My son use to vomit alot, almost after every meal. One of my friend told me to grater a alittle nutmeg in his meal. I did it and it works. He's not having that problem anymore.
My daughter used to vomit a lot after birth, because she was a preemie; whose digestive system wasn’t quite developed, and had to drink a special formula. Then, my aunt told me to boil some water, grater the nutmeg and add a tad bit of molasses, pure honey 🍯 or real cane sugar (which I always have my mom bring me from Jamaica 🇯🇲) and give it to her, and when I tell you my heartbeat 💓 stopped throwing up *INSTANTLY;* believe, you, me!!!!! 🙌🏾🙏🏾❤️🇯🇲
I grew up with nutmeg. My mother used it in oatmeal, french toast, eggnog, egg custard, rice pudding and of course pumpkin pie. She even had the nutmeg grater, which i have now. She never used cinnamon in any of the above, except the pumpkin pie, which also included clove and ginger. I rarely use cinnamon and absolutely love nutmeg.
@@barbaraadams8219 I've never used nutmeg in savory dishes, only in sweet. I've seen it in some recipes and always thought "nope" but maybe I should rethink my limited experience. Just can't wrap my head around the taste in anything other than sweet and eggy. 🤔
Grew up with my Ma Ma making me cups of warm milk with nutmeg whenever I'd have trouble sleeping... definitely helped me feel warm and relaxed 😊 Miss you Ma!😔 Now I make it for my boys!
Nutmeg grow in Jamaica too , we have a lot of Nutmeg trees grow in many parish in Jamaica, I use nutmeg a lot in many of my food when I am cooking , are when I make drinks , I am from Jamaica 🇯🇲 and I living in the USA and I have nutmeg in my kitchen at all times . Thank You for your information , happy New Year to You and your family when it comes keep safe.
Grenada dominates the spice trade they are always higligted. I grew up seeing mostly pimento in large quantities in Jamaica like huge piles you can swim in 😂. I didn't see the same for nutmeg so I am not sure how much Jamaica sells by comparison.
As a child my mother made me eggnog if I was ill. Milk, egg, vanilla, sugar and nutmeg. I still make it when not feeling well. Stivia liquid instead of sugar. Or at Christmas with rum.
Hats off to Grenada for it spices especially nutmeg. I visited the island just to look at a nutmeg tree. I bought some back home. Its a favourite spice in the Caribbean.
Thanksgiving and Christmastime brings out the nutmeg in most of us. It's an excellent spice for sweet potato pie as well. Thanks for another informative video.
Very interesting. I never knew any of this. I use only whole nutmeg and use a rasp to grate it. Way better than the pre ground powder. It's great in potato dishes and sweet potatoe dishes. And starchy desserts like rice pudding.
@@feltingme Not true. Ground is still good for many things. It cured my gramps warts!! And it killed all worms in my fat older brother. So it's proof ground is powerful
Have you test 6 tea spoon nutmeg powder + 360 mg dmx, the effect not far than use crystal meth then smoke ganja, without nausea, because dmx it self kicking myristicine to highest peak and kill nause effect that come from nutmeg it self.
Besides it's use in sweets & puddings a little ground nutmeg enhances the flavour of otherwise plain white or dutch cabbage especially with a little melted butter.
we Indian use Nutmeg in all sweets and Desserts. its named as (Jaifhal)it was also used as qravilizer for the mother after Delivery as it is also pain killer in ancient India. Thanks for the valuable information about Nutmeg.
@@pchabanowich I was just going to leave a comment when I saw yours , I've also started using nutmeg or cardamom in espresso with fresh goat cream and a small amount of honey , Oh My Gosh , such a cozy spicy aromatic way to start a winter day in a cold climate 🧡❤ And it also works in chaga !!

