@@Shadamyfan-rs8xc yeah that's what I mean it makes the game way easier. I mean the AI doesn't get the option to switch so it's a huge advantage for you. To each their own I just prefer set because you're forced to strategise more. Like competitive battles are always set mode.
Well I'm guessing you have no clue as to when the creator started playing. If they're a new player, then you should expect them to play on switch and should be impressed that they beat Cynthia, especially considering she's possibly the most difficult champion. If they're an experienced player just looking to play for fun, there's nothing wrong with playing on switch. It's not like they're playing to prove something like you would in competitive. Why make it harder on yourself when you're just there for fun?
Denis Thomas the AI was pretty stupid in Diamond and pearl if this was platinum, spiritomb would’ve shot off a shadow ball/dark pulse on the first turn
just a lonely ralts passin through the AI was probably trying to predict a switch-in to something that would resist dark and/or bug, like a fighting or poison type
For those who don’t know. Cynthia’s Pokémon’s had maxed iv’s and a competitive level team, besides her Garchomp is the highest level Pokémon of all Pokémon’s League in all games. The true final battle of Pokémon that was so impactful. I love her
I love the piano as you talk to her. Sounds like you about to go against an extremely intelligent foe and then the fast pace music plays and you realize you're fighting Gods reincarnation
Omg. That was probably the best description of her battle music setup ever! And yes, that piano music set a deceptively civilized tone. And then I was immediately obliterated afterwards. 😂 #CynthiaGaveMePTSD
The team made up of some of the rarest non-legendary Pokémon in gen 4 Garchomp- gibble was only found in one completely out of view cave. Milotic- Feebas was ridiculous to find in gen 4 because only two random squares of water in a lake could get him. Lucario- you get one riolu for doing a side quest across the map from the elite four. Spiritomb- obviously the most difficult because you had to... have FRIENDS! and then steal their flag like 100 times in a minigame. Really cool team to say the least
I remembered playing Diamond when I was in middle school and I didn't know much about Pokemons cause I didn't do much googling about them so when I saw spiritomb I was like "wtf is that pokemon??? and why no moves are super effective against it" I was super panic it was fun as hell, good time
In all fairness, that Alakazam lasted a LOT longer than it should have, got Cynthia to use a Full Restore, AND had a chance to Recover. So... maybe it really was psychic...
Jesus was the AI really this bad in Diamond and Pearl? Lol Spiritomb using psychic on alazkazam, garchomp using giga impact on empoleon even though it has earthquake AND brick break
In terms of atmosphere and intensity this is probably my favorite battle in the entire series. It truly feels like you’re giving everything you’ve got against one of the best trainers in the world. and the amazing piano before you fight her helps set the mood even more.
Agreed. It really felt like your life depended on the outcome of this battle. There hasn’t really been another champion quite like her from what I’ve seen
Nice when I first beat Cynthia I challenged the league using only Torterra and Staraptor. The final battle between Staraptor and Garchomp was so intense they each had one HP left. The fate of the battle depended on the accuracy of Staraptor's fly and he won. I'll never forget that battle my Nintendo DS was so close to dying that time too.
Garchomp was hanging on by a thread it looked like she had no HP left yet was still standing. My Staraptor on the other hand had 4 HP left and while Garchomp was recovering from Giga Impact I had Staraptor use Fly to win the battle. It was so intense if Fly had missed, Cynthia would've won and I would've lost.
Cynthia, the only champion in Pokemon history that actually deserved the title. Her and Red were the only battles that actually challenged me as a kid. Pokemon is so easy nowadays you can beat it blindfolded
They actually just "nerfed" her in Platinum because there is a 2nd fight against her and the pokemon are at lvl70+. And i think togekiss is much better as a water/ground pokemon who is 4× weak to grass. As a first time playthrough i would say Cynthia is harder on platinum. The big weakness of her in platinum is her Lucario not knowing earthquake, but it's fine since you could use a flyingtype against it and you wouldnt care. At platinum she knows a rock move instead what hits very effective on flyingtypes. It always depends on the situation. I guess it made the solo-starter-pokemonrun easier with empoleon what i guess A LOT of people did as a child. But playing it with not overleveled pokemon is more of a big thread. Since the AI was better in platinum (see the spiritomb using 3 psychics on a psychicpokemon in diamond) she never got a nerf.
When I was 9,I beaten Cynthia in like 9-10 battles. The memories of screaming and crying to my mom that I couldn't beat her was so painful. But when I actually beat her,I screamed "YES!MOM I FINALLY BEATEN CYNTHIA!!". My mom recorded that moment and the video is still intact. Cynthia sure was hard, but the nostalgia of it is lovely to look back.
I remember beating her with my level 98 Staraptor and level 54 Torterra, my team was so under level cause I didn't want grind exp from wild Pokemon lol
Remember back when I was 7, fighting Cynthia for the first time, beat her when I was 9 😂 these games are forever immortalized in my mind, absolutely legendary.
This is the best champion fight because it feels like you’re fighting *the champion* not just a gym leader with higher levels, someone like you who you could have played in a previous game, with a varied team that can and does steamroll players
The sweat on your brow, the intensity of it all, just so captivating. Nothing like it and just the feeling of when they missed a key ability was so huge
Real talk, this has to be the toughest battle of any Pokémon game. Her team is insanely well balanced with its typing, specialities, and movesets. It really inspired me to build more strategic teams afterwards and made the games that much more fun.
He is using some kind of randomiser, there is no way Cynthia would play that bad. Every damn play i saw, they are using randomisers to make the game much easier.
Denis Thomas The AI in Pokemon goes through their moves and sees what works. If they notice something is extremely strong, they will start to spam it (unless you hit low HP.) It was just extremely lucky that Spiritomb didnt use dark pulse earlier.
the fact this is a 13 minute video shows why she is still my favorite champion to this day, ever since childhood she's been my idol and her team has been my goals, finally just got myself all perfect stats on all 6 and i don't lose very many battles
My first game for portable was diamond! Amazing nostalgia listening to the music in his game again! Although my first pokemon game in general was XD Gale of Darkness to this day Evee will always be my favorite
One of the champion battles I’ll never forget in any Pokémon game. Her’s and Lance’s battle theme from crystal made it feel like the biggest deals of all time 😳 makes me miss playing diamond 😭 one of my favorite champions ever
It’s always really fun to come back here and see this fight knowing 7 year old me some how managed to sweep pretty much the whole game with my empoleon, i also used my master ball on a murkrow for some reason, simpler times lmao
I remember when I was younger after beating the game when I started using action replay, I went to battle cynthia again and stole her Milotic with the catch trainer pkmn code for shits and giggles... Then I battled her again to steal her garchomp
I thought to myself ( well this is basically suicide) looking at my team who none was over 60 Nontheless I won. Earthquake on Spiritomb Wood hammer on Milotic. Woodhammer again on Gastrodon and Ice beam for Garchomp Fireblast for Roserade and An earthquake for Lucario but unfortunately I ran out of pp even though it was max 16. So some wood hammers killed Lucario.
@@alyssadavenport629 i feel like if they make Cynthia's region they will give us a full force of her pokemon set because remember her region is still a mystery
