In this video the 69 Chevelle had some sway bar mounting issues with the bolts pulling out. Back in the 70s the dealership did a little frame modification that needed to be fixed. I just up sized the swaybar mount bolts and welded up the hackery done by the dealership in the 70s

The dealership that did that repair should be ashamed... zero pride in their work

You've brought out the little belt sander again in the last couple of vids.....I was getting worried you'd abandoned it. 😁

The original sway bar brackets were held in by relatively small self tapping bolts, which can tear out . I’ll bet that’s what happened and the dealership cut that hole to repair it with a nut and a bolt. If you modify your suspension and or there is any rust in there that can happen easily.

@@michaelefournier I found that the area was weakened due to rust and abuse, so i cut out the area, and welded in a plate then another plate to fill the hole, essentially doubling the thickness, then drilled and threaded new holes. If that fails i will have to revisit the problem. I would probably make access holes and use nuts bolts and washers.

Do you disconnect the battery when you weld on the frame? Just wondering. I've done both connected and disconnected. Never had a problem either way.

Lucky, I don’t understand the coil overs in the rear of this Chevelle. What was wrong with the factory coil over axle configuration? The rear mounts on shocks brackets were not designed to hold the rear car weight. They were only designed for mounting of the dampeners. What do you think?

So....why is he concerned with the steering box being all original, but the suspension, brakes, and judging by the oil pan and balancer - the engine isn't original? Its funny what some people worry about.

I’d assume the guy was less worried about “original” look and more worried about the junk aftermarket boxes these days. But that’s a guess. I myself am tired of the replacement parts these days and try to buy original NOS when I can.
