Autumn, Thank you so much for all the information. I have learnt so much from you. My nutritionist has never taught me the things you have. I think he needs to loose his license. Please keep teaching me and this time I just might make it. Start date is August 1st and with your help: I'm going to crush it. I've dropped 135 lbs and kept it off for 6 years and now I'm going for the second 100. I can do this😊

the full fat diary one could not be more true. I did an experiment for two weeks - replaced my full fat greek yogurt and cottage cheese with the low fat versions. I loved the taste of the full fat and how it gave me steady release energy, but it was so satiating and stuffed me so much that it interfered with digestion for my gym workouts. So I switched to low fat. It digested a lot quicker and I was able to workout without digestion discomfort, but my body did not accept this food very well and it didn't always make me feel good. Also it tasted much worse than the full fat version. Safe to say I will only get full fat diary from now on and try not to consume it before my workouts but rather later in the day.

Yeah, I also cannot lift weights effectively after eating foods high in fat. In fact, when I eat carb heavy food, I actually feel better than when I eat foods high in fat. I tried low carb high fat diets in the past, and they just don’t work for me. I’m happiest when I have a balance of fat and carbs, slightly more carbs. I don’t go to the extreme that gym bros claim you need to do, like 400 grams of carbs and 10 grams of fat per day. About 150-200 carbs and 80-100 fats per day works best for me. This is the best balance I can give myself to eat a huge variety of foods and also feel energetic throughout the day.
@The_Fitness_Vault
@The_Fitness_Vault Месяц назад
@@boblangford5514 yeah I agree, I also like and follow a similar fat and carb ratio. I find that it’s best to use the majority of my carbs pre and post workout, and my meal before bed is usually high fat and low carb.

I get to feel full now without that overstuffed and bloated feeling. Yes, calories in/calories out determines weight loss but it's not what works if you're looking for sustainable health. Thank you so much for this informative video. I find that if I really focus on getting lots of protein in my diet then I’m not hungry in between meals. If I don’t get enough protein I find I’m immediately turning to snacking and bad stuff. It’s a lifestyle not a diet. I’ve kept off 40 lbs for 1 1/2 years now. She's already made great progress restoring weight, but is sick of the generalized diet advice of eating lots of carbs and sugar, including supplements like ensure. Great video, Autumn! I love this angle -- some of these might actually have worked in the past, but we live in crazy 2024 and we have to be clever lol. I actually gained weight when I took up running, and recently stopped because we're having successive heatwaves here in Greece, and my bodyweight dropped by 10 lbs (I have been eating in a deficit, both to lose the weight on purpose, and because I'm no longer burning the running calories) and I honestly feel a lot better. I do love running, but I'm just not sure if I want to carry that extra weight, which is almost certainly mostly water/inflammation, because my primary sport requires a lower bodyweight for optimal performance. Not having to constantly fight against my bodyweight just to enjoy my sport is a huge relief. I am undecided how to proceed, time will tell. I have found the "multiple small meals" don't really work to keep me satisfied. I love the one about "eating in moderation" -- yeah... if the foods on offer were moderate, that would work lol!! Great video.

A lot of runners have extra weight, both male and female. I was on a college track team, and many of the runners has a few extra pounds around their middle, despite being college-age and working out all the time, and trying to eat healthy. 😅

@@jupeter24 I was shocked by how ravenous running made me. In retrospect I don't think I gained any fat, since I lost 10 lbs in like 13 days. That can't have been fat. In regards to exercise, I feel often times the benefit for weight loss is overestimated in regards to calories burned, so some will overeat or reward themselves with a treat. Exercise is wonderful for so many things, but for weight management it is not everything!
@jupeter24
@jupeter24 2 месяца назад
So true! I was watching a video on RU-vid by an internal medicine physician who writes books on nutrition/the dangers of ultra-processed food, he confirmed exactly what you said. Exercise takes energy away from your stress level (and this kind of thing)
@mockingbirdnightingale7169
@mockingbirdnightingale7169 2 месяца назад
I agree! I lost a large amount of weight, and my take on this is that exercise can be counterproductive for weight loss, but is crucial for maintaining a large amount of lost weight. Keeping weight off without exercise is daunting because you really can't eat much in that scenario. Because I work out a lot, I can eat a normal amount of food. Because I lost a huge amount of weight, my body has worked out how to get by on a small amount of calories, so I need to up my RPM so to speak, and that is working great for me. I'm maintaining at 135 lbs for 3 years, down from 260+ lbs.

There’s nothing wrong with sesame oil.
@christina6308-z
@christina6308-z Месяц назад
Sesame oil, while belonging to the seed oil family, is a touted superfood. It possesses numerous health benefits. It gets a bad rep from 3 compounds: oxalic acid, phytic acid, and tannins. Oxalic acid can interfere with nutrient absorption but is early offset with sufficient calcium in your feet. Phytic acid concentration is very low in sesame oil and decreases during processing, as do tannins, which are also found in many varieties of nuts, berries, coffee, tea, and chocolate.

