I got some fresh lube where I used to have pubes now there's a bumpy rash half way to my a$$ 😥 that razor u advertise got me in quite the predicament.. I can't ride without looking like a dog with a itchy butt on a carpet😖 You owe me a new seat! It's all worn out at the crotch area. And the cream the doc gave me is throwing off my balance when I lean into a curve my butt is slipping off the seat. Not good Yams.. Not good. The face isn't that pretty, but hey it's better than the MT-10 face, or the GSX-S1000F face, or the Honda NM4 face, or the Ducati Supersport face. The rest of the Versys 650 is a good looking machine actually. Just wish it had a barkin' 800cc sport Vtwin.

The ninja 250r has an incredible chassis, I'm certain yammy has never ridden one. They corner incredibly well, I own a "cool" bike now but miss the on rails handling of the Ninja.

Sorry man, I love my Versys 650, I am not saying it is pretty, but for where I live and my uses it makes sense.... and perhaps that is the point, your review is from the point of view of American roads which tend to be very wide and straight.... so for road use Cruisers make sense, they really don't in the UK, and sports bikes lack practicality and comfort. When you get older and your bones start creeking, you might understand that being hunched over a sports bike ain't that good, and cruisers aren't that good on twisty roads. The Versys is the "compromise" as "versatile system" kinda suggests. - it is reasonably priced, it is comfortable, it handles luggage well, it handles well in the city, it is good on twisty rural roads... it is competent on motorways (yeah a big engine bike is better, I do miss my Triumph for that, but that's life), I live in a city surrounded by lots of twisty hilly roads, my Versys is my only vehicle, so luggage is a must. Yeah... there are bikes out there I might rather have, but I can't afford or house multiple bikes. On rideouts I keep up with the liter bikes. So basically what I'm saying is, it is the Swiss Army Knife of road bikes*, it is not the best at anything, but more than competent at everything. As for image, it may be derided, but when my next door neighbour who has written 4 books about riding around the world on his bike heard that I was thinking about getting a Versys 650, he congratulated me on my choice. *If you want off--road as well then the Indian configuration of the V-Strom would be a choice (even uglier IMHO than the Versys) as it has a longer wheel base, and larger wheels... and the reason why Indian configuration specifically: Spoked Wheels that won't shatter like alloys.

I understand why people buy the 650 Versys. I'm sure it outsold the bigger 1000cc version 3 to 1. Shows people aren't daft when it comes to mpg. Wonderful having a litre bike but on a long daily commute running costs are a consideration, especially in UK

The Versys 650 isn't that fuel efficient. I get 45-50mpg on mine, which is on the low end of the 650 class. You get a few types that buy them. One buys them because they think it is a cheap ADV bike, then hate it because it isn't good in the dirt. Another buys them because they love sport touring bikes, but are on the older side and can't handle the weight of a big bore ST bike anymore. Then you get the people that buy them because of the insane bang for the buck you get with it, especially on used ones since they sell for cheap due to the ... questionable styling.

@@mrvwbug4423 I got mine because it's really practical (you could almost say versatile...), comfortable, cheap to buy and sufficiently fast. Put a massive fart can on it (Hurric RAC1 slip-on), now everyone in town hears me coming so it's even somewhat safe. Fuel economy is terrible around town though, but I use the exhaust instead of the horn so that is to be expected.

Jose just go for the 500. I just got the 500 about a month ago and I have no complains about it so far. I bought it because I wanted a bike that was good for beginners but also has enough power to where I won't get bored of it in a few months. So far I'm very happy with it. My girlfriend loves it and pretty much everyone that sees it says it's a beautiful bike. I feel like the 300 was definitely gonna be too slow for me.

So I live in a north eastern us state. It snows here, like a lot. When I lived 3/4 of a mile from work I rode a 50 cc scooter to work every day. Yes I rode when it was snowing, I rode when it was raining I rode EVERY DAY on that gutless pos. When I moved away from work I wanted a bike that I could ride every day that went faster than 30 mph. Enter into my life the Honda Rebel 250. Its cheep and cheerful, I can stud the tires to ride in the winter, and I can drag it out of a snow bank if I have to. I continue to ride every day, the Rebel is my winter bike, and I have a more fun bike for the summer, but the Honda Rebel has a special place in my heart. Yammy I want to see a video of you on a turbo 'busa like I want a new set of studded snows for my Rebel.

I started on a Grom and I thought it was a great bike to learn on. It was very forgiving, un-intimidating and quite accessible. The only downside is that if you don’t plan on heavily modifying the bike, you will quickly out grow it (tops out around 60MPH). Yam yam should definitely get a turbo-busa! Until I saw this video, I actually thought you genuinely loved the busa.

I really think he doesn’t understand the difference between a ninja 250 and the newer 250r. The pre 08 versions look like shit, but the 08 and newer look the same as any other bike, minus the size an performance.

That’s what I was saying the 250r and 300 look some much alike... and he also said there wasn’t much of a price difference.. where I’m from 250r are 1500 2000 used good condition.. and 300 are 3000+ good condition.. and there’s a shit ton of 250 in the market.. performance wise I think his correct tho..

Yeah I don’t think he knows the generation change in 08. I got a lot of compliments when I got my 2009 250r brand new as my first bike. People thought at first glance it was a normal 600. But he is right, it’s performance has a lot to be desired, and the fact it’s carbureted makes it that much more less appealing. But I look back my Ninja 250r in a positive light cus it gave me the confidence to be the rider who I am today.

FranTheMan 88 yea that’s the point of the bike and it’s cheap used... the 250r and 300 are basically the same but 300 is a upgraded version fuel-injection abs extra 50cc for that sweet spot performance but a cost.. plus he should have put the 250r in his vid he just talked about it with no image at all..

