Anything with a maple top is worse than even a cheap Asian knockoff like this ~> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZZNdZNuSdWE.html Maple ruins tone, & alnico II pickup magnets sound better than other options 2, & hard frets like stainless sound like jagged trash, so if U R gonna' have 'hard frets' get nylon saddles or something 2 help it sound less like nails on a blackboard LOL Also PRS is an azzhole who wants the white race exterminated.

They are the finest guitars on earth. I've been a fan since I first played one in '87 at a local L.A. guitar shop. I was totally knocked out. I got my first PRS a few years ago and I consider the day I got it to be one of the best days of my life. They are made to be played, and they sound as wonderful as they look. I think the scale length at 25 just makes good sense. I love the design philosophy of Paul Reed Smith himself. He did his own thing and built a better guitar than anyone else. He pays attention to the most finite detail, and his guitars get better and better ever year. I can't say that for any other manufacturer.
@Deathrape2001
@Deathrape2001 2 года назад
All PRS did was combine Fender & Gibson shapes & scale length & give away a bunch of guitars 2 famous players 2 get the name going. There's no magic 2 it, & the fact they use maple tops reveals it's a $cam, because maple ruins tone (but looks nice & gets more money =))

Hey Lucas, what motorcycle helmet in carbon is that in the backround ? What bike do you ride ? I myself ride an Yamaha MT-10 and a KTM 690 Enduro and have a lot of Shark and Icon helmets. And another very different question, if you wanted to make a sleeper guitar, like I want to buy a PRS SE Standard and play music like Iron maiden and Pink floyd that the PRS standard pickups are fully capable of, but I also want to play more extreme metal like maybe Gojira and At The Gates. What passive pickup would you recommend to switch one of the PRS standard pickups for ? Could I switch the PRS bridge pickup for something like the Seymour Duncan Invader or the Dimarzio Super Distortion to play more aggresive metal and then play more standard rock, blues and hard rock on the neck PRS pickup ? Could that work? What is your opinion?

I have about 26 guitars. I try to have ones I like to play because of their feel, ones that sound a certain way ( pickups), or ones that look a certain way. It's a rare combination when you can get all those things in one guitar. I have a PRS McCarty that my wife got me for our 25th anniversary. I would stack it up quality, looks, electronics and playability against any of my other guitars. PRS has a guitar for just about any taste and I would agree with you that the build quality from the private stock all the way to the least expensive SE model is very consistent. Do I want to sell all my other guitars and only on PRS guitars? No. I love all of the guitars and they all speak in a completely different way both to me and for me as I play. Keep doing what you're doing Lucas! God bless and Merry Christmas 🎄🎸😎

U don't need a bunch of guitars, just 1 that sounds the best, & get rid of the others =) If U R playing totally different styles like 'country vs. metal' or 'surf vs jazz' or something then yeah, maybe U need more than 1 guitar LOL Since I like heavy distortion a smooth sounding guitar is best, like all mahogany set neck construction & alnico II pickkup magnets =) Pao ferro would be better for fingerboard but Rosewood is a close second. Ebony is only OK for fretless bass, but still worse than pao ferro with a hardwood body. If the body is relatively soft both pao ferro & rosewood sound like $hit, & need ebony.

I guess it is sort of hard to communicate through a microphone, but you can definitely *feel* the resonance of a good guitar when you play it unplugged.
@Deathrape2001
@Deathrape2001 2 года назад
@@LucasFowler Lighter 'more resonant' guitars lose more energy, which is Y U hear more of the sound in the air. A 'dead' guitar might not B bad at all, if your goal is 2 have a deeper more throaty 'dark' sound rather than a 'chimey bell-like' one. Long ago I went through a bunch of Dean EVO-7 string Les Paul copy type guitars, & every 1 sounded different, & I kept the best one. It was 'chimey' sounding, but the pickups 2 'honky' (like all the rest). The 'Chunk' sounds with a maple top can be really nice, but overal anything with maple sux compared 2 all mahogany set neck construction, for 'guitar' frequencies. This is about the best you can do with a maple top = chunk-wise 'chug chug' =) ~> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YFh51Ft8x60.html

