Bass' characterization with him chilling in a bowling alley is lifted from one of the manga from the nineties, the Megaman and Bass adaptation if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah, I was gonna say that bowling alley looked like it was ripped straight from the Megaman and Bass manga. Looks really awesome, actually. Was excited to recognize something, since I still consider myself somewhat new to the franchise.
There's something about Bass using the hood of a broken down truck as a makeshift couch that's really cool. Like he has this vagabond life-style that's not all that glorious, but he owns it and enjoys the freedom it brings. I wouldn't exactly call it edgy; it's more rebellious than anything.
😮 what a world we live in, 🙂 I was honestly thinking to me myself *what if mega man 4-6 got the wily wars treatment of 16 bit treatment of sorts* wish was granted, *now if only I can get myself a better gaming laptop, in which I am searching for* cool to see you liked 4-6 wily war style, *as for X8 16 bit, now that I would go for in a single heartbeat* beautifully done to you Frank 🙏
@@GottaBeFrank I needed a new one anyway, in which I did ended up getting one 😁🙂 I'm honestly happy now, *I'll still keep my old laptop around, but it was long due I needed a newer one, so I'll probably give it a go one day*
OH MY GOD on the topic of the MMZ versus game, I was talking to myself literally four days ago about how a MMZXA versus mode would work because all of the playable bosses besides Queenbee, Chronoforce, and Argyle/Ugoyle fight pretty much the same as in their boss fight, making a versus mode pretty much perfect, since the boss arenas are literally based around the bosses' movement and attacks
Hey there QnA tester for MM Four Hounds here, once again great list of fangames there(especially Shattered diamond, that's one a really good one) And secondly, the team has been hearing and we have been working on a tons of changes there, from sprites to level design and even a few QoL changes here and there while also keeping the good too With the reception of what people think of the demo, it's no surprise that we got to work right away(even I'm taking part in redesigning one of the levels as a level pack creator)
ah damn, saw the title and thought you might’ve covered mine which was also at sage (dragon man reignited), especially since prototype N isn’t even a fangame. great vid though, i did enjoy most of these games
I only played Prototype N because a friend of mine brought it to my attention. This year's SAGE is probably the one where I paid the least attention to the games, so I'm pretty sure I missed a few.
If you're looking at any more Fangames, I would suggest Shanghai.EXE: Genso Network. It's a crossover fusion with the Touhou series, which basically ports many characters from Touhou into a slightly altered Battle Network. It has an entirely new story, entirely new maps, bosses, features, and a great reworking of the battle mechanics of Battle Network! As well as some new ones! And no, you don't need knowledge of either series to get into it, but it definitely helps you get all the references.
Yeah. I have a different Touhou game and it's great to know that no knowledge of the series is needed to get into the game. It's just boot the game and play.
There's Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch. Being updated constantly these last years, close to finish (Only 1 major update left). Pretty dang good one, lots of content for all characters. Surprised you haven't shown it while MMZO was.
Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch wasn't part of SAGE, but I should have shown it off during the video. There's always potential for a dedicated video on MMXO.
@@GottaBeFrank The game will be receiving its final major update this december (v19.0), so I suggest you only start to plan the video after that, so it doesn't get outdated quickly. Thank you, btw
Always wanted to see a Mega Man Zero game that lets you play as the Guardians. Or something that would work like a Platform Fighter with Zero/ZX characters.
Defo do a sequel, there's a lot of fangames, Mega Man Maker, the Make a Good Mega Man Level series, Mega Man Arena (which I beta tested), 8 bit deathmatch, Unlimited, Rock n Roll, Super Fighting Robot, SFxMM and a lot more. You could even go with Mega Man Eternal if you want to suffer.
To be honest I've have to disagree about the mud part... Not to toot my own hurn but I've beaten the level when out taking hit (besides the bosses) and I find the mud gimmick to be the best gimmick in the game. It just how it's set up, Ive find pacing of the gimmick to be very well done the more I play it. Edit: Tho the gimmick it's self is creative... It does look goofy I can give you that... But I tell this the gimmick is so well implemented that when you first been introduced to the gimmick, it easier to go through the 4 room that with the mud on you then when out it, try it your self. I'ved used rushed to skip it and was harder to dough projectiles in a tight corridor when you have too much jump height (which the mud helps hinder).
X8 is so awesome. I'm glad my taste aren't just limited to the SNES games.Expanding my interests allowed me to enjoy other games that aren't just my favorites.
even though it's still in development after ~15 years, Megaman X Corrupted still remains the most hyped fan game I have ever seen, especially with the recent 1 hour gameplay video! As far as I can tell it looks so close to done!
four hounds apparently runs off the godot engine. as for shattered diamond, i'm not too sure what it uses. it seems like its using game maker studio, with the fan-made mega mix engine. but i could be wrong
Why don't any of these fan-games allow you to play as Roll? She was playable in Powered Up, so it's not like developers would have to create something entirely from scratch.
If you remember, Roll played a bit different than the other characters. Mega Man, Bass, and Proto Man played similar enough, so it's not unrealistic to see them in fan games. Roll has a melee weapon, so that needs to be programmed. I doubt it's simple to pull off.