The Busa opinion is kinda "USA-centric". You guys in the States DO have a ridiculous Busa scene, 50ft swingarms with a 350 tyre, maybe ridden by a 18yo squid, but here in Europe the things tend to be different...

Hayabusa's looks are a safety feature. It keeps people who use a bikes looks, as a description of its feature set, away from it. It is a really really good GT bike, but if your still a rider who worries about what other people think, it may not be for ya.

As you're partially right a lot of the looks have each purpose, some people say that it's "too heavy" that weight allows it to go as fast as it does and a Busa Bro of mine owns a 2015 Hayabusa with a K1 Fender and it started to lift at 200km/h

The Hayabusa was designed in a wind tunnel to go fast. My Prius was designed in a wind tunnel to have low drag. Compare it to a Corvette. Get over it.

You are so right about the Versys 650, I own one and literally loath my existence almost daily. Every time I hop on this terrible machine, I get physically ill. I think I’ve thrown up in my helmet at least 35 times, it’s starting to smell. My wife left me, my kids no longer respect me, and my parents haven’t invited me to Thanksgiving in years. All because I ride the Got Damn Versys 650!

It's also kinda lost on people that live places where all the roads are straight *cough*Texas*cough* haha. It has very good suspension and handles incredibly well, it lives for the twisties. On an interstate it is just a 650 class bike with a comfy riding position.

The Ninja 250 first went on sale (in the US) in 1986. 86-87's are pretty uncommon. 88's are very common. I love people hating on them. I bought mine as a first bike for $1000, rode for 4 years and improved my skills, then sold it for 1500.

I’m taking the motorcycle class this weekend (even though we aren’t required to in my state) and even though this post is not what relevant to the video I’d like to say thanks for informing me and have prepared me to start on the process of getting my class M. I’m 20 so I feel like I’m starting late when it comes to peoples videos on here but in my area everyone is a cruiser boi on Harley’s or other bikes of that nature. They are also in the 40s majority of the time. In my instance I’ll be the youngest rider in my area so all of your videos and collectively others as well have helped me understand what I am getting myself into and I feel fully prepared but not so much to be cocky about it. Thank you.

The busa is actually a good design, it’s shaped that way for a reason. Serious wind protection. It also soaks up road imperfections and handles a lot better than people give it credit for. King of the interstates.

I'm not a real biker either, since I pretty much did the same thing, except I bought a new cruiser just because I didn't want to deal with any major maintenance for the first couple of years. I wanted to focus on riding, not wrenching, even though a used Honda Shadow would have been just fine since they are reliable bikes.

As a Versys 650 owner, the best part about riding one, is you don't have to look at it while riding it. Bizarre looks aside it is an amazingly good riding bike. It is as close as you can get to a 650 class Multistrada. Ironically the very loved Multistrada also had a fugly stacked headlight design around the time the Versys first came out. The Versys is the butterface of motorcycles, not much to look at, but lots of fun to ride.

i am lucky enough to start on the rebel 300 and for what its worth. cheap as heck bike, fantastic starter fun and flickable. but yeah that 300 engine is something you QUICKLY outgrow

Oh my man Yam, they don't sell the Rebel 300 in New Zealand. I'm glad. The Rebel 500 however is pretty good. Not much quicker than a Yamaha MT03/R3. But heaps better brakes, suspension, transmission, and the fit/finish is way more refined. I have both the Honda Rebel 500 and a YZF-R3. I'd still rather ride the R3 though, don't care if it breaks lol.

Versys and similar bikes like the V-Strom are great. They're comfortable and can handle most anything the average rider can throw at them. I'd ride a versys any day of the week over some of the more popular bikes at the moment.

Yep; my MSF course had exactly one Rebel 300 and that's the one I picked to learn to ride on. 100% spot on Yam. I didn't know about the speed wars until Mr Regular briefly talked about it, and I would LOVE a more comprehensive video about it. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

My wife had 2012 one a few years back. It was a nice looking bike but dangerously slow. Pulling out into traffic was a nightmare. Constantly had to ring that thing's neck for it to even come close to getting out of it's own way.

Anyone that has ridden my grom always comes back with a ear to ear smile! If i take out my street triple and park it side by side with the grom, not a soul will pay it any mind, everyone young and old will stop and ask all kinds of questions about the grom though.

Had a grom, it was my first bike. Loved it. So much fun, ripping around the city, but needed something that could ha for highway speeds, so it had to go. But for the year I owned it, it was a lot of fun. I think it’s a great starter bike, if you live in the city. Yes you will grow out of it, but don’t sell it. Hang on to it, because when you do get your dream bike, a Ducati v4, or Aprilia Tuono, or something like that. You won’t want to ride those bikes on a fast trip to the 7-11 for a slurpee, or you won’t want to leave those bikes in a dark movie theater parking lot while you catch a show. You won’t feel bad not letting the little groms engine get up to temperature on those 5 minute quick trips. And that’s why everyone needs a grom, don’t say you don’t have space for it, it’s small AF. Mine had a cup holder on the handle bars. It was wicked, and I miss it.

Hate is a strong word. The Road Glide is soooooooo comfortable, you can't not want to just ride it endlessly down the interstate (though only straight roads, because it doesn't corner that well). IMHO the hate comes from the fact that baggers are just overhyped and overplayed right now. A Harley bagger is the ultimate conformist bike right now, literally the anti-motorcycle.

Just got my permit last weekend and my very first bike the weekend before and it’s the Honda Rebel 300. Only bike I could find where I could flat foot and get comfortable with a bike. I’ve received nothing but compliments on the bike. 🤷🏻‍♂️
