Nothing wrong with staying single if that’s your path to happiness. I was not a dating coach or Matchmaker in the 80s but I have met loads of great people over the last 15 years and seen most of them find their person.

I know that many men are just as lonely as women. I am younger, but I encourage you all to stay positive. Many good men are alone and want someone to love just as much as women do, regardless of what social medial trolls and stereotypes might suggest.

But never hit on a woman while she is trying to work out! It’s a huge issue for many many women. Women should be able to get fit and healthy without being ogled, distracted, harassed or even interrupted. On the way in or out of the gym is your best bet. 👍

@@CoffeewithCarey yes, that's why I stand at the gym door just waiting for their approach, especially with no socks and a trench coat. "Quick, Here She comes...don't look like a stalker. 😮" Forget all that fear nonsense. Just walk up to her and ask if you can get your sets in while she rests between sets (something guys do ask each other). Or Ask her how to adjust a piece of equipment that you know she uses Or Ask her if she has time to spot you, I'm an equal opportunity beggar Or Ask her how you can perform an exercise well while you normally fumble it up. Or Sometimes just an eye meeting nod says something nice that you could follow up on "some other" day. Just be normal. Her answer will be a good indication what kind of girl she is and whether she wants to give you the time of day. Doesn't mean she's now your permanent workout partner. Nobody's hurt, no calls to 911 and we go about our day afterwards. Just be real.

@@MsSilverstar78 Well I’m really sorry about that okay 😒☹️and I know how it feels to be lonely without our love ones, we've all lost our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I understand how you feel but life must move on because death is inevitable no matter how hard we try! And we'll all have to face it someday, and every of our love ones we’ve lost will wanna see us happy anywhere they’re. I lost my oldest daughter Annabel on February 24th 2020 during the lockdown on a car accident, and she just turned 22 on her last birthday before she got knocked down by a moving vehicle 🚗 and so unluckily for me that horrible day the driver was drunk. That was the worst and most lamentable day of my life as a single Dad raising two kid's, my 17 years old son Clark and my 4 legged 🐶 families are my everything and the reason I still keep strong, and keep going! My late wife also passed away 3 years ago from a shocking disease, I felt deeply devastated with grief, and I was so heartbroken 💔 God and time are indeed the best healers. I'd love to talk to you more if you don't mind! So it would be nice to get a reply from you when you got time okay. 🌹🌹

@@richardmcguinn732 👋 hi thank you for your response. I’m not so sad now. Some of my social groups are meeting in person again and it’s nice to be around people. I’m still single/alone and that’s not fun. But I’m having fun doing other things like playing my ukulele, working out at the gym, spending time with family. Still hoping to meet someone special I don’t think I’m supposed to die old and alone. I’ve added a profile to three dating apps. Not much activity there though.

At 53 I found myself a lovely man. Places to meet men: - at the sailing club - country festivals if you want a farmer - at the football game It's a numbers game and these male dominated activities should deliver plenty of options.

M 37. I agree mostly, with the advice of getting out and exposed. Part-time service work jobs are great. Also, volunteering opportunities at food banks, for example. Maybe a local group that is co-ed like yoga, or nature walks. Many more out there, especially in larger cities. Best of luck!

I had a lady approach me while sitting outside a coffee shop, she chatted a bit then asked if I was single. I respected her for that and explained that I was divorced and kinda happy staying that way for now. She asked why I thought men kept rejecting her as she' kept herself in shape' etc and then gave me a quick 'life-story' which I took the time to listen to and then attempted to offer her a couple of helpful, well meaning suggestions. Anyway, same lady walks past me a week later outside a different coffee shop - completely ignores me.! That's not being genuine and authentic just Desperate, that's the wrong vibe ladies.

Because you did't pay her the attention that she expected..you rejected her advances !! Haha!! funny but at least you are not the type to jump at the chance of any woman that makes a move on you!! I understand perfectly from both sides. But it is interesting how she parades herself in front of you to make another attempt just in case you were to change your mind. ! A desperate attempt!!

