I'm European and now I live in big city USA. Miami in particular. Living in the USA is a dream come true. There is always bad comments in other countries about the US. But there is truly no place like the US. The diversity, the variety, the convenience, the ability to make it big. Like anywhere in the world there are issues, but Living here gives you the ability to basically experience the whole world in one place. The culture, the museums, the food, the nature, the variety in climate. Gosh I love it so much over here!!! I'm very happy to see that you enjoyed your visit. Small town usa will be super cool too. If you thought new york was nice wait until you see Small town america. You will think people is part of your family. God bless you and your family. BTW, you were two blocks of my house when you were hitting those palm trees with you head on Lincoln rd on your Miami Beach bus tour.

One trick I learned for riding the subway in places like NY is to not get on the cars at the front of the "train" or Metro. Everyone is in a rush to get on, get off, and rush for the stairs to leave and no one wants to be slowed down by others, so they all get on the cars at the front so they can be closer to the stairs to leave. Then everyone gets crowded together in the cars, and then jammed up trying to rush out when leaving and it causes a slowdown anyway. The cars at the end will have fewer people on them since they are further away from the exits and you get more room on the car, a slightly longer but more relaxing walk to the exits, and by the time you reach the stairs/exits the crowd has thinned out and moved on so you aren't "elbow to elbow" and pressed up against people trying to leave. But you sometimes don't want the very last car in the line because homeless people know those are the least used cars and sleep on them because they are almost unoccupied, so get the 2nd or 3rd from the end of the line of cars.

Melting pot was always talked about with fellow Americans. I think that we are more of a SALAD BOWL because everyone seems to keep their heritage culture going but it gets all mixed together. We have Chinatowns, Little Italy, Hispanic neighborhoods, Arab and African neighborhoods. And of course the southern cultures. Yes, our options are limitless. Now include our National Parks all across the country.

So many foreigners I've met are amazed that we even actually have public transportation because of the reputation we have of driving everywhere. And as far as sports, there is an amazing variety. Baseball, basketball, American football are just the tip of the iceberg. Soccer (or football) is really taking off in popularity here, finally. My oldest granddaughter graduates H.S. this year and has a mixed tennis/soccer/academic scholarship at her dream college. Her boyfriend has a lacrosse/academic scholarship at the same university. We have rugby, softball, swimming, gymnastics, track/field events. You can find pretty much any sport to compete in starting in school in most areas. For a nation that's supposed to be so overweight, we certainly do love our sports.

Thank you for reminding us how truly blessed we are to live in America. We get so used to it, and since many of us do not do much traveling we really don't have anything to compare it with, we simply think this is the norm. Worldwide we know that there are many different cultures but really don't know what to expect so when people come over here from other countries it is good to get their input. I'm glad you had a good time. I hope you have a great trip with your RV experience. If your itinerary is still open to adjustments I would definitely make sure you get in some national parks. Especially in the southwestern United States and in the Appalachian Mountains area. Of course, those are 2500 miles apart so I doubt you'll be able to get both sides of the country at once but either side you go to, definitely check out either of those areas. Southern Utah, Arizona, California, all have small town experience and have some of the best national parks to be found anywhere. For sheer beauty and scenic wonder I would also recommend the Oregon coast. Great place to travel and no large cities there at all.

Sam and Nadine; As an ex-bus driver (both for city bus companies and later on, even tour bus.) I used to try to myself in the position of my passenger(s) and get an "understanding" on how difficult it would be if I knew NOTHING about my surroundings. This...I tried even desperately to instill with my fellow compatriots/co-workers especially when one of the cities I drove for was Tempe, Az. Home to Arizona State University where EACH fall/spring there could be anywhere from 5,000-20,000 new faces going to college. Can you imagine trying to find out which way was fastest/cheapest/easiest to get to like Castles and Coasters? (An amusement park in north-central Phoenix.); or possibly which mall was better than the others?; How about which fine-foods dining places were best? Well...with me driving a bus, I would let you know!! (A play on words here now but when you stop and think about it, it quite LITERALLY means just this.) In other words...I used to get paid good money to transport people AND tell them where to go, and where to get off!!!😂

I'm from Philly too. Olde City has Independence Hall, The Constitution Center and The Museum of the American Revolution. All must sees. Also THE FOOD! Both fine dining and small street stands offer the best food in the country. Philly is close to PA Dutch country and the NJ shore. Both have a unique feel that's different than the neighboring areas of New York and Washington.

