Have you ever experienced the plugs on a new 6.4 injector harness being loose and not clicking in? Your video saved me the cost of the tool since I already had the body pin pliers.

Those pliers are a gift from heaven, before I seen them in one of your videos I don't know how many of those body pins I broke taking stuff apart haven't broken one since I got those thanks a lot for the videos they are great keep it up

How can you find wich injector is bad? My truck does not show any codes, however it sends out white smoke and that is consistent with bad injector conditions from other people videos

Brian I have a cuestion the plastic cover of the inyector harness broke in some pieces and i put 3 tie wrap in the fuel rail for secure the cables with out the plastic in some places, the cuestion to you is the heat of the diesel rail can damage that cables?

Great vid. Watching this reminded me of mine and all the problems I had. I loved the 7.3. The 6.0 was ok. I think I got lucky. But the 6.4 was a disaster. There is a special place in hell for Navistar. Oh and the hippies who created the DPF. Haha. But the 6.7 is the best diesel I've ever owned. Even better then my destroked 02 Ford that I'll never sell. The best thing Ford ever did besides building the Raptor was building their own diesel. It's solid. And damn It hauls I forget I'm towing sometimes

Great video Brian - you inspire me! I own an 08 F-350SD 6.4 and I need to lift the cab to change the oil cooler and exhaust head bots. I am looking at buying a hoist to setup my garage to be able to do it this year (the cost of the hoist is about the same as paying a shop to re&re the cab). Any advise or pointers you can share about the removal process once the 8 bolts are out? Would you consider doing a video of a cab removal?

+Keith Mallett you should be able to do that with the cab on, try removing the motor mounts and rolling the motor with a jack, i think there's enough room to do the manifolds. the oil cooler shouldn't be a big deal, the turbos def come out with the cab on, i've done at least 12 with the cab on.

Brian, it seems like you could just cut/grind out a thin plate of metal to bridge the gap between the outer forks of the body pin pliers and fit in to the slot around the plug. Then you could keep the plate separate and maybe have a whole range of them that fit, or weld it to the body pin pliers if you're after something more permanent

Great video Brian. My question is How in the worl does the Injectors seal to the Cylinder Head??? They have no Threads or anything to bolt them into place and with a Diesel being such High Compression I would think they would need a way stay in...

+TRX Vlogger There's a iron bracket bridge that holds them in. Sealing? There's a crush washer that goes around the end of the nozzle, and an o-ring higher up that keeps the oil from being contaminated by fuel and visa versa. It's pretty butch. The bracket bolt is fixed in there so when you pull the bolt, it pulls the injector up and out too.

Apparently my phone heard me complaining about this yesterday, I struggled for about 5 minutes, muttering the whole time about how there doesn't appear to actually be a tab or any kind of release, then this video pops up today.

thank you for writing back to me appreciate it I pretty much bled the system more than a couple of times we're talking about past 10 and it still will not start I cannot figure out where I went wrong I took it apart again today put it back the way it was cuz I got a fuel injector not working code and now the code that I get is no pressure on the fuel rail on the driver side

+Richard Medina Ya, you're welcome man. You'd probably do the same for me! You've got high side air trapped on the drivers side fuel rail it sounds like. You need the bleeder bolt that you can put a hose onto on that back line on the fuel cooler. I'll make a quick video on how to make one and post it tomorrow if I can. It will be on my theskiviking channel though. It's my do what I want all the time channel. What was the code #?

i was watching FordTechMakuloco removing a turbo from a Ford Truck. The turbo was actually under the dash. Watching him remove a bunch of crap and then do a wrestling match to get it out was hilarious. I kept wondering how hard it would be to just remove the cab. Thanks for the answer.

International CAN be great, but not under stress and low budget. In business you can have it 1. FAST 2. CHEAP and 3. QUALITY, but you have to pick two. I like quality, and I'm not rich so I go for cheap quality that comes slowly. You know, like good things come to those who wait. Of course everyone knows about things that are fast and cheap- they're typically low quality and so on.

