Indeed, there is nothing that you do not do!

Vinegar here is 32 %, don t know why I would come water in it, it would compromise the work of the vinegar, a tank like shown I would just cut open and sandblast, the cut out should be at a place that can be reached for treatment after welded together again.

cool way to clean it up. the worst part would be the smell. it would smell like a pickled sausage factory for a mile around haha. subbed you back. good luck.

Yeah pretty bad but it's a good weed killer.
