That hike would sit in the corner and cry compared to the one you would need to make to get to the monastery I mentioned in the previous video 😂. Hopefully you could make it in the summer. Glad you’re enjoying Lebanon the way it should be enjoyed.
See if you can attend a maronite mass too , half of the liturgy is still in aramaic their original language which is also the same dialect of aramaic that Christ spoke in , it will be a nice spiritual and cultural experience
Another breath Taking video Emily. Such amazing filming with so much sincerity and love to where you are. You show us things so calmly it is so Captivating. I also loved the man2oushe yum yum best breakfast for me in the entire world. I wanted to see more in that video. Looking forward to the next longer video hehe.
Hehe, you're in luck because a longer video is coming up! 😄 Thank you zuzangelo for your heartfelt, kind comment. I really appreciate it, and it encourages me to keep going 😊
Just can't find words to describe how i feel when i've seen back Bcharré ,the kadisha Valley, stunning view that i ve missed so much! thank you so much for sharing,it goes right-ahead to the heart!
Kadisha from the Syriac language, meaning holy, Syriac was the official language of Lebanon before Arabic. This valley is where the Christians hid from the Muslim attacks in the old times, such as the Mamelik attacks, Ottomans etc.
@@redninja2814 The only reason that Lebanon was able to rise up was the generous support from rich gulf Arab and Arab petrodollars , from generous donation to offering Lebanese well paid job opportunities to investments, petrodollars deposit in banks that made Lebanon known as the Switzerland of the Mideast for its ability to attract Arab petrodollars fund, currently the situation changed is far more difficult to attract Arab money and support even if political relationships get better the Arab gulf countries are financially under pressure making it difficult to assist Lebanon . the only thing keeping Lebanon standing is Lebanese expat rimmatfance. many Arab countries depend on expat remittance, the largest source of Lebanese remittance is Saudi Arabia and gulf Arab countries then the U.S. and Australia.
@@Jewzi123 lebanon is a rich country in Petrol, Oil, Gaz and water, all Nations knew it, also they know that we don’t need anybody, we have the biggest reserve of Gaz and petrol in the Middle East enough to make every Lebanese a millionaire, just like the Arab countries …….. but having a greedy and criminal country on our border is killing us and causing us to be poor by force. But God, Our Lord Jesus, His Holy Mother Mary and All Our Holy Saints are Protecting us from this evil country. And someday, hopefully not far, we will be able to stand on our Feet ….. by the Grace of Our Savior Jesus Christ. 🙏🕯🙏
Hahahaha I laughed when you said we were meant to order meat and zatar. That’s not heard of, but yogurt and zatar is the right combination. Even if the guy understood it as meat (lahmeh), he would not have given you that. Found you guys by accident. Born in Lebanon, live in Australia, love your videos. Wish I was there, looking forward to watching them all 😊
Albeit the lebneh was good. We like thyme and sumac on our eggs with a side of lebneh add some Onions tomatoes and avocados...mmm mmm. If you ever go back try the spinach pies! Yum
@20camels I have to say that you ended up making a very fortunate mistake! Meat and thyme wouldn't have worked well together 😂. On the other hand ladne and thyme are a superb combo. I'm glad you enjoyed the trip.
I miss my lebanon village which is kfrasghab.I migrated to Australia at the age 12 years to my grandparents now I am 79 years . I would like to go back to my village for the rest of my life ONLY TO EAT the FABULOUS fresh POMMEGRANTE FRUIT from the holy valley . Thank you for the video❤😂
Qadisha Valley means the holy valley, Qadisha is an assyrian word that means holy, they called it qadisha, because the whole valley was and still places for many monks and hermits, and the people who passes next to the valley they would hear the monks praying "qadishat Aloho, qadishat hayoltono, qadishat lo moyouto" = holy is God, holy is the mighty, holy who never dies... the word "qadishat" was given to this valley...
The mass deportations of people by the Assyrians and the use of Aramaic as a lingua franca by Babylonian merchants served to spread the language, so that in the 7th and 6th centuries bce it gradually supplanted Akkadian as the lingua franca of the Middle East.
