You are the only channel on RU-vid that has videos of the tests i do. I guess the swedish and canadian welders are the only ones that stick weld roots with stainless and 7018
Had a bit of a grin thinking very few people noticed what was in your left hand...I may be old and retired now but I still like to watch folks attempting to do what I was fairly good at,in my opinion you offer what a young welder needs to pay attention to,THANKS!!!
@@clive5378 here is an answer to u! I have been around for some time worked in Europe , as a matter of fact I’m born n raise there and work on very high end job with 100% X-ray with severe welding codes and real time X-ray / UT But I guess SS stick isn’t in the WPQ anymore here for high profile jobs
@@MrLrdvd good on u, the comment I made was being directed more to Eduardo sampoia and his presumptions that ' stick welding ss is virtually obsolete in north America' when it actually is widely used in every facet of the industrial and commercial piping industry. Everything from oil and gas right down to basic food processing. I meant no disrespect, just clarifying the fact
I'm doing some duct burner swap outs and we are sticking 316 all the way because we can't back purge due to the holes in the burners. This is top level stuff here, though...
Would like to see some 309 or 308 stainless welding. Certainly do appreciate the arc shots. That's some good filming and welding. Best wishes in all your endeavors. Aloha!
You might want to look at folks welding 316 as it's the most commonly used stainless in the marine field,I say this because of your "aloha"...I also live and weld in the islands but in a different ocean, good luck,I wish you well!
Looks awesome bro! Could you show a video on backfeeding at 5G. I usually weld with gap bigger than wire to where the wire floats but I wanna learn how to feed through the inside of the pipe like you do. If you could go a little more in depth lol. Thanks bro !
Do you have an #instagram account to follow you there as well as here. It's great watching someone who is a master of thier craft, keep it up it's a pleasure to watch.
It's great and all showing the people the weld but how about some information on all of your set up. You're landing your gap Size the rod Size End the Amp yeah I see the machine at 46
I'm filling out 2 inch schedule 180 pipe witty 316 rods. I got the root to go in pretty decent with 3/32 landing and 1/8th inch gap. Gotta do the same with inconel and inconel isn't coming out as nice, ugh.
@@NSW 60 hrz I was told along time ago the welds are better in Europe because of the different hrtz input over there what kind of welding machine are you using so I can buy one
@@markmagalis3376 this is the one I am using minarc evo 180 here www.kemppi.com/en-US/offering/family/minarc-evo/ And here is the dream machine that will leave the esab rebel in the dirt. www.kemppi.com/en-US/offering/family/mastertig/
Mohammed berhila it's a minarc evo 180. What's cool about it is that has self adjusting arc force. You can read more about it here. www.kemppi.com/en-US/offering/product/minarc-evo-180/
Only video I've found close to a test I'm taking. I'm taking this test but it's with a 309 rod. And I'm told to drag the rod. I disagree, watching this video shows I'm correct
Hello my name is Alaa and I am from Iraq if you are publishing this video in order for some people to learn how to weld the pipes you must mention the welding wire number and the degree of the welding machine to complete the video Thank you
zenteno5p i work for gaz industry on pipe carbon steel from 2'' to 18'' with 6013RC rod, with the 6010 you can do regular weld each time, but 6013 is hardest rod to do something regular on root pass for me on the top pipe the puddle is heavy i get to much steel inside, sometimes i get good sometimes no, i work on Miller Maxstar 200 🇺🇸💪
What would you recommend for temp on your stainless root pass? Im practicing for stainless test and it puddles and drips for me. Running around 70 amps with 3/32 gap and 1/16 root face.
I would say 3/32 root face and up to 1/8 gap. If u weld with a keyhole you will fail. Interpasstemp should be below 150 degrees. So try to weld around 50 amps maby less. What filler are u using?
@@NSW the test requires us to use. 316-16 - 3/32" .I've tried" -15. -16. -17." In the 316- rod. Seems like the -17. Runs the best, for cover . But cant do a very good root because of how big the flux is.
1/8 gap and keep a real short arc at the very bottom of the joint and you should be fine. U want the arc to mostly go inside the pipe and once you get that right most of the slag will go there to.
I like a 3/32 root face with a 1/8 gap, 100amps with 3/32 rod. Rods include 308L-16 309L-16 and 316-16. Usually sodel brand rods. I stike the arc and push it in deep past the root face and let it fuse then break the arc. I do it repeatedly around the pipe from root to cap. Always worked for me. And will pass xray no problem
@@weldweld5629 I really wish I had more time to do more videos but sickness in the family, work and kids makes time a luxury I don't have right now. But I really hope and think I will make some more videos. Sorry for not answering.
Mark Lane Joynt you get slag on the root. First you get blue and yellow root and when you put the cap on the root turns grey. To get it silver like this you either polish or like me use acid stainless cleaner.
This video always amazes me. I did a 5g today brother. I need someone on the remote to turn down when needed. Do you have an Instagram account brother?
See that's none conventional in the United States and I don't know why it would make more sense to me if more things were open Root uphill than there are they want to use the tig process which can be defective by default because of gas good video though