It’s interesting you added public transportation to this list. As an American, it can get pretty complicated in some city’s between trains and busses. There isn’t really any form of transportation that will take you from city to city across the country without having to switch between cars, busses, or trains. It’s almost necessary to have private vehicles in the USA when traveling.

So, keep sharing your pov and growing in your experience, bc I'm also learning things by watching you. Even if you have a not so good experience or don't like or understand something, its ok to voice it. I appreciated your conversations about tipping! 😅 you're a well rounded family w pretty open minds from what I can tell, and it's a joy to watch y'all have deep talks, try something new, or just shoot the breeeze. ❤

I love your vacation videos from USA. It makes me happy you had a great time and every one treated you great. I love our major cities here. I don’t choose to live in a huge city. One of my favorite places is New York City. I have personally been to all 4 cities you visited. I like them all. USA is so huge I am 42 years old and have traveled extensively here. There are still so many places I want to go. The national parks here are amazing too. I am in western North Carolina and I live close to The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and The Blue Ridge Parkway. The two must visited national parks in USA. They are amazing.

I've got buddies that can get you into two different clubs, and everyone is super welcoming and friendly! I have a feeling the scene is where I'll meet my future wife.

So very glad your experiences in the US were wonderful. US can be such a beautiful, exciting, and downright fantastic place. A lot of us here see the downsides, a major deterioration in services, safety, and a whole lot of things. If you were to stay in US longer, or live here for any length of time, you would see the glaring flaws, and quickly learn you need to be proactive in protecting yourself at all times. We need a major housecleaning. That said, for all the countries I lived, worked and traveled in, the US has something really special. That's why we love our country so much and want it to be even better than it is. Y'all come back now....

First of all, your podcast skills (or whatever one would call it) are becoming top notch. You're all so engaging and thoughtful, and just a pleasant listen. As for your list, of course all these points are spot on except #3, as all US big cities are not created equal when it comes to public transport. But absolutely, the NYC subway is a godsend (and surprisingly cheap last time I was there). LA definitely has some work to do to get to that level. Miami's is okay, but again nowhere near as strong as NYC or Chicago or Washington DC. And regarding #5, being a tourist on a shortish trip, you probably would not even have noticed how huge the sports atmosphere really is. The amateur league/beer league/rec league/regular pickup games keep so many people active and involved in team and individual sports. You can pass one big park and see baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, tennis, even cricket being played on a normal day in a big US city. Go to almost any normal family reunion or big holiday blowout, and some sort of game inevitably breaks out, if it's not actually a regular family tradition. Americans do not just love to watch sports, so many have to play also. There's never shortage of sports going on even when the pros are not playing.

If you want some of the best sports experience in a “big city”, I highly encourage you to come visit St. Louis, Missouri during Cardinals Baseball Season. We have some of the most dedicated fans of all of baseball to where on a week day game during work hours, the stadium will still be 15k-20k fans. Opening day is its own holiday here where some businesses will shut down so their employees can enjoy Cardinals baseball. Plus you add the mix of several cultures from being an old river port city and St. Louis is one of the most interesting city’s to visit.

Well, if y'all are here(NE Ohio), during the camper run? I can help you get to the world's largest working cuckoo clock, with life-sized figurine's, along with a place to go to park your camper for the night's(And, can be a different place, each time, including a place, where you guy's can play some mini golf, go swimming, with a food/drink stand, and other attraction's(My favorite's were the zipline, that went from a platform near the diving board's, directly into the water, the waterslide's(The old one's no longer exist, as they built new one's), and the infamous barrel roll), while you are in the NE part of the US in the summer...

Loved your thoughts! I live in a big city in the US and love it. I always get a lot of hate from people saying things like: “It’s so expensive, why would you want to live there!” “It’s dirty!” “Way too crowded” I of course know that it’s not for everyone. I can so appreciate someone wanting to live in a small town or a more quiet life. I might even want that one day. But for now, I truly love city life. Again. So nice to see yall spreading positivity and not focusing on the negatives! Cheers!