Of all the brands I've played and owned since the early 90s, Kiesel and PRS take the cake. For this guitarist it comes down to tuning stability, neck stability, tonal variety from one guitar, sustain, build quality, and playability. Other brands are great at a few of these things, but PRS and Kiesel seem to excel at all of them. If I had to choose between the two, PRS would win. My CE24 can sound like bells. Never heard another guitar do that.

Fender Tele and Fender Strat...# 5. Gibson S-1 #6. My Dads 52 Les Paul which I hated...#7. And the fastest Guitar was an old 1965..? Mosrite it was so fast that I got a little sloppy on it...#8. IVY 300 semi-hollow body ( Tele style ) with humbuckers...always wanted a 1972...Never could afford it...The Firebrand and Firebird I played the most...I think for the most part the Gibson guitars were not that easy to play...but always had great tone...I am very surprised by the IVY...Very nice guitar...sound is kind of cheap...but very nice playing guitar...Thanks for the video..!

Gibson is literal trash, but the price is high because people R willing 2 pay for the 'idea' that it will sound similar 2 their favorite artists, who ALSO played literal TRASH, because it was 'all that was around' choice-wise, & want 2 feel 'up there' with other players of literal TRASH =)) Those need something a bit more reliable & stuff get them done custom, & slap a Gib$on logo on it, like 'Slash' LOL

My DGT, Mira, Vela, Starla and SC245 all have pretty thick necks. The radius on almost all PRS's is 10", which isn't as flat as Gibson. I would try something with the Wide/Fat neck carve, or what they call Pattern-Regular.

@@LucasFowler That seems to be the case. My problem with the Am Std as well as the Jeff Beck model is that the knife edge is not precise enough and seems to move against the post when I'm trying to bend down or up to a specific pitch using the bar. Floyd Rose bridges are more precise but feel quite different. The 6 points are solid as a rock. Also, It seems the lawyers and doctors have started buying all the valuable vintage guitars. I personally wouldn't mind a lawyer or a doctor who is savvy enough about gear to buy a PRS.

If Paul started in 1970 and say some players like Randy Rhoads or a young Santana used them, they’d be accepted more by the guys in my generation (the over 50 guys). The other turn off for many is that PRS chases perfection and rock music is Anti-perfection. It’s doesn’t fit the philosophy. I have a McCarty 594 Core and it’s my go to for fusion and jazz stuff. There is a certain mojo it doesn’t have but there is a certain mojo it does have. I also don’t get the ‘Lawyer’ guitar stuff. Gibsons aren’t cheap, especially custom shop ones and they don’t get that label. And PRS blows those away for the reasons you mention in this video.

I already liked even before to watch the video because I couldn’t agree more that PRS is the best IMHO. I would add one more reason: 8- Value Regardless if it’s a SE, a S2, a Core or even a Private Stock, each PRS is worth its price tag. I know, there’s always the law of diminish returns with higher models, but they’re still worth; it’s hard to believe, but it’s true. I had the chance to work in studio with multiple core and private stock, I own myself a core and a SE and they’re all great guitar for their price, and they hold value in the way that it’s very rare to find people that resell their PRS, because they generally like them and keep them. In Europe, the resell price could often be close to the original price, contrary to some brands that lose value even faster than cars or electronics. I have a PRS Brent Masson, a HSH 25 ¼” scale Bolt on neck, 5 way blade with 2 toggle switches; you can’t find it anymore, it’s very rare and I could easily resell it for more money that I paid for… but I will never sell it, it’s my main guitar :)

My strat is because sometimes I want a strat tone for recording(and I don't have a Silver Sky...*yet*) I have an Eastwood Messenger because I'm a diehard Mark Farner/Grand Funk fan.
