On the 2nd story. Why oh why would u douse the fire!?!? Makes no sense. I was waiting for the author to say "we then scrambled around to find anything burnable to make the fire bigger" i face palmed on that one 😢

These stories are the only thing that helps me sleep at nights. I definitely have to be listening to darkness prevails even if it's not bedtime but just doing regular chores 🥰😍🥳

There are few rules for solo hiking that I follow, whether you believe in the “paranormal” or not this is just for basic survival reasons too. For me, I’ve done a lot of solo hiking/being deep in the woods alone. I’ve experienced a lot. So, my #1 tip is to never go in heavy. You should aways enter(any place, but especially) wild places clean, that goes literally and metaphorically. This is such a vital part of it. If you go in carrying life baggage, you become vulnerable spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and even physically because you will not be fully present and the same can be said about the environment that it all can be effected by this. Regardless, not being fully present is a very dangerous thing to do in the wilderness. You must be able to pay attention to everything. It all speaks for itself. This is also said for those who go in group too. #2 Always be respectful. Don’t go in loud, playing music, etc. clean up after yourself. You should always leave the place in better condition than you arrived. Leaving no trace is better. But regardless. Actually, Learning is just as important as paying attention is. Quietly learn. Patterns are everywhere. -If you are going to unfamiliar areas, study up on it. Both trail maps, common edible and medicinal plants, reviews that help people try to identify common problems areas. The history of the place. -Always have a form of protection on you, multiple forms is better. -Plan for the unknown, not just for the trip. By that I mean add a few more granolas in the pack etc. another small match box. -Don’t overdo it with the packing though. It’s one thing to have what you need and a little extra, but it should not be an entire suitcase worth of item. The less you have the better. You are entirely dependent on yourself, so be smart about. Also, break in the you are carry, like the backpack, boots, clothes. -It’s not a fashion show either, bring clothes that are both comfy and actually good for the hikes. -If you are completely new to solo hiking, don’t just dive in. Knowing your limits is also a must and planning what you do accordingly. Don’t push your luck. Train yourself for it. -Don’t have a “it could never happen to me” mindset. Thorough think things out. Every move you make matters. -Finally, get trained in first aid. It’s like a gun, hopefully you never have to use it but it’s better to have the knowledge and tools needed. Whether it is you that ends up in an injury or you come across someone. Stay safe out there! ❤

Grew up 45 min southeast of Atlanta on the South River in between Newton / Henry Counties from 1977 - 1996. Only light source we had outside @ night was when the moon was out. A lot of spooky / creepy sounds @ 0 Dark Thirty hours. Never went anywhere without a firearm handy. Thanks DP for the shout out to Georgia.

Hi i was looking for an older story of yours and couldnt find it. The story is about a young man who bought a farm not far from the place he is working in. First he is occupied with the fruit trees on his land and the harvest in late summer. I think in autumn he noticed strange things on the farm (dont remember what exactly). While hunting he waits in a hunting stand and hears deer beeing chased by coyotes. The chase comes to a halt as the coyotes get scared by something bigger...(dont remember the rest). Overall the Story has major Folk Horror vibes and i loved it. I hope you can help, thank you!

Forest wife is Iroquois folklore if memory serves, at least I've read about in a book about those. However it's very similar to the Celtic Doaine Sidhe and the Nordic Huldra.

Sorry, what was most unbelievable is that people in Georgia mistake bob cats for mountain lions and vice versa. They look nothing alike! If we get them here in Texas, they certainly have them in Georgia.
