I think deaths in this show are limited for a good reason. Why I believe the death of major characters are so few and far between us because they need to have an impact on the story. For example. Sabo's (supposed) death helped give ace and Luffy a deadline to leave the island and start their journeys. Ace's death helped push Luffy to become a better pirate overall. White beards death helped to reignite the great pirate era over all. Luffy's whole thing is that he won't kill you but he will kill your dream. A person with no dream cannot live freely. But that's my hot take on the subject.

I 100% agree that Shanks dying would make for a powerful moment, but having Shanks constantly serve as Luffy’s saviour doesn’t suit Oda’s storytelling style. I lean towards the idea that Shanks will face defeat in battle, his dream on the brink of being shattered, only for Luffy to step in and save him at the last moment. It would be a poetic parallel: Shanks sacrificed his arm for Luffy, and Luffy could, in turn, sacrifice something significant defending him-perhaps even his eye-for Shanks. Oda did say a pirate with an eye-patch would appear in the story. The idea that Shanks is deeply invested in seeing the new Warrior of Liberation, or Joy Boy, for reasons tied to his own tragic backstory (family trauma, Roger's death, etc) opens several possibilities. As for who could defeat him? I’d hope we see Shanks vs. Garling. If he turns out to be Shanks’ father, it would set the stage for an epic showdown between them. Imagine the emotional weight of Shanks' backstory being revealed during a fierce father-son battle, with Shanks on the verge of giving up, only for Luffy to arrive just in time. That would be EPIC!

I feel like that the final war arc is gonna be a new gen god valley incedent where koby and luffy team up against bb, and while they beat him we get flashbacks of the final war, which is why it was hidden for so long.

Imu dying is pretty much a given. Considering that we had Thriller Bark where the people without shadows faded away in the sunlight, Imu will probably fade away after loosing to Luffy and Koby. Luffy usually crushes peoples dreams so Imu probably does not have a dream but is dutybound guarding the Red line. Luffy would probably liberate Imu by defeating her/him. Usopp still has not captained a ship so he's safe for now. Shanks and Luffy are pretty likely, i don't see Kuzan, Blackbeard or Garp dying though.

I think Luffy, at the end, "dies"; by leaving the world and, after fully becoming Nika, isolating himself in some sort of other dimension where he can create what he wants, because evil in the world will always exist, but he'll always be free

I honestly think Luffy is the type of person who'd want to do it all again. He's different from Roger. Law is absolutely the one to make a sacrifice for the greater good. In fact, it correlates to how Cora gave his life for Law for the betterment of his life. I am predicting it now.

in the end, Garp didn´t really raise Ace and Luffy. Dadan and her Gang did it. Garp just showed up occasionally to beat the boys up and to try convincing them to join his carrier path in the Navy. but yes: him lying on the ground, accepting the raging punches of Dadan, was a great gesture of him. but if he "raised" his son like he did with his grandson and his adopted grandson, it´s no wonder why the Monkey family is so messed up.

As I recall way back in early One Piece, Luffys death was hinted at mimicking Roger’s, he was gonna be executed and he just smiles and says “I’m dead”. Plus with the theme of Luffy, he’ll definitely die to make everyone’s dreams come true, he’ll disband the Straw hats after the end of the final battle so everyone can peruse their dreams. Because Luffy will have become king of the pirates, liberated the world from Imu and the world government, so it would make sense that Luffy would allow the Straw Hat crew to live their own lives in the new world. Frankie surpasses Vegapunk Chopper becomes a great doctor that cures all diseases Nami becomes a great navigator Usop becomes a warrior of legend and maybe even leads others in the new world You get the idea, Luffy makes everyone’s dreams come true and he likely passes away either by execution or his life ends from the devil fruit. That’s my take anyways.

I think Aokiji is definitely planning something and he reminds me of Kuma, Kuma was introduced as the most hated character before the time skip, I mean we all thought the strawhats were going to be killed by him but then the whole story flipped when we knew that Kuma sacrificed his last bit of humanity left to protect the sunny. My predictions for each of the 7 deaths mentioned 1. Shanks- killed by Garling. Shanks is a close tie into Tyr and Garling is likely a tie in to a wolf from Norse mythology Garm. Garm is the guardian wolf to the underworld and the Goddess Hela. So makes me think of Garling as Garm and maybe Hela as IMU 2. Blackbeard- I think he will be defeated by Luffy but Killed by IMU. There is a lot of foreshadowing of IMU wanting Blackbeard dead 3. Kuzan- This ones tough. Either BB or IMU assuming he dies at all. Either one he would be protecting Robin who either BB kidnaps to help find OP or IMU to prevent it from being found. 4. Garp- This one is hard but I would say it needs to be after we get to see a team up between Garp-Dragon and Luffy. So that leads me to believe he dies in the battle vs BB as all three of them now have some beef with BB. 5. IMU-Obviously defeated by Luffy could be more like banished than killed though. Kind of fitting with the demonic seeming nature of IMU 6. Ussop-No way he dies LOL 7. Luffy- Burns himself out overdoing it in final fight. Chopper or Law could save him but Luffy is like Naw it's ok

Luffy can't and shouldn't die. He can live a normal life, might lose his devil fruit power, but still can use haki, be the captain of his crew, marry his partner ( whom I suppose is Hancock) and enjoy their journey with their crews

How about a list that probably already exists: Several things fans will lose their minds over if they aren't resolved by the end of the new arc: Akainu and Dragon's past, ROCKS, more back story for Blackbeard and his crew, God Valley, how Shanks got his scars exactly, WHO is Luffy's mom actually, will the Cross Guild actually take out a notable bounty like maybe admiral level, and Imu/Gorosei back story. Oh and the Void Century I suppose. We already know we can't trust Big News Morgan with this information....

