7.3 POWERSTROKE DIESEL GELED UP FIX 

I feel your pain James!! 😫 My second gen gelled up. I had twice the recommended amount of winterizer in it *AND* it was plugged in. The wind chill was -20 and she froze! 🥶 My FASS fuel filters hang down under the bed so the wind just bears down on them now... What a mess. Glad you had help! Good on Elijah for helping and driving in the nasty weather. 🔧🔩

Glad you had help man to get a tow but still pretty crazy it gelled up on ya. I’d expect that from guys up in Alaska but not here.

Power Service white bottle every tank or every other. Under 35 degrees i always use it. Howes in my experience is trash, my 2000 dveloped a fuel knock when i used a bottle or two of it at 135k, its gelled sittin in the bottle in my garage before an P/S was fine. I threw in some Archoil and the knock went away and went back to p/s and its been smooth ever since. Keep an extra fuel filter with you. I always treat my tank even if the fuel is the "winter blend". My stepdad told me years ago in a pinch if you have some gas with you, add that into your filter housing if it gels up. It will thaw the fuel. It wont hurt to run a little of it. He was a trucker for over 40+ years and I've seen him do this on a couple occasions.

This video is perfect timing, thank you! Also to add Diesel 911 if for after the fuel is gelled, you want to add Diesel fuel winterizer/anti-gell. 911 diesel treatment does not prevent gelling.

I use Howes for winters, it doesn't gel it will burn straight, for extreme Howes makes an emergency. I drove 4000000 miles all of its good 911 ore Howes I've always used Howes in my 7.3 97 Ford

Well, thats a pisser about the gelling. I get up in the middle of the night to stoke the stove myself.

Brother they put winterizing in a lot of diesel it gets below 25 it gels so it's not great winter stuff.

Find a way to block off the front of the rad/ grill in cold temps. I drove truck for 36 years, and had diesel pickups for years. It helps. Take care. Todd the retired trucker.

In Alaska we take a pan burn down to coals hardwood so NO flames put it under your pan, depending on, pug in some are low wattage in Montana, then we push pan of coals under truck as long as space between, heat rises. Howes claims burns straight, also be careful any add that has alcohol can do damage certain instances.

I always run diesel additive since my car stalled out on my way to work.