Aramaic (a Semitic language) that was the everyday tongue in the Levant & Mesopotamia. Like most languages, Aramaic spread through centuries of conquest, spurred by the invasions of the Assyrian & later Persian empires. A version of it is spoken by communities of Chaldaean Christians in Iraq & Syria. In the age of the historical Jesus, Aramaic was confronted by new imperial realities: The whole of the Levant, was part of the Roman empire. The historical Jesus probably did not speak Latin. The lingua franca through much of the eastern Roman world was Greek, The gospels carried down by tradition were written in Greek - via the eastern Roman empire.
The hike is much more longer and spectacular down there, should ve slept in the quannoubine monastery and continued the next day, I usually rent a room in the monastery and hike on multiple paths every day
🌲🌲🌲🌼🌼🌸🌸🌲🌲🌲🥂🇱🇧🇱🇧🇱🇧😇😇😇🎥🎥🎥🎯... This one.. Reminds me of the Gd old hiking days in Lebanon practically every single weekend ... Nowadays it's only a couple of visits each year to lebanon.. It's weird how time takes us away from home even though there's no better place to b.... By d way We did the same track back in 2018 it was around the same time frame... And it was awesome... Thank you for your visit to Lebanon, and we hope that you enjoyed this visit, but you have to visit Byblos because it is the most beautiful city in Lebanon🇱🇧❤️
First! Yay finally a new video! Thank you so much for upload it today 😊 Cannot wait for the next adventure from you 👍 P.S can you drop your skincare routine or what product did you use when you travelling? Your skin looks so flawless and really smooth! Need that info ASAP 😁
Thank YOU, Kevin! 😊 Next one coming soon My skincare routine is kind of complex and long: I wash my face with cleanser, apply toner, a facial serum, eye brightener/moisturizer, and finally use a moisturizer followed up by sunscreen. I travel with everything I own, so my self-care bag is not "travel-size" 😆
@@20CamelsEmily wow thanks for the reply, no wonder your skin is amazing! It's looks super smooth and clear 🌟 Perhaps in the future video or in tiktok you consider to sharing to us about how you maintaining your health while travelling aboard and/or how your skin must be dealing with travelling activities; living in another country, adjusting your tastebud and stomach while eat their local culinary, extreme weather/climate, etc. That's will be a great help to those who want to travelling aboard and living the life just like you and Valentine. Lastly, I'm really happy that I'm stumble upon your channel while searching about honey in farmer market, and your Belarus video pop up 😆 You deserve more subs and views! By the way take care and stay safe there 🙏
Labneh and zaatar is OK., but meat and zaatar nobody makes it actually. From what I perceive, it seems that this vlog was taken before and not this year. This year 2022 it did snow a lot.
Great point! I might have confused him. The problem is, in the moment, if I can't do the mental calculation quickly enough because being American I tend to think in miles 😅

@@20CamelsEmily yup next time maybe! And i would love to recommend this guy “Anthony rahayel” he is a Lebanese food vloger and well knowledgeable about all lebanon. I believe would be a good idea to make some videos together! Good luck ❤️
Zaatar explainer: Thyme, oregano, hyssop and marjoram are all referred to as Zaatar in Lebanon and they are used in different ways. However the zaatar you eat in a manouché is actually Lebanese oregano mixed with sumac, roasted sesame seeds and salt. Other Levantine countries have their own Zaatar mix of herbs and spices, but in Lebanon, it's traditionally those four ingredients that make up the zaatar mix for manouché.
Thank you for the video. Lebanon will always be the most beautiful country in the world.c Just don't watch the news, they only put the ugly side of it.
Hey Peter, I recommend asking my friend Anthony in Bcharre for the exact location. You can contact him on IG at: @sequoia.guesthouse or you can ask someone in Bcharre when you get into town. Anyone would be glad to help you :) Have a great hike & trip!
I am pretty sad you didn't visit the religious house at the end there is a father who is actually a priest his body is still the same his daughter is a saint who dressed up as a boy to be with her father and live with Jesus she has a nice story too
Yeah, there’s a lot we missed on that hike. Unfortunately we couldn’t keep going because we didn’t really want to be hiking back in the dark. I guess we’ll have to save that for next time
