I demonstrate step-by-step a simple way to zero an air rifle to your chosen range. Buy me a coffee to support the channel. www.buymeacoffee.com/hftshooterC #airgun #airguns #airgunshooting #airrifles #airrifleshooting
This is the best vid on zeroing the scope I have seen. Starting shooting at age 79 am I mad, maybe but as I now live in Norfolk you know what they say. Thanks very much
Its good practise to centralise the cross hairs first before zeroing a scope. Count the full range of clicks with the windage and elevation turrets and set them both half way through their clicks.
Why would you say that was 'good practise'? It doesn't make sense to move the reticle first to a notional point and then move it again to your zero point. Why not just move it straight to the zero point? Further, moving your turrets to the extremes of their range just to find the centre point can damage the mechanism if you take them too far!
@@tektoms Hi, I just checked the manual for my Hawke Airmax Touch and can't find any reference to it there. But think about it. The reticle is etched onto the centre of the lense. You first spend time adjusting the turrets to centralise the crosshairs if they're not already central, then you spend time readjusting the turrets to move the crosshairs to where your scope is zeroed. What's the point of the first step? You might as well save time and adjust straight to zero. the reticle will end up in the same position either way!
New to this shooting game only got a basic set up yet Remington pest controller with fibre optic sights I tried the cross on paper and it was very enlightening and spoken so simply I under stood every word I will follow you avidly now young feller your shooting and grouping is bloody amazing. More simple stuff for me please
I'm new to this also and to have someone explain windage and elevation in layman's terms has been a terrific help to zero in my new HW100KT with a Wulf lightening scope. Thank you👍
A very simple way of zeroing a scope, just had to refit mine to my s410 so will be doing it this way when i check it tomorrow. Thanks for the video fella, i’ll be keeping an eye on you 👍
Thanks for a very informative video on zeroing a scope. I am going to try your way when next at the range as it seems like a much more simple way of doing it. Thanks again and please keep the videos coming. 👍👍👍
Im pretty new to shooting just over a year at my club. Thanks for sharing your tips i will be using them going forward and hopefully give me the confidence to take part in our hft competition 👍
@@ronknox8562 thanks for clarifying. I wasn't entirely sure what you meant, lol. My village sits between Duxford and the US bases at Mildenhall and Lakenheath, so we get over flights all the time. An aircraft spotter's paradise. 😀
very nice show of how to zero your gun and i think the best way to do it myself. work on one at a time the finish up with groups and a fine tune much less confusing than trying to go up 2 clicks then across 2 clicks then back down 1 click 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hello, Firstly great video. Explained exactly what I was looking for. Just need to put this in practice. I couldn’t help but over hear you say the “Mildenhall Jet”. I currently live in Barton Mills and was wondering if you have or know of any local clubs for a beginner in the sport? Thanks
My club Cambridge HFT near Shepreth, Cambs is probably your nearest and welcomes all levels. Further away you have Longwater air target club at Sculthorpe, Norfolk or Springfield ARC near Ongar, Essex. hope that helps?
First thing I do is use a plum line to be sure the vertical is true… Surprised you haven’t addressed the issues of “can’t” due to the height of the scope relative to the barrel 🤔 Personally I favour “point blank zero” for range work…
Great video Thanks. +1 Sub. Going to check your older content, have you done anything regarding teaching someone totally new to shooting about eye relief and setting the correct scope position. Really struggling to get them to keep their eyes closed and find that comfortable position before we get the best eye relief but they change head position every time they try, keep opening their eyes to move their head even if it means stretching way forwards or trying to get their eyes behind the stock. It's a bullpup whether that makes matters worse or not? Thanks.
The only experience I have of that is with my grandson. Trying to explain to him what he should be looking at and seeing I found very frustrating not being able to look through the ocular at the same time. I started a video on 'gun fit' a while back but never got it finished. I guess that would cover some of it.
@@hftshooter Thank's I will search your older content. It's rather frustrating when you say get comfortable and they are cranking their necks to see through the scope making themselves fit rather than adjust everything to fit them and finding they are in a different position each time. When the eye relief is 3" and they are 0.5" away I know thats not right. Would the rubber optimized/extenders help with and without glasses? Thank you again.
Hi Arthur, as it's easier to leave your iron sights zeroed at one range, you need to determine your aim points for targets at other ranges. As your pellet will still be on an upward trajectory at 12yards you will probably hit high so would need to aim a little below the 12 yard target to hit it. Hope that helps? My next video covers how to determine aim points.
From what I remember from my physics lessons, cold air is denser, meaning lower pellet speed, quicker deceleration and thus a greater POI drop. At least I think that's right.
Don't worry about Buzz. I always have an eye on him and he never wanders in front of the firing line. Most of the time if I'm shooting he goes inside because he's not getting my attention.
Seems just trial n guestimation to me, using a rifle work stand level the rifle there pretty secure remove scope caps shoot at targets centre, without moving the rifle adjust cosshairs to the first pellet strike, =zeroed
No, it shouldn't. Check out the new video I released today and you'll see me using the same process with an underlever springer that I have to move to reload. 🙂👍
Full apologies. Where do I start. On the “table” you arm is too low it needs to be raised which is why you don’t want to use this. Take your glasses off as eye relief will change the accuracy of you round, hence you were inaccurate. Look. I’m not going on. Great video but your knowledge with ballistic understanding is poor. That’s the trouble with police training, you become so critical. Great video. Kind kind regards.
