Location: 38th Avenue Flushing, Queens.
[NOTE: I accidentally uploaded 2 separate fires in this video, the first 7 minutes or so are from an All Hands fire in upper Manhattan on 11/13 1:00am. The rest of the video is from the 5th Alarm in Flushing later that same day. Woops lol]
Around 11pm Friday night FDNY in Queens responded to a call for fire in a store on 38th Avenue. Engine 273 turned onto the block and were met with dense low hanging smoke covering the entire block. This smoke condition prompted 273 to transmit a 10-75 confirming a working fire. It took a few minutes to locate the store with fire and companies forced entry. Initially the sprinkler system doused the flames but a small bit of fire managed to extend up into the ceiling, into the duct work, and into a setback. Smoke conditions were so bad the Chief's decided to bring all members out to conduct a roll call and regroup. Eventually firefighters got good water on the fire from a roof on the exposure three side.