"Everything in moderation" just shows someone's ignorance. Our bodies have HIGHLY specialized organs like the pancreas, liver, gal bladder, stomach colon and that perform or don't perform through hormones and enzymes based on the macro nutrient composition of our meals.
@celticlass8573
@celticlass8573 Месяц назад
Thank you for bringing up the "eat everything in moderation" thing. I've always *loathed* that. I have had a sugar addiction since I was a small child, and I can't tell you how many people have said it's OK to eat it in moderation, "you only live once", even my friends. That is 100% not my reality, it's a reflection of theirs. Well, one day an unfortunate friend (who is someone who CAN have just one) said it to me and I finally lost it on them. I said to them would you say to an alcoholic it's OK, you only live once, or to a drug addict that a little bit is OK? THERE IS NO MODERATION! You're making things way harder for me than it needs to be! They never said it again. The only thing that works for me, is to eat healthily in my normal everyday life, and then once in a while, if I feel like it, having one serving of something, enjoying it, and then moving on. I can't make cupcakes and have only one. But I can buy a single cupcake and leave the rest at the store. I also can't have any kind of snacky foods around my home, I assume because they're highly-processed simple carbs and/or are high in refined fat. A big bag of chips has no chance of a long life in my house! Some will say, "Just say no what's the big deal?" but for those of us who it's a problem for, it's not just a matter of saying no and moving on. It's saying no 30x, 40x, 50x a day. How can we be expected to say no that often?! Not having it in my home, makes it SO much easier. The really awesome thing though, is that the less I eat of that stuff, the less I crave it. I think if I had to fight a battle dozens of times everyday, forever, I'd be very tempted to just give up, because I don't want that kind of life. But the temptation over time goes down to either very low or nil, and that I can handle! 🙂 Once I got to that point, people offering it to me or seeing it on display was no longer a battle, which was a huge relief.

Why are you stuck on the word "reasonable" with the first point when the actual wording is "in moderation"? Foods also aren't "addictive" according to actual science. Plus restricting these foods is the number one predictor of a binge according to something you like to avoid - the actual, non-cherry-picked data. Also why are you demonizing processed foods when it comes to whole grains (which ARE good for weight loss and health, contrary to your misinformation) but in the previous breath you're touting the benefits of full-fat dairy, which is - guess what! - also processed? This is terrible advice.
@n3VerG0nn4G1v3YouuP
@n3VerG0nn4G1v3YouuP Месяц назад
1) Her whole point was that some foods are going to be harder to moderate than others. What you think is reasonable for your favorite chips is going to be different from chips you think are ok. 2) Yes. Food can be addictive. Some foods are even designed to be addictive. A lot of cases of BED can be attributed to food addiction. 3) She is not talking about whole grains in its entirety, she's talking about the classifications. She said that some products are marketed as whole grain when really they don't have the full benefits of whole grain foods. 4) Pasteurizing milk is different from milling and processing grain. Chances are less steps were taken to process the milk than it was to process whole grain bread. Even then, she likes whole grain foods, she just doesn't like the classifications of whole grains because again, some of the foods marketed like that don't have the full benefits. I don't wanna come off as rude, I just wanna give you extra info cause a couple of your arguments seemed like you just skimmed over the video or just looked at the bookmarks.

@@n3VerG0nn4G1v3YouuP For point 1, even though moderation may look different from person to person, the difference isn't that big. Let's be honest here, no one thinks a moderate consumption of pizza is one pizza a day. Maybe as a joke but not seriously. And the fact that SOME people are addicted to sugar for example isn't an argument against "everything in moderation". That's like saying no one should consume carbs and sugars because some people are diabetic. I think we need to remember that we also have brains and can use them - of course if I am addicted to chocolate and can't eat it in moderation, I should avoid it altogether. But these tips she's referring to are made for the general population. Also, you know what else is very unhealthy? Orthorexia. Or food phobias. Or restricting your favorite foods because people fear monger you into thinking they're the devil. Some of her advice is good...but I highly disagree with this one.

@@GratsielaLily I see where youre getting at. This behavior could snowball into binging and having an unhealthy outlook on that food. So, honestly yeah, it does definitely depend on the person. Having this in a video for general info could be harmful for some.

I will give you a tip. Eat less calories than you burn. Works every time and it is true just like one and one will always make two.

The tricky thing is how to actually do that, and bear with the hunger.

@@Sara-mr1hs You can avoid typical side dishes and instead of it just eat vegetable. For example instead of 100g of raw rice, you can eat 500g to 1kg of some vegetable.

That is not good advice. It’s not sustainable over the long haul. It doesn’t account for what and when food is eaten. There’s lots of good info on that from Autumn and many other knowledgeable people on RU-vid.