We men are grateful and even a bit excited and intrigued when a woman approaches us even if we are not available or she doesn't rev our motor. (But then we are far too focused on looks so maybe give someone who does not immediately physically attract us a chance?)

I can only speak for myself but I think my perspective is common. I think there is something dark that has soured our ability to hook up. The narrative these days is pushing multiculturalism, emasculating white men. That's the ugly reality and your attitude towards us is being manipulated against not just us, but is detrimental to you too. It's all about population reduction. That's why they are pushing homosexuality so hard on the mind control box. We normal men are everywhere, and we are lonely too.

Nobody is “pushing” homosexuality. We are just hopefully, becoming a more evolved society and working on accepting all types of people for who they are. So ya lost me there. Normalizing differences. The key here may be to meet people who are different than yourself. Acceptance seems like a very kind act and may I say even godly. Do we only want people who are just like us in the world? I don’t!

I think the hardest part being over 50 and meeting women is not knowing if there married. Unfortunately many married women don’t where there wedding band ( my ex-wife didn’t and she ended having an affair ) that aside I think it’s weird to approach a woman not knowing one way or the other. Sometimes a situation presents itself and it’s easy, but to notice an attractive woman you would like to approach “which I’ve done and asked if she was single” after a short conversation of course and when she informed me she was married I asked why aren’t you wearing you wedding ring so men that find you attractive don’t approach you. You know that’s what a wedding ring is for right ladies? It’s a symbol that you have committed yourself to someone and your off the market. If your doing it for cheap thrills shame on you, because you have deeper issues to deal with. In that case I might suggest the “love and respect” series.

If you are just talking to people all the time when you are out and about you’ll most likely find yourself talking to women you think are attractive. If she ends up being single great- if not it was a nice interaction with somebody whose day you may have brightened. Lots of people don’t wear a ring. For lots of reasons. Some people are committed and are not married. Some people don’t like wearing jewelry. Some peoples rings don’t fit them. Dozens of reasons. I don’t get so hung up on the outward signs if they are speaking to you speak to them if they look interesting to you speak to them. Nothing wrong with asking somebody if they are single.

I have noticed way more married men don’t wear their wedding rings. There might be reasons people take off their ring. For awhile my ring gave me eczema under the ring until I resolved the problem i took it off. My late husband felt it might get caught on things when he was working. He never wore it and I am quite sure he wasn’t looking for an affair.

Grocery store? What are the chances you will encounter someone decent and in your age range in the brief time you are shipping? Unless you are just hanging out in the produce section like a stalker? And I can see striking up brief conversation with someone in the store or in the check-out line, but how does that very brief encounter go to you exchanging contact info? Because without that, you are just 2 strangers going your separate ways. Especially as a man, how do you turn that short conversation into more? I feel most women don’t want guys asking for their number in the grocery store.

Are you asking me about methodology? I’m sure it’s like everyone else I talk to at the grocery store only i would be attracted to them. I suppose I could interview a former client I had. Every weekend he would get three or four phone numbers from the grocery store. He would talk to each woman during the week and one or two would accompany him on a date the following weekend.

I understand it if you are in a place where you are having a longer conversation, but how did your client do that in the one or two minute conversation in a store?

Here's an idea that you probably didn't think of. Meet someone at your very own house like a landscaper for example. He might know your yard just as well as you if not better. Give him some cold drinks, and some food along with a big smile and friendly conversation.

Do restaurants have bars? I saw this woman eating in a local restaurant on her own one Friday night. I was picking up a meal to eat at home. Maybe she had been drinking at the bar (if the restaurant had one). I thought she was very brave. If she kept doing that every Friday night, she's bound to meet someone!

I do like to talk to random people men and women even teens. I Don’t care if they are married, it is just being friendly and maybe a good conversation. Please don’t think I am hitting on you I am just making a congenial connection. Maybe in the conversation it could lead to longer conversation or connection. I am widowed andhave removed my ring, but really, I just enjoy people.

