A little tip for cooking off your ground beef is to brown each side of the cube before you start to break it up. Sear each side for about 2 minutes to develope a crust then start to break up the meat. You get much better results in browning and flavor.

Hi, Autumn, I've been listening to some of Dr. Casey Means' blogs on health and wellness. During her talks, she frequently references strong sources of (regenerative) protein, fat, and fiber ( i.e., *basil*, hemp & chia seeds), movement (every 30 minutes), and other health and wellness protocols. As I was listening to Dr. Means, I realized EVERYTHING she mentioned I had already learned from watching your videos. Your content is clear, accessible, and engaging. Thank you for all you do for your community 🎉

Dont dismiss canned sardines without trying. To me, tastes exactly like tuna yet lower mercury concerns. 22g protein per can. I put franks hot sauce on it and eat it daily. Great protein source. Also pkg wild salmon.

I had a wound that did not heal well with the recommendation to really increase my protein. It took conscious effort at first but it really worked. They encouraged me to eat cottage cheese, yuck. But I did find out the different brands can make or break the taste test. I now eat Kemps cottage cheese cups, 5.6 oz with 19g of protein and 120 calories. I add the snack cup of unsweetened peaches at 25 calories with nutmeg. Good stuff. Low calories.

Siggi's yogurt 4% tastes great! I mix it with some protein powder so I can eat roughly 1/3 of my daily protein in 5 minutes, after breakfast but before leaving the house.... Siggi's 4% plain is a great replacement for sour cream too, IMO, since it is thicker/creamier than other yogurts.

Hi Autumn! I’m 64 years old and have been struggling with trying to lose about 10 pounds and tone up. I have tried a few strategies and each time with no luck. I have hypothyroidism coupled with the post menopause ugh it’s really tough! I have been watching your videos and have implemented your high protein low carb/sugar eating plan. I also do IF 16/8 and I’ve increased my step goal to 12,000 working up to 15,000 as you recommend. I’m losing glacierly slow but I’ve only been on this plan for a couple weeks. I just made your granola and am having it on Greek yogurt with protein powder. Oh my, it is SO good! This is a plan I think I can stick to. I only eat 2 meals but I don’t get hungry in between. I’m super excited and hopeful that I can be successful! I purchased your smoothie recipe book and making them for my husband also. I just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you!! I appreciate all the information your are providing! Hi to Trevor and Sage!

I have been making yogurt in my instant pot (using whole grass fed milk) for a long time now because of your channel. The other week, I made cottage cheese which was an even quicker process. I used lemon juice to create the curds, but will give vinegar a try next time. I have also learned that the leftover whey can be used in a variety of ways, including being a good meat tenderizer.

I'm eating more dairy (skyr, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc) to bump up my protein. But can you speak to the inflammatory issues that dairy can cause? I'm feeling like my skin is not looking as good with consuming all this dairy. Thank you!

If dairy isn’t working for you right now that’s fine! We’re all different. I would cut back on the dairy and up other sources of protein/fat (like meat/fish). Might be helpful to journal how you’re feeling with each change you make to your diet.

Hi Autumn Im a newbie to ur channel & also discovering the benefits of proteins for weight loss since 2023. I started eating more beef Jan 24 as my main sources of protein were chicken & pork. Here in the Uk the guidelines for protein are 50g a day for the average person but after watching Dr Mindy say its best to break a fast with 30g i am upping my goal to 60g min a day. I eat twice a day & really enjoy the benefits of fasting & wish i discovered this way of eating years ago. I just want to 🙏🏽 for ur channel my 1st nutritionist & i have binged watched a few vids the last few days. Ur baby is so cute & with all that hair too. I am very grateful to find ur channel just after the shock passing of Dr Moseley who spent his time teaching us the benefits of good food & what ultra processed does to us & slowly changing how we eat in the Uk. Blessings to u & ur family ur a shining 💫😇🙏🏽

I’ve been struggling (struggling!) to eat enough protein. I fill up so quickly that it’s just hard to get enough before I feel full. Pretty much every day, I have a bowl of skyr with fresh berries, and the other day it dawned on me. I can just have 1 1/2 servings of skyr with my berries instead of 1. That’s another (almost) 10 grams of protein, and not too much to eat in one sitting. On my salad, I added 6 ounces of chicken instead of 4. Another 15-ish grams. I realize this is not surprising to anyone, but I was so locked into thinking in terms of a “serving size” that I found myself searching for other things to eat for more protein, rather than simply having a bit more than a serving to begin with. It’s really made things so much easier and my protein intake has skyrocketed without any real effort!

