Proton apparently been sold to a Chinese car company, Geely, of which also bought Volvo. Having Volvo tech, Proton and Lotus suspension and handling, and the massive market share of Geely, might as well turn into a giant car company.

Proton was considered as tank car in Malaysia . And perodua was mostly a cheaper Toyota /daihatsu only

I heard about all of them. The ones I know best are Great Wall, Proton and Ssangyong. Great wall sells pickups here in Italy, and Ssangyong it's extremely popular here in Southern Italy expecially

Renault Samsung is unknown popular brend . It produces cars for Domestic South Korea Market .

We have Great Wall in Australia I also know Daimler I saw a lot of Protons when I lived in Asia I also know Perodua I knew Mitsuoka from living in Singapore We also have Ssangyong in Australia I know all of these brands strangely

I know Proton! My father has a Proton Gen 2! I love this amazing, bubbly and fancy vehicle. And I got £500 from it. :p I am not a gold digger. I swear.

I knew only Proton and Ssangyyong I know Proton, cuz there is a game called WRC 4 for PS2 and there was Proton Pert which was a rebadged Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 8. And i know Ssangyyong, cuz one of my neighbour used to have one ( it was a Rexton).

i've got a Ssangyong rexton from 2006 and im from spain. i love that car, very well put togheter, mercedes quality at a bit lower price. And the design is on point tbh. It was desinged by an italian that also designed maseratis, and alfas.

I think most people know of Daimler thanks to the likes of the 240 and Sovereign. Edit: or at least people who know of Jaguar do.

I know you heard of Lada, but before the fall of the USSR, they were more commonly known as АвтоВАЗ. That was until they switched to Лада to get to more Western Markets. And it worked cuz GM collaborated with them to make the Chevrolet Niva, and the Kalina. Both didn’t sell well and weren’t as popular as other older models but they knew that they had the capability to expand their market.

"Great Wall Motors" cars are crafted/builded in Bulgaria but the parts of course come from China. And actually this brand is popular and people use them here in Bulgaria since they are crafted here.

I’ve noticed that Great Wall are doing the same market entry to the UK as Subaru did in the past selling a lot through farming equipment dealerships.

Here in Australia (which you neglected to mention) we get most of these cars, in fact my father owns a Haval and my son owns a proton. Both are good cars.

The are quite a few Ssangyong Suv on french roads... One day I helped a old lady with her Tivoli, she had locked the steering wheel anti-theft system lmao !

I've seen some Ssangyongs on vacation in the Dominican Republic. As an American, visiting that country was my first exposure to cars that arent sold back home such as Peugeot and Renault.

Daimler's last car was the Daimler Super Eight. Just a high-priced Jaguar XJ350 made from 2002 to 2007. Very beautiful car.

Wind the clock back a decade, and FIVE of my neighbours bought a SsangYong Rodius. It may have looked weird, but said five neighbours didn't care. What mattered to them, was being able to transport several children AND several large dogs in something resembling decent comfort, without having to remortgage the house. It acquired a reputation not so much for being "Dad's taxi", but "Dad's minibus", because you could cram a ridiculous amount of people and luggage in one (and pets, if required - see those aforementioned big dogs). There weren't many other options available for someone with three kids and three Newfies to transport ... :D

Proton car has opened one of it's assembly plant in Bangladesh in 2016! But I only see Toyota here everywhere. Very few people here even heard the name Proton.

Being a Malaysian I am very familiar with the Proton and Perodua brand. I think some of you guy might be curious about the meaning of the brand. "PROTON" just an acronym of "Perushaan Otomobil Nasional" which means National Automobile Company in Malay. While the "PERODUA" is "Perushaan Otomobil Kedua Sendirian Berhad" means Second Automobile Company Private Limited. Currently the PROTON was partly sold to Zhejiang Geely Holding of China, so in the future day Proton cars will be all Geely-based. Since the establishment of PERODUA, their were all Daihatsu or Toyota (Daihatsu was a subsidiary of Toyota) based due to the collaboration between this two company, but in recent years Perodua started design their own cae to suit the Malaysia people. But technically still Toyota-Daihatsu based

SsangYong is pretty popular here in Costa Rica, you can see a Tivoly almost everywhere. Mostly due to their price in new coming close to a used 2007 SUV.