You can also meet older men at car clubs. There are lots of men who own collector cars, and love it when women take an interest in their cars. Or buy one yourself. and join a club. Also the golf course, lots of older men there.

I am approachable and often say something to a man in a grocery store or when on an outing. When there is mutual attraction, Many always mention “my wife”. I’m getting so tired of being embarrassed, yesterday when it happened in a store, I quickly said “my husband likes that too”. Why do men have to nervously mention wives? I don’t ask and feel it unnecessary.

I don't initiate talking to people in the grocery store any more because where I live people aren't friendly, they're suspicious and cynical. Also so many men today are stuck up, they all think they are God's gift and are smug if you show the slightest bit of interest 😂

I'm over 55 years old actually over 56 I want to meet someone but since Covid happened it seems like we were all shut up in a little cage or something. But I before this all happened I was telling myself I'm going to step out and go hang out somewhere and meet some people and hopefully maybe meet a guy or he makes new friends but it got sabotage with this virus. So I hope to begin again I just want some ideas of where I should hang out I like music I play instrument I like art I like Bible studies and I am into photography. I want to learn tango and line dancing. And I like going for walks in nature and the parks and I like to hang out by the lakes and stuff like that. And I also like to go bike riding I just like to enjoy nature I'm big on the outdoors.

Well I’m really sorry about that okay 😒☹️and I know how it feels to be lonely without our love ones, we've all lost our love ones in death one way or the other, either a spouse, child, family members, or a true friend that meant the world to us, such is life I understand how you feel but life must move on because death is inevitable no matter how hard we try! And we'll all have to face it someday, and every of our love ones we’ve lost will wanna see us happy anywhere they’re. I lost my oldest daughter Annabel on February 24th 2020 during the lockdown on a car accident, and she just turned 22 on her last birthday before she got knocked down by a moving vehicle 🚗 and so unluckily for me that horrible day the driver was drunk. That was the worst and most lamentable day of my life as a single Dad raising two kid's, my 17 years old son Clark and my 4 legged 🐶 families are my everything and the reason I still keep strong, and keep going! My late wife also passed away 3 years ago from a shocking disease, I felt deeply devastated with grief, and I was so heartbroken 💔 God and time are indeed the best healers. I'd love to talk to you more if you don't mind! So it would be nice to get a reply from you when you got time okay. 🌹🌹

Hi Rebecca, Tango Argentine is the way to go (Salsa more the the younger folks) Men that are willing to connect and ready to take the risk to embarass themself as TA isn't exactly easy should be on the top of your list really. It's fun to go out on Milongas (social dancing events). Take a class or a private teacher, ask where to go for a Milonga and appear POSITIVE. You will be asked for a dance by mirada/cabeceo and the more you dance the more tangueros you meet. Even if that should not work out, it's a fantastic way to get skilled in socializing. Good luck 2U

This is a 4 yr old post. So, here is a comment from a 51 yo man on Aug. 4, 2024. I stopped dating 2 years ago. I work, gym, eat, sleep & repeat. Ride, camp, hunt, fish. Movies, live bands, pubs & trips. I do them alone. Why? The weman I would meet on dating apps were crazy, mentally ill, looking for free food or broke/broken... Not worth my peace. Also, I don't chase. I don't do the pick-me dance, I don't use the F'boy playbook either. I just do what I like, when I like, how I like. If a woman wants to talk, walk over and talk. Otherwise, you do you booboo. 😊

Massachusetts is the worst.. you go to a meetup group 2 men will show up and there will be 30 woman. The men don't join.. I have join bowling leagues... etc..its very hard I am 55 now still single.. its hard to find single friends to go places with.. everyone is a head case....

Well that stinks. My advice is keep joining different groups until you find one that clicks for you. My very good friend had success in a meet up group that was teaching them salsa dancing and then the second time in the months they would meet where there was a live salsa band playing to practice their new moves. Also he was in a cross country skiing group. He made a lot of friends both male and female in both of those groups. Plus he had a great time in both of them! Make sure you choose groups with activities that you would enjoy whether you meet somebody or not!

