@BrandonRob14 Thank you very much, I have donated to the HHH for a couple years now, when I lost my job for a few months last year it was pretty scary, it really made me want to donate more, I hope this economy turns soon, I feel bad for families that can't find work and struggle to put food on the table.
Nice video, great to hear the natural grunting, very instructive. I also like that there is no music. Too many videos are good but ruined by the music. Thanks and keep them coming!
@OutdoorsmanByDesign Thanks Matt, glad you enjoyed it. I am glad the grunting could be heard, RT 287 is behind me about a 1/4 mile away and is very loud, along with the jets over head... only in NJ!
really enjoyed this thanks!!!! not sure where this was fimed, but he looks small for 21/2. I live in Alabama and most 1 1/2 yr old bucks on our property are at least 6 points. Often 8. yearlings would be spiked or forked. Doesn't matter. I just like learning. We cant shoot anything under 4 1/2 but an occasional mistake is made. We have had several 17" wide 10 points at 2 1/2 yrs. The baiting debate goes on here. We will see.
I think the butthurt over the corn is a bit ridiculous. Where I hunt everyone uses corn. Come deer season it's stacked up at every sporting good store. It's not like having corn on the ground is some sort of magic magnet that draws deer to you in herds. Last Saturday I watched a little buck walk right over my corn and into the woods without slowing down. I always try to set up where I have a good view of a nice big oak tree because they're in the habit of coming there to eat the acorns, where there are game trails and buck rubs and deer droppings. You still have to scout the area and find the places where they are used to going. The corn really just makes them stop so that I can have an opportunity to make a nice humane kill. If you just walk out into the woods and toss some corn on the ground, you're not going to see anything. If you're under the impression that any idiot can walk out into the woods with a bit of corn and the deer will just come running in to get shot, you're under the wrong impression.
Yep Baiting in New Jersey is legal and I live in Jersey and have guide in Northern Saskatchewan for 20 years and hunted all North America and am a taxidermist, bait or no bait Jersery deer are by far extreamly smarter than any other whitetail I've hunted... Great footage...
I love all these comments about hunting over bait, meanwhile, the naysayers spend the whole year setting up Clover plots, what's the difference really? In NJ we're limited in space, and have a huge deer population.
Hunting over bait is great for the herd and allows for more ethical shots. Plus you can be more selective on what you harvest. People act like our ancestors didn't bait. They did that more than anything 😂
@@TheChrisricciardi when you drop a pile of corn it attracts many deer to a small area. compared to natural food that is spread out to a larger area. deer are not meant to feed together shoulder to shoulder.
I use to own a deer farm for breeding and good genetics usually don't kick in until the 1 1/2 year mark. Our stock always showed there full potential by this point. We had 12 and 14 pointers that were only 1.5 yrs old. The only difference is what you feed them which increases the mass of a deer rack not is structure. So a well feed 1.5 yr old 12 point will still be a 12 at 2.5 yrs but with proper nutrient it will have much better mass. Spikes at 1.5 will always be spikes or 3 points.
@TheFieldArcher i just got a crossbow (180 draw) but at around 30 yards the bolt drops about 6in. i use 00 grain heads and i guessed you could help. thanks
I actually live in new jersey and I hunt near a bean field and last season I bagged a giant 8 pointer that i called rib cage, his rack curved in like ribs. I had trail pics of him when he was 3 then i saw him on the last day of bow seaseon and he was a average 6, but man over the summer HE GOT MASS! DUDE HUNT ASSAPINK!
Ha,ha,ha..man new jersey deer are little compared to North carolina deer..I was born in toms river nj and moved to eastern north carolina In 1980 and the deer are giants here..we have black bear coyotes, wolf's, squirrels, raccoons, possums, alligators, snakes of all kinds..etc..you name it we have a majority of all wildlife..come to the east coast of north carolina if you want some of the greatest hunting experience of your life...are hunting season is from October 15th- January 2nd...
That's a nice young 6pt. My guess he is 2.5yrs old 10-12inch spread in the 60ish class range. He is a nice deer and healthy and heavy. With a few more year under his belt he will be a trophy. Enjoyed the video :)
people that have a problem with hunting and say it's murder are just plain ignorant. how do you think our ancestors survived. if the meat is used it more human than cattle farms
But we don’t need to live like our ancestors anymore lol. There are meat substitutes that provide the same nutritional value. And also I hardly think riding around on an ATV with an AR 15 is hunting like our ancestors did
If you did some research you would see that the human diet today is harmful to the body and cell production, hence the increased rates of fatal diseases and conditions like cancer, heart disease and diabetes. The human body today functions best on a vegan or plant based diet. We cannot process meat the way ACTUAL carnivores can. We also shouldn’t be consuming certain things like dairy at all.
@@alexapro3003 but what about bowhunting? And in my area there are less hunters so the population is out of control and the farmers lose crops that you vegans eat and deer suffer by getting hit or sick. And bowhunting is cheaper than buying food. I grow my veggies but i dont have enough land or time to grow all i need so i eat hunted meat. All i ask is that vegans leave people alone. Everyone has their own needs and opinions. I dont enjoy killing but i enjoy feeding my family and friends to help them. And so many crops are gmo i aint buying cucumbers no more. Until the vegan diet gets cheaper or natural predators return like wolves ill hunt and fish.
Does baiting bring the dear to you or does it just make them stay when they discover the food? I would think spray scent would work better in attracting them then real food.
Baiting the deer brings them in and when doe are eating the bait... really, the doe are the bait and hopefully a nice buck will come by when they are in estrus!
This buck is still young maybe 2 or 3... He'll be scarce in a few years, and HUGE! That's the thing with bucks, you got to get them when they're in the prime of their life.
i would have taken him...in my experences, i have noticed that the small bucks taste SOO much better than the big ones. i dont understand some people with antler obsessions...
In eastern U.S. a 6 point, in Canada a 2 point, in Washington State if the eye guards are over an inch long a 3 point and most Christians think GOD is either three in one or one in three. It's all a matter of perspective and the length of your measuring rod and whether your measuring rod is hanging between your ears or your knees.
Unfortunately the hunter at the neighboring property didn't want to see what he would have looked like at 4 1/2 or 5 1/2, he killed him shortly after this footage. I spent numerous outings watching this deer, I enjoyed watching him and you can see him look up at me at 1:11, I think he knew I was no threat to him. I was waiting for his dad. I hunted his dad all fall, I finally go him on December 18th, almost 2 months after this footage was recorded.
I hope I can get a snort wheeze on video, almost did this rut but the buck did it close when he went behind trees and I stopped the camera, it sounds nothing like the calls, I guess that is why when guys snort wheeze in the hunting shows, they always seem to run away.
The buck is like, "Ahhh, what's the use! Screw it, I'll go eat their food."...lol If he wants to get lucky, he needs to drop some roofies in their corn pile :)
@madmike3181 Exactly! If you can't hunt them in their normal environment, then that is cheating! Come to Pa and do it like we do go in early morning or late afternoon with no bait. Lets just say everyone that baits doesn't properly deserve the right to even say that they are hunting, anyone can do that, that is easy! Every person that gets caught baiting here in Pa will lose their license for the rest of their life and pay a large fine and may do jail time of 5 years!
Y’all don’t have acorn trees or grass there dumbass? Y’alls deer don’t eat anything he’s in the woods that is their natural environment no difference in hunting over corn and a white oak that is dropping acorns or a Green field it amazes me how damn stupid people like you are
