You are doing a good job ,if i may add actual pre heat is 500 degrees along with 500 degrees post heat ,cover with heat blanket to sliw cool ,king pin is 8630 matl
chase I have to do the same job my fifth wheel plate on my dryvan is rotted out on one side how expensive was the plate or you just bought a sheet of plate and drill the holes out
right now I cut the top side of my trailer floor at and we remove 2 5 gallons bucket of rust but the upper coupler was still good so we just cut one section from the left side to the right side and repairing the rusted section
Hope your going to do that right. LOL Nice welding and I think the rest of the trailer will be junked. But the kingpin will be good long after. Be nice if you could mount that to the 5th wheel. Back under the trailer, then lower the trailer down on the plate. Make your job easy for sure.
Supposed to help with warpage, metal distortion and stress cracks in certain material. May not be required but figured wasn't a bad idea on this particular project.