I’m not dating at this time, separated, but still married, so not going there. I do find women my age attractive plus, gen X rules. I think being single is a good time to work on yourself. Regardless of the reason you are single, we have places to improve. I desperately need to improve my boundaries. Ladies, as a helpful hint, don’t play games. Interesting that you share this today, Glenn. I had a client last month who swore to me that he was getting very negative reactions from women in public. But also had no real interactions to speak of. We started keeping a diary and really being present and paying close attention in the moment. We decided a lot of it was his own perception and lack of confidence. I hope that perhaps you’ve been misjudging that as well. But only you can know for sure. 🤎

One place you didn't mention is what I call "a church you can stomach" -- if you're "spiritual but not religious" you can still meet some great quality folks in liberal congregations you would find in places such as "Unity", "Unitarians", or "Quakers" also called "Friends Meeting." In these gatherings I've met engaged and intellectual folks who are contributing to solutions to the issues we face in modern times. Shared values are what you might discover in such meetings and while these places are always "women heavy" there is always an opportunity to "get lucky" and meet a fine male human being but it would require patience -- this is not a quick fix solution.

I’m in a location that is extremely rural and family oriented. The only meetups are on line. My friends are not here, no more kids empty nester and unfortunately a difficult area to live. There's NO HOPE of meeting men at any of these suggestions (at least not in the UK) and No.7 is utterly ridiculous because men have no eye contact with strangers and only oggle those women with a banging body, let's be truthful. So where DO they go? The answer is - where THEIR interests are, ie: - Motorbike shows/exhibitions (research a few older bikes online so you can say "My Dad used to have a so-and-so") - Car shows/exhibitions (Ditto - or say "I've always wanted a Lambo" and you'll have them curious about your tastes - Photography shows (buy a very old camera so he will be intrigued by you) - Surfing (or other sports) exhibitions - Football or cricket matches (ask them to explain the offside rule - then pretend to look interested) - At a golf club (this is a BRILLIANT way to find a man particularly if you act all pathetic and ask for help as a novice!!) - At work (yes there's a lot of women there so visit a different department to the one you work in - guys will notice you) - Volunteering. Find a cause close to your heart and volunteer for the charity. Like-minded men will find YOU Hope that helps. Over 60's dating is nigh impossible so chat to your bus driver or the postman or the car mechanic. They may well have become recently separated/divorced and are looking for a lovely person like you.

I would just say make sure that you actually have an interest in some of those special interest events. Those are specific people, and they will be disappointed if you don’t have that specific episode and instead just duped them. “How can you be angry that I’m going to my third motorbike exhibition this month when you literally met me at a bike show ?!”

If you think all my clients live in major metropolitan areas with an abundance of matches you are mistaken. I have many clients who date out of state and often start with virtual dates. One of my current clients in Sioux Falls is happily driving to Minneapolis and Omaha every other weekend for a date.

The biggest problem with the dating scene is the metoo movement who is trying to force men like me to give up because of fear of being accused without any reason. If I was to compliment a woman in a very reasonable way some other person would see it as harassment.

I m amazed how different culture respond to dating and meeting people in the wild . I travel for work years ago and when I move to US and I grow up in Eastern Europe change was pretty big. In the beginning of my stay i could not figure why man look at me , follow me and made looks like there is something interest them beside me ( even they stare on me all the time) , I thought it’s was something working with me 😝😝😝noooo they was just frighten to start conversation with beautiful young women. I say hello to people who say hello to me all the time. Some people seem to be unaware of their “vibe“ so maybe check with a friend to make sure it’s coming off as very casual and friendly and not in any way strange. We as women have to be very careful out in the world so check with a female friend or relative and show her your approach to make sure it’s coming off as intended.

