I love how much real life political satire and social commentary is casually slipped into some of the most bizarre other worldly situations in this show, ive noticed it throughout, and its one of the biggest things thats got me hooked. To be a writer who narrates an entirely different world, yet still managing to comment on real life situations indirectly is very clever and subtle

When it comes to Night Vale, I found the fandom first. It just so happened that the cryptid and vaguely disturbing nature of its comedy aligned with something else I liked online, and I started to get content from the fandom. I began to fall in love with simply the way Cecil talks - the way he speaks slowly and with deliberate vocabulary, the way he deadpan switches between normal things and highly disturbing things, the way he gets excited about some things and goes "out of character", the way he describes _Carlos...!_ As much as I didn't want to put my time and soul into another fandom, in the end, I simply could not resist content this good. _And so it began._

The part about the guns and students reminds me of the prison industrial complex/ school to prison pipeline. Night Vale has always had more AfroFuturistic vibes to or for me than Eldrictian, and this is why. Damn near makes me wonder if Night Vale OS hood-adjacent, kinda like how I grew up for awhile.

As I’m listening to this I’m sitting at my kitchen table with a sesame seed covered bagel and a rag to rub of all the sesame seeds and then I think “what the hack I’m I doing? what is life?”