I don't like the taste of cinnamon or nutmeg and am trying to work around a nut allergy (all except cashews). Any suggestions for substitutes I can test?
A few years ago quit a job where environment was toxic (chemicals, emfs, radiation) and for about a month craved smoothies that included nutmug. I really Craved it. Used 1/8 to 1/4 tsp in smoothie. It was rhawgoat milk, egg yolks, bananna or raspberries, lemon jc, various seeds, etc. That was breakfast. After a month no more craving, felt like I had had enough. I moved on to other foods. I figured something needed fixing.
There are quite a few reports on Erowid and DMT-nexus about Nutmeg being psychoactive, especially when prepared properly with other synergistic herbs. (Space Paste) is a good one.
Just made some with cinnamon turmeric black peppercorns and cacao. I’ve been working with nutmeg for over a year now. One of my favorite plant teachers.
@@lazuliwinters743I use all of these with exception to nutmeg for extreme autoimmune flare ups. I use Mct oil for various reasons but the best one it makes it real easy to get all this past the taste buds. Three table spoons of Tumeric, 15 drops of Black pepper oil and enough MCT to wet it all and mix with a spoon is far more potent than any Med I have been on for Pain and inflammation. It is a miracle for me. I just added some nutmeg and cinnamon about 2 table spoons of each to this. It's crazy that we have become so reliant on "medicine" when we have had the original meds the whole time yet we haven't been using them.
My country GRENADA 🇬🇩🇬🇩 is the isle of spices The nutmeg grated is use in cakes and in our local drink rum punch also The hard shells are place around live flowers in vase or on the ground The yellow pod is use to make jams The maze has it function There is a spray for pain made from nutmeg, name nutmeg spray, made in Grenada So in Grenada Every part of the nutmeg has use Grenada is pronounce as Gre nay da No Granada
I have heard that by combining fresh ground nutmeg(amount unknown) mixed with orange juice and consumed immediately after can produce hallucinating effects 🤷♂️
Recently read a story of a teenager mixing a few tablespoons of nutmeg powder in a glass of water and got a serious heart attack aka cardiac arrest, so this is serious stuff, beware!

@@jstb6102 correct. Ginger is warming. Can cause shortness of breath. I learned thaf DHA in fish oil can cause heart problems. Well, just eat everythjng in moderation. Even turneric is not good for Pitta either.
@@jstb6102 ginger is a warming root, can cause ringing in ears, heart palpitation , heart beat fast and shortness of breath. I think the world nowadays tend to be pitta because of stress of life. So we need to eat cooling food instead like cucumber, salad, cilantro etc... all vegetables that grow above the soil, not root vegetables that tend to be starchy and warming. Carbs like flour, sugar, starchy foods create cholesterol and triglyceride more than meat does.

Nutmeg is grown in Grenada not GrenAda - silent first “a”. The people do not call their country GRANADA. Granada is a city in the Spain’s Southern Andalusia region.
OMG Nutmeg, cloves, cardamom and atleast 150 other spices including pepper is native to India ....it's reference is found in books and stories more than 25000 years ago and even today is used in regular day-to-day dishes in India and Srilanka as well

So bottom line …. How much is safe to consume in a day …..someone please answer… I can’t see how you can use just a pinch or small amount if it’s used in different things like tea etc… need some insight please and thank you 👏🏻👏🏻😁‼️
It is psychoactive but one will need to consume a whole nutmeg to feel it… it’s like a soporific… AND you will probably experience painful gastric distress while it makes it’s way through your intestinal tract… you’ll feel every twist and turn of your lower intestine and be thinking to yourself the whole time ‘OMG - this is def NOT worth it!’
We have a nutmeg tree in our backyard in Jamaica, have being using nutmeg from a child and never experienced any of that psychoactive symptoms. Maybe when you grow up eating nutmeg everyday you need 30 or more to be affected by it.
I love nutmeg, in mashed potatoes, vegetables soup, anything with cabbage l even have that kind of grater plus little spoons . Never buy the powder, only the nut itself.
😂 Threw it out, almost a full bottle after finding the warning label on my spice. Was freaking out about accidentally mistaking it for other spice's and using too much. Don't care for those side affects 🤢😱
Yes indeed. Be careful of consuming large amounts. It can be highly toxic, causing ectopic heat beats, hallucinations, hypotension lightheadedness, and delirium. First hand experience. It's also quite addictive in flavour and incredibly delicious in sweetened oatmeal, many desserts, biscuits and Indian dishes. Best to use very sparingly.
Good presentation, however the pronouciation of Grenada is incorrect. Your pronouciation is for Granada in spain. Happy to see Grenada here but I must add that the nutmeg farmers are treated poorly financially by the authorities.