This video came in on my yt feed...title captured my attention so I had to watch it to see where I can be found...lol. I'm a 58 year old (straight) attractive man and wanted to make sure I'm in the right places. I think that the modern age of electronics has taken away a degree of in-person social skills we used to take for granted. People simply aren't used to conversing in person like they used to. Women do not appear eager, or even receptive, to talk to a man in person (in public). And men are tired of being viewed as pervs merely for trying to strike up a simple conversation in the grocery store or gym. If everyone is afraid to talk nobody meets. I think most women that would put themselves out there and be willing to talk, be it initiating the conversation or being receptive to a man's inclination to do so, would be surprised how many men would like to chat it up a bit at least. Looking pleasant is a major positive also. And stop with the dating app profiles that start with, "I'm independent" but it would be nice to have a guy around, etc. It makes a man feel like you need him like a fish needs a bicycle.

I am turning 50 soon. I have no interest in going through the nightmare and chaos that is a relationship with a woman again. I am going to spend my money on myself and go do everything I ever dreamed of doing on my own, under my own terms and rules. Single is so much more peaceful and less expensive.

I’ve never met a woman in a shop or park. Moreover, it’s never a good idea to try and chat up a woman anywhere unless she’s given some indication that she’s interested. And they’re highly unlikely to do that in a shop or park. A bar, some kind of club or work are the main places. So that’s not much use to older people, including the retired.

You’ve never met a woman out and about in the real world? Just going about your day? For some of us, that’s the only way we meet people. This is the problem with people making generalizations. Just because you are not out there talking to strangers does not mean it is unlikely or that women are not receptive to men who do that. In fact, I have clients who purely date based on women they start conversations with in grocery stores.

@@CoffeewithCarey No, I don’t think I ever have. People in the UK don’t generally talk to strangers ! Sadly, it’s viewed with suspicion and people don’t have the time. I’ve been to the US many times though and I know people are more friendly. But that said, I still wouldn’t approach a woman in a grocery store, park or anywhere of that nature unless I had reason to. The chances of her being both single and interested aren’t worth the suspicion and hostility I’d encounter if she wasn’t.

I’m in the Chicago area and I talk to everyone everywhere. I toss off compliments as people pass, strike up conversations in every line I stand in, and have literally not gone out to run errands without having at least a handful of conversations with random strangers. I like this better.

Dog park good idea….my dog is a major chick magnet too. Hiking trails good too. Pretty much wherever I go I have women hitting on me in places I never expect. Young female banker at the bank , cashiers, etc. I have a classic car that really attracts alot of women in their 50’s and younger. I just wish I had more time to take it out.

Met my husband in a bar. Granted he was in a band and I was a cocktail waitress who was also in a band. My second LTR… we met on a dating app. My daughter met her husband on an app too. So that means to follow in my footsteps just pay attention at work, go hear some music at a bar/club, and pick one of the dating apps you can tolerate. ;)

Even older men are shallow AF. I had a friend who was very pushy and unattractive and met probably thousands of men since her divorce 18 years ago. They may be friendly on a superficial level but they are just not interested in getting involved with her. As for my self when I fix myself up and just go about my daily business, I do attract men. Sorry if that’s bragging but it’s the truth. if I didn’t fix myself up as far as appearance goes, they don’t seem to look or approach as much. An acquaintance recently said to me even an old man wants to like what he’s looking at from across the dinner table L O L. She advised that older women need to keep up on their hair as far as cut, color and style, their weight, the way they dress, and use some make up. Sounds shallow, but then again, dating is shallow, and so are men!

I think I’m a little confused. Your friend is pushy and unattractive and we’re surprise that men are not interested in getting involved with her? I don’t think it’s shallow wanting to partner with somebody who is putting in the effort and taking care of themselves. I don’t think age has anything to do with it. Most people, men and women, despite their age, are not going to be attracted to somebody who seems to have given up on looking their best and accepted a slovenly appearance. What other parts of living their best life have they given up on? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am man and i avoid women in there 50s looking for numbers that are semi aggresive. I found that these are wrong choice. Men in 50s not into numbers at all. (We have grown out of that stage) quality not quantity. We have become comfortable with being solo and avoid certain types of women. Nothing worse than a desperate lady looking for numbers in her older years (run).