I might do a full video on this because I've gotten a lot of questions on it! But to answer... I first used Intermittent Fasting to help heal my gut for a few years before introducing dairy. It wasn't super intentional, but I noticed that as my gut healed with IF, I was able to eat various dairy products without it causing issues. So then I just slowly incorporated more and more (fermented and low lactose options at first).

So comforting to hear IF supports gut health. I have questions on acne: Do you know if having a lot of sugar alcohol will make someone breakout with acne? Are anxiety and/or stress more responsible for breakouts? Which one of your over 800 videos addresses acne/breakouts best? Asking for a friend. Thank you Autumn. 💪❤️🇨🇦
@AutumnBates
@AutumnBates 3 месяца назад
Hi Guylaine!❤️ I haven't seen anything specific to sugar alcohol and acne, but I would imagine it could. Sugar alcohols can disturb the gut microbiome when eaten in larger amounts and the GI tract is often tied to skin health. Regarding stress - I've personally noticed this can cause the occasional breakout!

Good morning! Some people do have a genetic component where they negatively react to saturated fats. However, it's also important to look at other blood markers, as LDL doesn't give a complete image of heart health. Other great studied markers that you can ask your doctor about are HDL, triglycerides and cholesterol ratio.

Is it possible to acquire a taste for fish? I hate it so much. The smell and taste are so gross to me but I know I need to eat it but just don't know how to get myself to like it.
@callitags
@callitags 4 дня назад
I've been working on that a bit myself. It's not easy, but I've acquired a taste for some vegetables I didn't care for, so there's some hope. It helps if you have someone who likes fish and orders it when you go out so you can taste little bites of it. I've expanded my range of fish a bit, but still only like the really mild ones... pollack, haddock, cod. I think the more frequently you are exposed and try it, the faster you might get used to it? It's been pretty slow going for me.

how did you introduce dairy? I was vegan up until last year then started eating goat and sheep cheese and kefir, but I think it triggered my rosacea which now will not go away! Is there a specific strain of probiotic to help with lactose intolerance to heal the gut?
@AutumnBates
@AutumnBates 3 месяца назад

Great list. Even with brands like Safe Catch I still put seafood lower on the list because I try to keep mercury out of my diet. Have you tried raw dairy? It’s not pasteurized and it totally changed the way I taste dairy. With a few exceptions most milk now tastes cooked after having had raw milk.

I don't consume dairy and red meat, because I am suffering from piles. I don't like low fat dairy, I'd rather get the full benefit of full fat ones. I haven't had issue with lactose yet when it comes to protein powder, I don't know whether I should give concentrate or a blend ago over isolate which I prefer to use. As for fish, I know Autumn isn't a fan of salmon, I am,but it's too expensive where I live so I stick to pollock and canned skipjack tuna in brine. Cheers.

Hi Autumn, you didn’t grow up eating the proteins you mentioned, but having done masters in nutrition which is near the top, wouldn’t that have taught you to start eating them then? Did the masters in nutrition actually teach you the information in this video or did you source it elsewhere? Apologies for my terrible writing. There seems to be a lot of people with chronic, autoimmune and other health issues getting better and off medications by doing the opposite of professional mainstream healthcare recommendations. Regards..

You would think so! But even with all of my schooling, these high quality sources of protein weren't incredibly emphasized. Protein in general felt like it was always a lesser focus.

I agree with Autumn, the benefits of protein to the general public is a new phenomenon in the Uk but gym folk have known about it for years. In the uk protein still isnt mentioned on the macros on the front of food items we have to read the tiny print at the back which is so annoying for oldies (50's) like me💁🏾‍♀️👵🏿🤷🏿‍♀️

@@FarqueKnowsWhere can i ask just out of interest 1- how long have u been counting protein? 2 - what other macros do u check? I roughly count cals usually only for 5 days & don't count any fruit or veg as i like doing the 30 plant based a week. I also count fat but now trying to keep under 80g rather than 70g the uk average. I feel so much better as i now realise i have been eating too much ultra processed diet shit without even knowing & im bloody angry with food manufacturers & supermarkets right now to be honest😬🤥🧐 Always known to have protein as part of a meal but i never ate enough until the last 18 months when i started counting.

@@dionnereid1737 been watching learning about health and nutrition on Dr Ken Berry, Dr Eric Berg, Dr Shawn Baker, Dr Mindy Pelz, Autumn, and other YT channels for 2 years, used Cronometer for awhile, great learning tool, i know the parameters of what I can eat, I do OMAD, 90% animal based six days a week, currently and very roughly protein is 150g/day, fat 100g, carbs 50g, feel better than 2 years ago but still experimenting. Be angry at the government they write the food and nutrition guidelines, food manufacturers are a business like any other and are clever and sneaky. Sounds like you’re on the write track.
