6 Hour Layover In Tokyo

Here are a few places you can visit and things you can do during your layover in Tokyo.
www.jrbuskanto.co.jp.e.wn.hp.t...
Once you get out of Narita Airport in Chiba prefecture people usually take a 1.5 hour ride and head straight to the heart of Tokyo but then having to rush back to the airport without having much time spent exploring...
But why not take it slow and easy and just hop on the tour like I did and let it take you around to see the sites you would usually not get to see as a tourist!
People often skip Narita but there's plenty to explore here too - and those are the places I personally like more :)

Dear Angela, I have watched many of your videos and I realized finally why u are such a hit?? It is because of ur perpetually happy nature u portray in the videos. It's truly "kawaiii". it is the same sweet Angela in every video no matter if you are not feeling good yourself. That is not an easy task. People dig it nowadays when there's so much of rampant chaos and sadness. Great job. A massive ARIGATOGOZAIMSU.😀

Great to see that there are tours like that, showing the areas around Narita and not restrict it to round trips to Tokyo. A lot more airports need this kind of “service”. Great video as always!

This is awesome video. Been through narita many times and had many long layovers. Never knew this existed. The few times I did go out was cause I had overnight stays but I always went straight to Tokyo or ushiku to my friend place. Now i have something to do next time I'm just waiting for a plane and not just staying overnight. Always good to see these videos. Gets better everytime

I recall my visit to the Edo Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum in Hayao Miyazaki's home town of Mitaka in 2008 being something of a surreal experience. It was Autumn, and the sounds of the cicadas in the air as you walked past and through buildings you knew were centuries-old was both fascinating yet equally haunting - You could say I was somewhat... Spirited away... ;-) Knowing that more of these open air architectural museums exist has got me intrigued. I think this video just created something of a mission for me and I'll be planning to visit a few more of these on my next trip to Japan.

Naritasan Sensjji temple is definitely worth visiting. Take the free shuttle bus from the airport to the downtown and walk about 20 minutes from there. A lot to see on the way. The temple is huge and has it's history. A lot of foods to buy and enjoy on the way.

Wow, that was very interesting. I had about 4 or 5 hours until my plane departure at in Narita years ago. Had to take a bus from Yokosuka really early in the morning. I did not know that they did tours from the airport that is really neat. Maybe next time. FYI I would rate your onigiri as a 7.5/10. I cannot taste it so I can't give it a 10.

Thanks for the great vlog and it’s super timely. My wife and I will be back in Japan in two and a half weeks, and we have an 8 hour layover in Narita before our flight to Osaka. Is there an English version of that tour? What if we want to explore on our own? What is the best option to go into Narita? Is it the train you take to Tokyo? Or, are there better options?

Last month I made a trip with my mom where we rent a car and drive around. It's a fun trip where you can sidetrack around Japanese suburbs and any interesting places. The down side is the car has to be return at 8 am. So the day before last we decided to travel around chiba instead because we don't want to wake at 4 and drive from Tokyo. Surprisingly there are a lot of things to do than we thought like that one retro Cafe, dragon farm, biggest daiso (this one we took a train) a small parking lot in the middle of the sea (forgot the name) and a temple with walking street. Can you take this idea and make a video, kind of like this one video but for other airports? Like Kansai one or idk maybe Chitose or Komatsu. I think it would be very interesting. It take time I know, just that one took me a whole week to plan since I don't know a thing about Chiba before.

Hi Angela, is the tour foreigner friendly? I don't speak Japanese at all so is it possible to miss out on the details?
@StraightUpEats
@StraightUpEats 6 лет назад
Hey Seidreine! I looked at the linked information that Angela provided in the description, and although the page itself is in English, they do not list anywhere whether the tour is available in English or not. From watching the video though, I'm going to guess that, no, it's probably not in English (although there's the very rare chance that the guide may speak some English). However, I did some searching and I found this, which may help you if you find yourself stuck in Narita airport for a half-day. 1) Do a google search for: Narita stay program 2) Click the first link that says, "Narita Airport Transit & Stay Program -- Free tour in English for..." This is a website that is run by the Narita tourism board specifically designed for people in your situation! They offer several kinds of tours, both guided and self-guided. The guided tours are conducted by volunteers who give the tour in English, so you won't miss out on a thing! I hope this was helpful to you! Let me know if you have any other questions, as I'm always happy to help out!

Hi, are there also english guided tours available? I only speak some very few words japanese and would feel uncomfortable due to language problems...
@StraightUpEats
@StraightUpEats 6 лет назад
ACM#1985, that really depends on where you're going! Bigger tourist destinations will have English tours provided for free or for a price. However, if you're leaving the airport for a few hours and are on a strict schedule, I think it might be a little difficult to fit in an English guided tour, as these tour guides and companies work on specific time schedules. So you'd have to make sure that both of your schedules match up. If you're wanting to do the same bus tour in the video, then the answer is most-likely "no" unfortunately. Despite having some of the best customer service in the world, there are still plenty of activities that require Japanese. IF the tour becomes popular among tourists, then I can see this company adding in English-language options, however, this seems to be focused more on providing a service to those who speak and understand English fully. However, if you're in Tokyo for a long layover, I highly recommend that you explore the area around Narita Station! Narita station is just 10 minutes away from the airport and has a lot of interesting things to see and do! There's a beautiful temple, called Naritasan, great restaurants, and historic areas are all easily accessible from the station. You can also easily pick up a walking tour map from Narita station that shows you the sights of interest, along with out to get there and get around. If that still seems a little worrying for you, you can always take a taxi! Straight from the airport, you can ask the driver to take you to "Naritasan Temple" or even "Narita Station", and they'll do it with no hesitation! The cost will, of course, be more expensive than taking the train, but you get the peace-of-mind of getting directly to your destination in the fastest, and easiest way possible! If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask away! I'm always happy to help! Have a great day!
@StraightUpEats
@StraightUpEats 6 лет назад
Actually ACM#1985, I just found this that would be super helpful for you! Narita Airport actually has tours available for those on long layovers that may be of some use to you if you find yourself in this situation! 1) Do a Google search for: Narita stay program 2) Click the first link that says, "Narita Airport & Stay Program -- Free Tours in English for..." This website lists all kinds of guided (and self-guided) tours that you can take! The guided tours seem to be done by volunteers and they do conduct English tours! There's also many kinds of tours that you can do! I hope you find this useful in the future!

What happen if we don't speak Japanese, is it still ok to do this during layover?
@StraightUpEats
@StraightUpEats 6 лет назад
Hey William! That's a really good question! If you don't speak much Japanese, most of the staff will be able to communicate with you for the most part! If you show them your flight schedule and let them know that you would like to leave the aiport for a few hours and return, you're most-likely going to be given the OK to leave! I'm sure, as is Japanese custom, that before they let you loose, they'll tell you that you need to be back in ~hours, and that if you miss your flight, they can't be held liable. After that, you're free to leave the airport, but getting around may be the next challenge for you! I recommend that if you expect to have a long layover in Tokyo, make sure to prepare by looking up the recommended routes to take AND, make sure to rewatch this video!

Is she still using the G7 ? Not sure. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a7gOfHqcvzo.html Maybe she films some stuff with a GoPro, but I don't think it is her main camera.

That’s nice and all, but considering most people flying into-out of Narita will probably be foreigners.... in which case, it would be near impossible for someone who doesn’t know Japanese(hint: most people that have a layover at Narita) to enjoy these activities you did in this video, unless there were English speaking guides that weren’t shown here?
