Unfortunate having to swap every bike I buy. If anything it should be front on the left in RHD countries like the UK so you can hand signal and still cover your strongest brake. Regardless it's dumb to have it opposite every motorcycle everywhere.

Love the vid so much! The sentence concerning the front brake made me LOL! NORMALLY on the right side - haha - just the rest of the world does different but can't be seen as standard applicable. The inverted perspecive (same with left side driving) is such an amusement and worth watching the vid, thanks Rich! And further even better: ... left, if you are an "Euro" or our American friends as well - Brexit between the lines - very British - I love the deadpan humour, but it's meant seriously, I'm afraid.

I've been riding rather hard for over ten years on natural trails (I've never been to a bike park) and can only think of a handful of instances where those three skills might have ever come in handy. Sure, they'd be great to learn and might help once in a while but I'm not going to sweat it and not knowing them hasn't slowed me down.
@MrSchuits
@MrSchuits 2 года назад
@@mattlloyd6651 I agree. Been a casual MTBer for many years and have never don't done manuals or bunny hops. They seem like a waste of energy TBH. Perhaps in a racing situation where every seconds counts I could see how bunny hopping an obstacle would be faster than riding over it.

This is really good, I want your advise... I think my bike is a bit big for me (I’m 5.5 and my bike is Scott Genius 2020 size M), how can the size impact my ability to perform a manual? I found it really hard to accomplish the move and I don’t know if is due the geometry, the size or is just my lack of confidence to lean back enough to rise the front wheel... Thanks in advance!!! Your advise will help me a lot!!

It's so refreshing to see this pro dude using pinned pedals and pin-appropriate shoes-- as opposed to clipping in! I live within a massive mountain biking community and I feel like there's always debate about which version is better. To each their own in my opinion, but I feel like those who clip-in always act as if they're more "hardcore" than those who go with pins. It almost becomes like an elitist thing. I know that has nothing to do with this video but I just had to comment! Haha

@rolux4853 3 года назад
Me neither, but it depends on the bike. While my Nukeproof Mega 290 is fairly nice to wheelie, I find it impossible to manual with it. And I really mean impossible, I just can’t get the front wheel up high enough with the 450mm chainstays. Maybe my EXT Storia Coil shock makes it even harder. No matter how hard I pull on the front wheel, I’m not able to lift it high enough.. On my Begamont Kiez Dirtjump bike however, I’m able to pull some short manuals off.
@paddor
@paddor 3 года назад
Ro Lux Push, don’t pull.
@rolux4853
@rolux4853 3 года назад
Patrik I tried that too, and my Formula Selva seems to push me up quiet a bit. Which feels nice and like a good starting point to get onto that backwheel. But then the 450mm chainstays of the Nukeproof Mega 290 and the EXT Storia come to the equation and they seem to eat up every bit of energy my fork has build up. It’s extremely frustrating. I wish someone with really good manual skills would try it on my bike and then tell me if it’s really not possible to get the frontwheel up high enough..

I can see a few newbies tipping it in then front braking. Don't do it brake hard stood up. Only use the back brake once into the corner, when you have more skill you may want to use the front brake during cornering, but for beginners if you want to try it do it on grass with no obstacles. Ride safe.

I have a question, I have a pretty long reach to my bars on my trail bike, I've been trying to do manuals with it but it feels like I can't get my bum behind the back tire because my arms is fully stretched. So the manual will only result in a slight lift of the front wheel at best. Also, I tried it on a dirt jump bike with a friend, and I managed to manual for a couple of meters on the first try. Are my bike too big for me even though I bought a bike built for guys who's 180cm long?

@Dopey Dope If you do any meaningful pedaling your knees should have an extension angle of 25 to 35, otherwise you're not putting out optimum power and hurting your knees. Everything functions properly ru-vid.comUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of RU-vid. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