Hey briansmobile1, I have an '89 f250 7.5L, my reverse will not kick in until I drive for a mile, but if there is a flood and it reaches the transmission it will not go in reverse!!! transmission also makes harsh shifts and the last shift will not happen unless if you floor the gas pedal at first!!! Need some help, I try to do all the work my self, but I can't figure it out though!!! Can you help me out???

I did not use the special tool nor the other tools that you said we can use and now the good part about it is that I mean I did take it off carefully the harness off the injector and still I made sure I cleaned everything and even the plugs that go with the glow plugs clean them pretty good put electrical grease on it and put it back together and still nothing

+Richard Medina Check your computer connections and make sure you bleed the high side (rear) fuel line on the fuel cooler.

You had to take the cab off of the truck!! Maybe I should have included that in my "How to check oil" instructions, in your last video! Just curious, how many hours are involved in R &R of the cab?

+roadkill5333 its a ford... Its like 2 bolts and some velcro to get the cab off. They engineered it that way cause they knew you'd have to get to it often.

+Albion Laster Oh if only. There's 8 long loctited the whole way bolts of death. And if you use an impact, the nut will just blossom the braces on each side and you're furshitzled. You have to heat them to loosen the loctite and then crank them by hand with a cheater pipe the whole way out. And then repeat.... 7 more times. The rest is pretty easy like you say though. I just hate the 8.

+roadkill5333 i think book time for R and R is like 4 hours. its just as easy to reinstall tho. keep in mind im a ford diesel tech so i do it a lot and know exactly what to remove, move, heat, etc.

Never work on a 08 6.4 l and just did the injectors too now it won't start bleed it numerous times still nothing any ideas would appreciate it

In a 6.4? In mine I had someone turn the key to on without starting and waited until the fuel pump turned off, and then turned it off and bled out the fuel /air out of the schrader valve by the fuel cooler. Had to do it a couple times and it's much easier with another person

+Richard Medina Double check your computer plugs on both sides. I actually missed the fuel pressure/volume plug under the soft heat shield on top rear of bank 1. Had codes P0090 and P0001.

+Richard Medina Also with the replacement of the injectors you have to use a banjo bolt on the rear fuel line that has a hose fitting. I made a video on doing that today. You bleed the front one with the shrader first while the back one is hooked up and vented. Then you remove the front (low pressure side) shrader valve and key cycle the high side one or two more times if needed. Should fire right up.

Man I wish we had trucks like that over here in the UK. The closest thing we have to your American trucks is a Ford ranger 3.2l Diesel and that is still small in comparison to a F150!!

+briansmobile1 yeah I've seen the odd big American pickup over here, which is obviously an import. But our pickups are toys compared to some of the beasts you have. With my licence I can only drive up to 3.5 tonnes so some of your trucks over here I would need a C1 category licence which would cover me up to 7.5 tonnes or a light goods vehicle.

+happy543210 Ya, they lost their @$$&$ on the 03-04 6.0's so they're fishing on the back-end to make it up. In all seriousness though, my hat's off to them for the Deerborn plant alone. That's pretty awesome that they can pull that off in the US despite OSHA, the EPA, US tort law, USAWU, and everything else that makes US manufacturing a suicide mission. They've got balls and they make it happen. My Ram was built in the United States of Mexico.

+Veikra I think the head bolts and gaskets on the 6.0 2003-2004 were terrible, and the 6.4L valve train could use some &*(*%^(^*% metal and timing adjustment, but then it would fail emissions and cost too much.

briansmobile1 Well, others manufacturers were able to Ahem GMC with a 15 yo engine and Dodge with a previously stationary engine...So ford werent trying too hard

Well, my 6.4 has 287,000 mi, used up one transmission but the motor runs great. It has been deleted most of it's life. Yep, tow vehicle dually. Hope this doesn't come back to jinx me as am leaving tomorrow on 1500 mile plus trip with Artic Fox 11.5 ft. camper to see the Redwoods.
