On the the line of salt, its actually in the quest where you defeat the elemental in the cellar from earlier in the video. It's on the stairs leading to cellar from the ground floor. Geralt remarks how it's 'pointless superstition' (or something to that effect). He would probably tell the baron to do it too because people obviously believe it and it would keep people out of the way for the duration of the quest. Also for the price setting in the contracts, it's randomised, it might be chance he allowed you to push for a higher price on your Griffin try, but to be honest I haven't tested
@FrozenShadow007

It might make sense that the line of salt would be useless against physical monsters, mostly affecting wraiths. Geralt having prior information about the monster, he might’ve known that it couldn’t’ve been a wraith, thus the comment.
@janjezewski1205

But in " Equine Phantom" alternate ending Geralt also advice hermit to draw a line of salt, saying "Might keep him out". So it may work - just for a specific type of ghost.

@@FrozenShadow007 except he comments that it's "pointless superstition" based on the house's owners point of view, being uninformed about the specific monster, to the owner it might have been a ghost, it just doesn't make sense (at least not the way geralt phrases it) to call it that knowing there are cases that this works. Also by the time this comment happens, geralt has absolutely no idea that it's an elemental.

Did you know that if you choose to kill the dopler instead of sparing him, he will chase you forever. Even if you go all the way across the map. Sometimes he gets killed by guards because some of them will fight him on his way out of the city. You can fast travel far away and he will still chase you. You can see the quest distance going down constantly. If you go skellige, he will wait for you to get back to velen/novigrad and then start the chase again. He will never stop unless you kill him or he gets killed by guards

I think the detail about the School of the Griffin has to do with the reputation it has. Out of all the schools, it is said the the School of the Griffin is the most respectable one, as their members mantained the original witchers knightly values, and were educated in things like etiquette.
@crabrave729
@crabrave729 2 года назад
And griffin witchers may be more common in Redania, cos Caer Morhen locates in I believe Blue mountains( its in Caedven, and very far away from Redania), and griffin’s home castle somewhere along coastline( opposite part of the map, and not Caedven), so griffins could be considered not as potential traitors, spies etc(like wiper Witchers after emperor took them under control and used to kill kings of northern realms) from Caedven( Redania and Caedven has a lot of tension between each other)

@@Ivanus59 yes, I meant that witcher so far away from his basically home, which is located on opponent’s territory, after experience with kings layers may cause some suspicion, Kovir and Poviss usually keep neutrality so this could draw away any suspicions from Redanian elites, politicians ( those who could known what vipers did by order of nilfgaard). Or I’m hallucinating.
@oqumaQu
@oqumaQu 2 года назад
After watching that part I immediately thought of Coën. You know, the witcher who trained Ciri at Kaer Morhen with the rest of the gang in the book, Blood of Elves. Coën belongs to the School of the Griffin. Maby Geralt chose School of the Griffin out of all other schools since he had close relations to it, not only by it's reputation.
@crabrave729
@crabrave729 2 года назад
@@oqumaQu may be, but i think, when You tell you are a griffin, its not because you are showing respect but because you lie. Geralt doesn't look like cat witcher so no problems of proving you are not crazy, no such problems with bear witchers, so i think he lies perpouosly, but why ? And Coën may be the reason he chose scholl off griffin, for sure.

Great idea on Yontek. Geralt is also a source child, Eskel was suspected to be one too. My thought was he might have been a Druidic apprentice or a mage student before the outlaws/band on magic. Surviving a massacre like that makes anyone a little screwy

Oh that is a nice detail!! I never knew that about Yontek :). His portrayal is also a typical 'village idiot' that often appears in various rural stories and the like, fairy tales as well, and with the witcher lore on the subject of these mentally affected children with inherited power it fits very well!! Indeed it might explain his state and as was said source children when not taken care of with their magical talents may become unstable mentally, his abilities maybe were not nearly as strong and so he was overlooked by the mages and considering that such abilities may also pass down the line generations later. In the lore we have apparently many degrees of magical talent, some people may have the minimum of abilities, some don't have them at all.
@efaristi9737
@efaristi9737 2 года назад
Not every magician are sources, a attunement to magic is necessary to become one but a source has more than that. Every witchers have a attunement to magic because the Signs require a aptitude with it so they can work. A ordinary human with no magic affinity would be unable to make any signs. Yontek don't need to be a mage student: the childrens of wizards often inherite a more potent affinity with magic than their parents and that power is what fry their brains. Yontek is lucky, he isn't a vegetable.

The salt line is in the same quest as you mentioned with the Earth Elemental and the ''Rivian Tramp'' Guy. It's right before Geralt goes down the stairs. There's a line of salt and he comments something like ''It's useless.''
@dorotasokolowska2941
@dorotasokolowska2941 2 года назад
I've always took Geralt's line of salt demand in the Baron's quest as an example of Granny Weatherwax's headology - it's not supposed to work on wraiths or botchlings, it's supposed to work on humans and keep them in their houses. If you just tell them to stay at home they may ignore that order, but with the salt - oh, now it's serious business. And Yontek is almost certainly an untrained sorcerer/mage, probably a child of a magic user. It's not known if Tissaia's ideas were ever implemented - I think they weren't because during the Lodge summit in the books they use the age argument against putting one of the members of the Lodge on Kovir's throne, not that they are all infertile due to sterilization.