Luffy's death at the end of the story will be full circle of the story or tale that is One Piece. Of course, Brook is the one telling it in the future. He cannot die anymore because he's already dead, and his immortality will make him a storyteller and a bard that sings Luffy, Nika and Joy Boy's legacies and adventures.

Mihawk seems like a character to die, I mean he is the last of the holders with Strongest. Whether is via a cheat method (Shilew) or straight up broken opponent (Demonic Form Garlig) , and even a honourable loss for the title from Zoro, what purpose does he serve not only within the story but his life in general.After all isnt that what he waits, a worthy rival to fight to full extend. He lived ,he became the Strongest Swordman, he got bested , Finito.Not really a tragic of sad death , but one of conclusion.

One Piece doesn’t need more major deaths, honestly Ace + WB served their purpose as Luffy’s character growth but nothing else is needed, especially no Straw Hats. It would be so anti-One Piece to kill a straw hat off, especially so late in the story.

Teach is openly aiming for acknowledged king status, wanting Beehive island to become kurohige kuni with him the king. But I believe that's not his final plan. Lafitte being on the lookout where the food supply to the Celestial Dragons hints at Blackbeard trying to find out ways to get an "in" to become acknowledged as a celestial dragon himself. If he/his crew can help the celestial dragons get food again, defying the revolutionaries' plan, he might actually get to go up to Mariejoa. The marines are already familiar with him from his Shichibukai status, so they might let him in again. I believe his plan is however not to leave it at that, but follow in Rocks' steps and gunning for Imu and taking the place on the world throne. The one piece and ancient weapons could be a backup plan for if he isn't let in by the world government and decides to take his place the hard way.

What i think might happen is that in the final battle luffy dies and law sacrifices himself to do the immortal surgery on luffy so that luffy can defeat the world government and create the new dawn, the fact law sacrificed himself will give luffy even more willpower and determination to defeat them, which in my opinion is a good thing.

I can see Black Beard die from over using his darkness power and it consumes him. He'll beat luffy and start approaching the One Piece, but exhausted and his powers goes out of control. Darkness spreads, Luffy goes Sun God mode to stop it, and once it is under control Black Beard dies since his life force is basically gone.

I honestly think that's what luffy and Roger's dreams are, to die after it all. I mean, that's always been my thought, after he finishes his goals in life, he just wants to die in a glorious way, or just die.

If Loki is Fenrir that means he is a canine of some sort and we have seen luffy tame dogs before. A imitation Cerberus during thriller bark. A good smack to the head and they all respect luffy. Loki might somehow become a straw hat ally or is just gonna get clobbered by luffy once in his fenrir form.

after finishing his journey, defeating his adversaries, reaching his goals, living his dreams and freeing the world, Luffy might just come to a point where not even Choppers abilities or the Ope Ope no Mi could really save him. he would just lose his will to live - and if this is happening unconciously. and in all the fights of the entire Saga, Luffy had always proven that is mind and willpower are so much stronger than his body. his willpower was often times the only thing that kept him going and continue his fights. Luffy would die a happy man living a fullfilled life. not to mention: leaving this world behind would be the best thing Luffy could do after defeating Imu and taking out the world government. Oda might not show us that, but after the destruction of the ruling class and their power system, there will be chaos all over the world. wars will break out. people will try to overthrow their local governments and kings. warlords will rise and fight for power and control. Luffy will save the world from destruction only to send it down a spiral of violence and chaos, which could last for decades or maybe even centuries. and Luffy should not be alive to see how the people will start seeing him not the warrior of liberation but the warlord of destruction.

1. shanks will be ofc safed by luffy thats the only conclusion that makes sense, otherwise luffy failed like he did with ace and will die of heart break. 2. garp and dragon both could not do what luffy did, while they wanted to do that and luffy not. thats why those three will be reunited. 3. maybe usopp will try to scarifice himself but jasopp will be the first time a real dad. 4. actually think instead of kuzan akainu will die. in the end akainu will learn that kuzans "softness" is more worth than his intense justice. kuzan as head of sword could then finally have the change on the marines garp and sengoku always wanted. 5. ok I actually think blackbeard will die, but I also could imagine that blackbeard is something like judas. there is the judas evangelium indicating judas did what he did bc jesus asked him to do that, knowing the world will hate him for the rest of time. one could argue that the real blackbeard, who also sailed under the english flag, was a little bit like that. and that blackbeard is not the opposite of luffy but of shanks, both in cahuts to trick the whole world they are enemies, so they can bring luffy to imu. 6. Imu will pretty sure die. 7. luffy... hmmm. would make sense, but I dont think so. I think its more likely the warrior of liberation dies, bc the liberation finally came and with him all df disappear. sure deaths in stories can give the story a deeper meaning but its also a sign, that the author doesnt know how to go on/doesnt need the character anymore. could imagine oda is a different case. normally Im a big fan if some characters die, it just accelerates the story and gives meaning etc. pp. but tbh I never missed it in one piece and would be fine if aces death was enough emotional damage ;)

I think these are good predictions if this wasn't Oda we are dealing with. Some of these people may die, but I think it hinges on two things. 1, there is still very important information that we don't know yet, possibly including new characters and events and this could have a big impact we can't understand yet. 2, while Oda likes to have patterns and foreshadowing, he also likes to subvert expectations and have wacky twists. I'd say the two for sure are Blackbeard and Imu, and then probably Shanks. Sakazuki has maybe just as much of a chance as dying as Kuzan. I'm sure at least one SH will die, and these two are the highest likelyhood, I expect a twist or two beyond our understanding.

I hope Luffy leaves the fleet to Usopp when he ascends to whatever "being" he becomes...wandering the land singing and throwing parties.