I get that a lot, but funnily enough I was more inspired by Sonic and Ganbare Goemon. (I've never played Jazz outside of maybe 5 seconds when I was 7 years old or something)
They are some great megaman fan games that you haven’t mentioned in this video like “Megaman Unlimited, Street Fighter x Megaman, Megaman Deathmatch, Megaman Maker, Megaman Arena, Megaman 2.5D, Megaman Battle Network Chrono X” and we’re still waiting for “Megaman X Corrupted” that haven’t been released after all these years which a complete shame 😒
Street Fighter X Mega Man is technically official. Aside from that, I have plans for some of those games. This video was for everything at SAGE 2022, a fan game event for mostly Sonic fan game devs.
Might I recommend Mega Man Legends 3 Prologue? It's an 8-bit demake of the unreleased prototype of the ill-fated game and, in my honest opinion, a well-executed mashup of Classic and Legends gameplay. I'll provide a Google Drive link if you wish.
X8 16-bit is such a massive disappointment. I absolutely love X8; it's my favorite game in the franchise by far, so when I heard it'd be getting the fan demake treatment like Rockman 7/8 FC, I was psyched. And then I found out X would be the only playable character, with Axl being completely absent and Zero being reserved for cutscenes and I died inside. The variety of playable characters in X8 are a big factor of what made that game so great, so getting rid of that just kills all the charm.
Honestly i could care less, while having multiple characters is nice i can live without it, we had multiple megaman games with only 1 playable character, as long the game itself is fun i don't really mind if they removed those, would i prefer if they had them? 100% but i can live without it especially if the levels and etc are remade to fit x but still feel similar to x8 enough, a good megaman x is a good megaman x game and that is enough to me even if it don't feel 100% accurate to x8.
@@RaphielShiraha64 But why remake X8 for that though? Why not do original game altogether? Why remake the game if you plan to remove features most people liked?
@@odinatra Eh debatable, the game will still have x8 bosses, stages, musics etc, just because shop and multiple characters don't exist not mean the game will automatically transform into another game, that's like getting sonic 3 & k and making only sonic playable and removing super forms, yeah that sucks? i could say so, but the game itself is still sonic 3 & k, you still go through angel island, you still fight knuckles, you still go to the death egg and so on.
The demo I played is not the same as the recently released Episode Red demo. The SAGE 2022 version has less levels and the multiplayer mode available. It's worth seeking out.
Mega Man Rock Force & Mega Man: Dr.Wily Final Attack are fan games you would check out But there were some Mega Man Sage Fan Games like Mega Met & Mega Man Y+1 you should try.
Are Four Hounds and Shattered Diamond completed games? They're the ones I'm the most interested in, and i definitely want to try them out, but i'm not really a fan of playing unfinished games tbh
Just discovered "Megaman X online deathmatch" wow what a cool project. Just like the Zero game from this video but including everything from X-X3. Yes you heared me, EVERYTHING! All bosses + X , zero, vile, sigma. Etc.
Besides "Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch" and "Mega Man Zero Online", have you ever heard of *"Mega Man X Online: Deathmatch"?* It's another great megaman fan game!
Have you played Mega Man Arena? If not you need to play it! It's basically Smash but only Mega Man characters. It has a huge cast of characters from all mega man games (I main Heat Man, he's my favorite Mega Man character of all time and is kinda busted in the game).
If you're interested in another game with some similarities to Mega Man, I sugggest having a look at Copy Kitty. It's a game where you copy and combine your opponents powers on the go. There's a lot of content and a bunch of epic boss battles.
That would be nice. I wont slam the NES sprites as that was probably a limitation of the console, dictating the art style. They got 9 games out of those sprites, so cool for Capcom.
14:35 just off the top of my head, you know how many bars you are taking without having to watch the HP bar, so you dont take your eyes off the fight and can still know if you are using the weakness or at least being halfway effective. Honestly subtle usefulness but a nice addition.
to be fair to megaman uprising bass was always this edgy if you listen closely to his dialogue in megaman 7,8 and megaman and bass he is always pretty edgy
@@GottaBeFrank You could say it is, but it's basically a roguelite Co-Op MegaMan X that gets constantly updated and has an amazing dev team, couldn't recommend it enough. It's super addicting and fun to play with a friend
To be fair, this was the 4th SAGE video of that year and repeating the description would be redundant. Anyway, SAGE is the Sonic Amateur Games Expo and is an online event where fan game devs can show off their projects and gamers can try them out. They don't just allow Sonic games as fan projects from other franchises are also included.
@@GottaBeFrank I appreciate it, thank you. Even a link in the description would have helped but nobody wants to link to the thing they’re talking about anymore. I hope this doesn’t sound condescending but in the words of Stan Lee, Every comic is somebody’s first comic.” Have a nice day!
I get it. It was also a hectic time, when I was making the other SAGE videos. I was wrapping up my coverage of it, while getting started on a Sonic Frontiers review that would release less than a week later.
@@GottaBeFrank I know, I meant that in the sense that too many people are making Classic-series games. That wasn't a criticism towards anyone specific.
@@L00D__ Wouldn't really call it unfair to be honest, it has some bad parts but the game is still playable and still feel good enough, plus the devs already answered to the criticism and is remaking the level design of pretty much the entire game + changing or fixing some of the new gimmicks.