The thing about the line of salt is actually in one of the quests you mentioned earlier in the video. The one with the golem in the cellar. Before you go into the cellar to kill the golem, you can see a line of salt on top of the cellar stairs and with the Witcher senses you can trigger a monologue from Geralt about it if i recall correctly. I went straight to Quinto, bargained for him and then immediately accepted him for the job, I did this without even contemplating Casimir. Considering that Eveline's location is somewhat close to where Casimir lives (Alness) I went to have a look to see if you could interact with him and sure enough you could, well kind of. His hut was blown to pieces and a few villagers stood around it, I guess he couldn't hack it. Its another really small really cool detail from CDPR which makes the world feel alive and lived in.

20:45 As far as i know haggling is random-during the Wine-Wars Quest Series in B&W you can sometimes haggle both of the Questgivers there to pay you up to 900 (rare) or at least 850 (still somewhat rare). To confirm or deny, one would probably need to haggle with the Count for a 100xTimes or so choosing each of the 3 Answers (Wolf, Cat, Griffin) and see how often you can get the higher reward or how it changes. Choosing another Answer could have a slightly different chance but again, might be worth it to play around with that for a little bit! Other than that, great video as always-good job & thank you! 👍 ps: I'd say that Therazane is almost 100% from WoW, its not from somewhere else afaik ^-^

maybe the salt thing in the botchling quest is the reference to the Supernatural TV show. P.S. The quest with the support beams with the elemental, I think you need to count in the third support scaffolding at the entrance to the chamber. you can see it at 14:13 in your video on the right. in my play-through I broke the ones inside but quest giver is still alive and well.

I think the Foot Casting bit from the books is also a card in Gwent called Casting Contest. Has an animated bit of a guy casting a spell with his foot and another with boy casting a spell with his (for a lack of better words) wand.

I think the part you're referring to, about dismissing the line of salt, was about vampires... I remember something along the lines of vampires not being afraid of garlic. I believe something like that was in the books as well

17:08 Yess! I remember about salt lines in a different quest! The quest was named "Doors Slamming Shut" it's weird that you didn't remember because in this video you mention the exact quest. And yes, there is a contradiction. In the main Baron quest Geralt says to make a line of salt and in the side quest he says it is useless.

The detail about extra dialogue with the Earldoman in Downwarren can be unlocked even if you free the spirit. You just have to return there before finishing the Baron questline, and after seeing the crones, since the village won’t be destroyed yet.

regarding the botchling quest, i think geralt may still sway the baron to put lines of salt outside peoples doors regardless of his beliefs or if it were a common practice in blood summoning among witcher training, so my thoughts would be despite his beliefs of drawing salt works or not he probably told the baron to do so because of necessity or he could end up changing his mind after the botchling quest or it could be an oversight by the dev team

It is quite possible the "Line of salt" thing only works against specific creatures. Same way bringing Black Blood to anything but a vampire fight is pointless. It could even be to limit the movement of the Botchling - the creature might have tried to run away and hide in a house, by breaking through the doors. But might be deterred by a line of salt and windows height. Maybe Botchlings just _really_ hate the smell of salt? Or at least the young ones? But it being usefull to keep the people inside (and thus out of the combat zone) is also a good approach.

Don't know whether you've found this detail before but if you use axii instead of the pellars bell to summon princess (his goat), Geralt has some unique dialogue.

Hi! Love your videos! I can't remember if you've covered this in your many hidden details videos. In the quest "the great escape" where you have to break into the Oxenfurt prison to rescue Margarita Laux-Antile, there is a list of prisoners on the warden's desk. On it is "Undomiel, an elven witch from the forests", which is a reference to Arwen Undomiel from LOTR. I thought this was pretty cool and I hadn't caught it in previous playthroughs since I always alert the guards and the warden comes to me...Is there ever a way to sneak through this place?!

I've seen a thing. When you bring Triss to Caleb Menge's garrison to ask him about Dandelion, leave Triss to be tortured and scream only once, and then refuse to continue and kill everyone. There is a line available at Triss house after a while about her finger nails, when you choose "How do you feel?". I think before her sidequest. Interesting follow-ups!

Thanks for another Witcher video! Didn't know that those pigs (in Yondek's quest) could actually be killed. Yennefer VA voicing as Iron Maiden saying "What is she to ya, this sorceress Yennefer" does make me chuckle a bit, heh.

Hey Letalis, I’m not sure you have found out about this dialogue already but if you slow down at the part where Bastien is (dog quest) during the first time you ride a horse with Vesemir in WO, a new dialogue between Geralt and Vesemir shows up. It blew me away the first time I’ve heard it, since I played like more than 20+ playthroughs of this game already and just finding out about this thing that happens at the start of the game

Indeed, the line of salt remark is from that quest with the "collapsable celler", but i do not know if its inguards against Wraiths .. cause thats what hes originally inverstergating - A haunted house. Where as Botchlings might be an entire different story when it comes to warding off them. Who knows.

Pretty sure you can put the Hierarch Hemelfart portrait in the save chest before you give it to Dandelion, that way he hangs it in the Chameleon/Rosemary and Thyme but you can also hang it in your villa in Toussaint (Wineboys dlc) later.

Hey Letalis i maybe found something for you. its an dialouge from lambert where he asks geralt where he got the enchantment abilities of the serikanian rune smith. you need the enchantment where one of your armor pieces reflect half the damage by 30% chance. It was the questline where you go to the boat with lambert and encounter the harpies. i cant really describe it good i play it on german xDD hope this is something new and hope u read my comment love ur content and all ur vids

Theres something i found out on a random video on tik tok, apparently during the feast at Vegelbud Palace on one of the tables there's a wine named after Dijkstra, which according to the witcher lore, had terrible taste and was served to redanian prisoners at Dijkstra's personal request. Either CD project red made quite a blunder or Vegelbuds are up to something.
