600pt MESBG Battle Report ~ Iron Hills vs Lurtz Scouts

@@larryisonyoutube5802that's a successful chariot. in this report, though, you didn't really commit the chariot to anything. It spent its time either standing still or going back and forth. I was literally saying to the screen "do something! " 🤣

Sadly yeah, it certainly could have a little more impact in the game. The ballista on the other hand just rolled like crap hahaha

Dont worry mate going in to the game I wasn't at all confident. With my list in general I wasn't confident with. But yeah as you said it's a dice game and the ballista didn't roll well to capitalise on my early mistakes and the charriot was mis played but hey that's what practice games are for aye. Figuring out the Nitty gritty details of what a model can and can't do. Larry wanted to see what it could do as a mobile shooting platform and as we saw it didn't work 😂. Playing for the objectives is the name of the game at the end of the day and I think Larry just fell in to a mode of indecisiveness. It happens to the best of us. -sean.r

Got caught between two tactics and didn't execute either well. My shooting should have done much more damage but my dice rolls were awful. Chariot in previous games has been hit and miss as it's positioning is key, I think I've won twice and lost three times with it.

Subverting expectations. Nah them scouts can deal some damage, the speed is amazing on them. Sadly we have no idea where to buy the table hexs as our mate brought them over from England like 15years ago and even he has forgotten. -Sean

Yeah wasn't a very standard Iron hills for Larry there, he just wanted to use his big toys haha -Liam

Yes you can take spears but you can't shoot and spear support in the same turn. I did have some spears added to their backs but they looked rubbish. As for 'what you see is what you get, Sean had my army list and it stated that all crossbows had spears. Would be impossible to track if you said only some had spears, then you'd definately need to identify which ones.

Similar thing with Seans scouts with shields in this game, they all had axes but werent modeled with them!

It definitely wasn't played right. Larry fell in to the trap of indecisiveness and that crippled his game. -sean.r

It was supposed to shoot stuff and then charge then he stuck his main army behind the fence. Should have bombed it up the field turn 3/4 to get the supplies. Never took the army to the tournament and ended up 4th, beating Sean's scouts on the table, that's what tester games are about.. gave me the fear, so I changed armies and have Sean a false sense of security!

Due to the list building restrictions we could only have a max 30 models so Larry decided to get both the charriot and ballista a shot together. Do he play them the right way, not at all and he knows that, we had a huge chat about it after the filming bof the batrep. -sean.r

@@NoobsandMen something like: Dain, Thorin on Goat with Orcrist, 8 Iron Hills dwarves with crossbows, 8 iron hills dwarves sword+shield, 12 iron hills dwarves with spear+shield = 600, 30 models^^

@@Jewus19 that is fair and a solid list. Tho Larry wanted to just give it whirl for the fun of it and we just decided to film it. Not all our batreps are competitive, Just lads throwing dice and having a laugh, testing armies, models and so on just Playing a game we love.
