Wow .. Thank you so much for posting this. Just got a used tiller with this engine that didn't even have a filter in it. No telling what I'm going to find. I've never worked on engines and you just gave me the education of a lifetime. I had such a fear to pull that off and now all I have to do is come back to this video. Thank you

Thanks, exceptional video. You explained EXACTLY what I needed to know!!! I VERY MUCH APPRECIATED you taking the time to explain the direction of the isolator block - openings directed towards the engine block. I may have completely overlooked that step not noticing there were openings on one side. A highly important piece of information. Also, cleaning the tank thoroughly before placing the fuel line back on the repaired carburetor was particularly instructive. Particles - or moisture - in the bottom of the tanking going back through a clean carburetor CAN BE AVOIDED. GREAT TIP!!! And finally, checking the float by blowing through the fuel intake port was another tip that I NEVER would have considered. The time that you took to video and upload this saved me $$$'s for small engine repair. Actually, you saved my neighbor the $$$'s, it was only my time, and I learned something new today. Yes, it's my neighbors garden tiller. She was recently widowed so I did not want someone taking advantage of her at a small engine repair shop - don't take that personally that was not my intention. I will probably have many more fixes for her in the future, but that is perfectly okay with me. She is a sweet lady struggling through a very difficult time. So, I am glad to help her and grateful for RU-vid videos such as this to walk me through the steps necessary to help her save $$$'s. I hope that RU-vid is providing you with the $$$'s you save your viewers. Thanks again. Keep making HIGHLY INSTRUCTIVE VIDEOS!!!

I have this same engine on a pressure washer and I've tried everything and it won't stop surging. Ultrasonic cleaner, wire through every hole, torch tip cleaners, chem dip, blown air through everything, won't stop surging.

Thanks brother! Didn’t think about diesel, but had soaked in gas which didn’t do too much. I did buy the acid you recommended and have the picks. Will give it another try. Yes, I could buy another carburetor, but would like to try work on it first and see what happens. Thanks again!

just be careful don't dig to hard on the side the needle valve goes in.

@@smallengineguys I cleaned out the carburetor with acid drops, carb cleaner, blew out chambers with air compressor everything looked good. Put carburetor back on and used starting fluid and it started for a few seconds and died. Did this a couple of times and removed the carburetor to take another look. When I disassembled the float housing, it was dry. Would the rubber plug with a small hole in the needle valve hole be gummed up preventing fuel to flow? Suggestions? Thanks! PS. I did order a new carburetor, but really wanted to fix this myself.
@smallengineguys

@@Luv2flyMD is fuel flowing out of the fuel line? there is a screen filter in the tank you have to remove the tank then unscrew the nipple. if it is then check the fuel inlet it should flow freely without theneedle valve in. is the rubber tip of the needle valve swollen? sorry hard for me to tell without it in my hands.
@Luv2flyMD
@Luv2flyMD 3 года назад
@@smallengineguys Thanks for the help! Yes, the fuel is flowing fine to the carburetor and I put a new 1/4 fuel hose on. The rubber tip of the needle valve is swollen. Is he rubber tip needed? I suppose it is there for a reason. Many thanks brother!

Hi! Great video on rebuilding the carb. I was working on the same engine today from a Bolens Front Tine tiller, which hasn't ran for well over 10 years. After taking off the carb, the fuel line and the fuel intake valve was covered in a tar like substance. I used carb cleaner on it, but still couldn't get the tar out of the white fuel intake valve. Any suggestions?
@smallengineguys
@smallengineguys 3 года назад
soak in diesel. i also use a small drill bit to pick as much out by hand as possible. the diesel will soften it then use compressed air to blow it out then carb cleaner to clean. or an easier solution amzn.to/2PSxUuB

I have a question about the white plug on the engine that’s above the yellow oil plug what is it for?
@smallengineguys
@smallengineguys 3 года назад
so there are a few different applications for this same motor. i think the white wire goes to the kill switch then from the kill switch to a black wire that goes to the coil. kill switch could be built into the throttle so all the way past idle kills the motor. or it could be to an on off switch. white should go to ground from kill switch. some also have a tip over sensor although those are a bit rare. i could be backwards on this white might go to coil. black to ground. if white is connected to yellow then its to coil. if not its to ground. sorry im not more helpful. i dont have one in front of me right now.
@treven2402
@treven2402 3 года назад
@@smallengineguys this was also one of my questions but I’m talking about the white dip stick thing instead of the two yellow dip sticks
@smallengineguys
@smallengineguys 3 года назад
@@treven2402 yeah also anouther option. these were also used in generators and had an oil sensor there also some had anouther way to check oil there.

I was looking at buying one of these engines for a go-kart do you know if it is capable of hooking up a throttle cable to it somewhere on the lever?
@smallengineguys
@smallengineguys 3 года назад
yes. they also have this same motor in 9hp with the 3/4 shaft. the 9 is just bored out from factory. there are alot of racing upgrades for these as well. another trick for more speed is to replace the spring that goes from the throttle arm to the governor arm with a solid rod. that bypasses the governor and gives you full rpm.
