THANK YOU . IS FRESH NUMEG BETTER THEN GROUND NUTMEG ?
@JudiintheKitchen
@JudiintheKitchen 3 года назад
Hi Angie! Thanks for watching and asking your question! With regard to flavor, whole nutmeg will have a stronger, better flavor than purchased ground nutmeg (since the flavor in ground nutmeg diminishes over time). With regard to nutritional value...I can't say for sure. I'm not sure that there have been scientific studies comparing the nutritional or phytonutrient value of ground vs whole nutmeg. With that being said, considering the flavor loss over time of the ground nutmeg, one can assume that there MIGHT be phytonutrient loss over time in the already-ground nutmeg. So, if that's something that's of concern to you, I'd suggest you stick with whole nutmeg if it's available to you. If whole nutmeg is not available in your area, then use what you can find and use it within 6 months (or whenever you notice the flavor and aroma diminishing), then replace it with a new bottle. I hope this helps! Best wishes to you and yours :)

Would this be a good flavoring to put in coffee with coconut oil and ghee butter?
@JudiintheKitchen
@JudiintheKitchen 3 года назад
Hi! Now that's a great question! Unfortunately, it's not one I can answer directly. Taste is subjective...a matter of personal preference. So, all I can say is it's worth a try. But maybe (just in case you don't like it) brew a cup of coffee, then pour just a little in another cup and add the flavorings you want to give it a try. If you don't like it, not much lost and it was worth experimenting with. In that case, you can drink the rest of the coffee without much loss. If you DO like it, then you'll know how to "doctor up" the rest of the coffee. Go for it! Thanks for watching and asking :)

@@JudiintheKitchen thanks for your response! I’m having fibromyalgia symptoms and trying to figure out a way to have a decent cup of coffee without sugar!
@JudiintheKitchen
@JudiintheKitchen 3 года назад
@@refillingthecup6750 Oh my! Best wishes with that endeavor. Now I understand why you're wanting to add nutmeg. Agreed..."warm" spices can add a bit of sweetness all their own. I've enjoyed allspice for that very reason (added to oatmeal). Cinnamon may be another option. Take care :)
@shantinaturechild6385
@shantinaturechild6385 3 года назад
@@refillingthecup6750 of you have fibromyalgia, try to stop drinking coffee and all other kinds off seeds and grains, legumes, nightshade plants, dairy and eggs and if you have mercury fillings or root canals, see a good holistic dentist. Also stop using chemicals like perfumes, cleaning products, toxic carpets and furniture, Teflon coated pans etc. Look into a (raw) ripe fresh organic alkaline produce diet for fibromyalgia. There are studies and my own experience. Search "mycotoxins in food" and avoid those. Mostly grains and seeds including coffee and cacao which are both high in cadmium.

If I have ever had Nutmeg, I don.t remember it! Is it the same principle involved as is eating Almond Butter or Walnut Butter? hmmmmm 🙄
@JudiintheKitchen
@JudiintheKitchen Год назад
Hi Spirit! Nutmeg is a spice, not a type of spread. It's what gives eggnog its classic flavor. It may also be sprinkled on egg custard too and is part of pumpkin pie spice. Whole nutmeg is a small almost round thing that looks like a nut, but it's not actually a nut. We don't eat it whole, but would grind it into a powder in a spice grinder. We typically buy it ground and it's found in the spice isle in most any grocery store. You've most likely eaten it at some point as flavoring in a pie, eggnog, cookie, or something like that. It's along the lines of cinnamon, but with a different flavor. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching and asking :)

Hi! I have MANY informative videos. I'm slowly creating a library of information for viewers to refer to as needed. Please check out my playlists at ru-vid.complaylists Hopefully you'll find info there that will help you out. A new video is being released daily, and many more are lined up to be released, so stay tuned! Thanks for watching and asking. I am not currently a professor (technically retired, but working from the home with my RU-vid channel), but I used to teach nutrition (and related courses) to college students including nursing students, so yes, I have been a professor in the past. So please check out the many videos I already have released. Thanks for recommending the channel!! Best wishes to you and yours :)
