I've had epilepsy (partial seizures) since age 22. I also am a retired Internal Medicine physician.....I retired at age 46 because of my memory decreasing, and seizures got worse due to long hours at work and anxiety. Now I am 64. I've always exercised my entire life, and my epilepsy specialist said that helps me a ton. Most people, even doctors, don't understand the side effects of the meds, how memory is severely impaired, etc. Dr. Danoun, you are an amazing teacher.....this is a great learning article!!! ALL SEIZURE PATIENTS SHOULD READ THIS!!!! Thanks again!!

I'm 28 now my seizures began a few years ago at age 24, it's been very difficult keeping work in my life, I go above and beyond my bosses expectations and I've always put all of my care into my work, but my seizures that happen every month make it impossible to keep a solid job to keep my life comfortable and in this economy eventually I get let go from my jobs because of my epilepsy it's getting difficult but I'm staying strong, I'm doing everything I can to put a stop to my seizures, I've gotten sober, I take care of my health a lot more, the seizures stopped for a year while working a construction job but returned, I was feeling hope of being free of my seizures but now I'm back to believing this is a life long challenge I must deal with. @@Greencloud8 Mine began after my first neck surgery I had to get half of my thyroid removed because of cancer, then it got fully removed from my neck a second surgery 2 years later, I quit drinking alcohol because I noticed it made the seizures much more frequent and I became hospitalized a few times, I'm now taking Levetiracetam and have started taking Lamotrigine this week because the last seizure I had on the 7th put me in a weird mental state so I'm hoping I can continue to work thru this my doctor has told me he has hopes for me to be seizure free but he told me to be patient, so now I'm staying strong and patient and researching in my spare time

I've had seizures for almost 20 years. I've forgotten my Spanish, math, and I need to use auto correct because I forgot how to spell a lot of words. My speech is getting worse and when I talk I have to stop sometimes and think of how to put my words together. I have to use alarms for my meds and write a lot down so I won't forget. I wouldn't wish this on anyone 😔

I've had epilepsy since I was 17, I'm 44 now. The best advice is to keep a journal. Doing it daily is such a big help for me and also for my Dr.

I agree.! I put all of the things that I am going to do on my iPhone. I check it every morning and during the day, and night before I fall asleep. That acts as my journal and my calendar! Because I carry it in my pocket at all times I put all important issues at the time they happen. Basically, my iPhone is my brain!!

Thanks for sharing Dr. Omar. After I had back to back seizures (tonic clonic) I started suffering from memory loss (at least what I thought it was). I discussed it with my doctor as it started to impact my job (data analyst) and we decided to go through neurophysiological test. The result was attention deficit disorder and not memory loss. Now I wright everything down and I try to create a routine (for where to put stuff like car keys, wallet,….). I always find myself asking people for their names twice or even three times within the same conversation, this is who I am and it doesn’t bother me anymore 😁.

Abdullah, I'm in the same memory boat as you. I just wanted to suggest something that has helped me. It might help you, too. I repeat people's names and things I'm trying to remember . In other words. When they say something important to remember, I try to incorporate it back into the conversation. Whenever it's a new person,introducing themselves, I might say. It's very nice to meet you, Abdullah. I'm Effie. Not just it's nice to meet you, too. Before I reply back. I find that it's very helpful. The act of saying it helps my brain. At least regarding this topic.

I'm 26 and I have had generalized epilepsy since I was 10. In my 20s I started to develop memory loss and difficulty speaking. I thought I was having dementia but my doctor told me memory loss is normal for people with epilepsy. Normal or not it's still super annoying though. e Especially considering as a kid I had a great memory.

I had a meningioma tumor for years but didn’t know- temporal and frontal lobe. My memory was a problem before I knew about the tumor. It’s an issue. Didn’t have seizures until after the surgery- months after radiation. It’s a problem but I am thankful to be alive.

Me too! It was a few months after the surgery, and they had done radiation to lessen the chances of any regrowth. The seizures are aware but they are really starting to reek havoc on my memory and thought process for a couple of weeks after. They are also so exhausting.

Thanks for the video. I've had epilepsy nearly my whole life. After getting diagnosed and put on seizure medication at age 11, I developed a learning disability. My parents and siblings are all brilliant people, so I've always felt like the black sheep of the family. My condition isn't as bad as others, and its under control. Before I moved to Japan, I was taking 500mgs of Lamicatal, but my new neurologist told me that I don't need to take that much. First, he lowered it to 400mgs. Then after a year, he lowered it to 300mgs. Much of my brain fog cleared, and my memory felt stronger than ever. However, I still struggle with remembering daily tasks and responsibilities. Learning to speak Japanese has been a challenge.

Same here. I also take 500mg Lamicatal and have problem with studying. I think the med made my condition worse. Please please tell me, which medication you use now. 🙏🏼 I could speak with my neurologist about that.

Topamax gave me the worst memory problesu I take 500 lamictal a day and I really don’t have any side affects

I feel basically like i'm a 10 yrs old. I forget everything after 15 minutes. I feel very very sensible and whiny. I sound like i'm 10 yrs old. At least i look young then is it not so bad.

Thank you so much Dr. Omar. My Temporal Lobe Epilepsy is the result of an infection that went from my left inner ear to my Temporal Lobe. It was a large abbess that was inoperable and required two months of IV antibiotics at home. It left me with a large infarction and Epilepsy. Like you, my Neurologist deals only with Epilepsy and other seizure disorders, and he has been a Godsend. My memory disorders mimic early Dementia, and I was scared to death that I had Dementia along with the Epilepsy. My Dr. assured me that my difficulties were Epilepsy and nothing else. It was the most important Dr.,s appointment I ever had. This video confirmed beautifully the things that I experience and exactly why. I look forward to every video! My Dr. told me early on that before long, I would know more about Epilepsy than most physicians. I’m thinking he’s right. Thanks again, Dr. Omar!👍

Had my first seizure when I was 18. Took medication for about 10 yrs then completely stopped taking any meds. I am 43 yo now and have not had any epileptic seizure for more than a decade. However, I still struggle with memory loss and could not remember most of my memories growing up, in school, and even while I was working. Will start to write on my journal starting now, this is just one way to at least recall some of the events happening now that I might not remember at all in the future.

God yes. I have to have no sound when I am trying to learn anything. Sometimes it takes me awhile to recall. I have been an epileptic for a year and a half from TBI. I have been trying to finish my masters and am frustrated beyond your imagination. From your videos I have learned a lot more than the specialist and gp have taught me. Thank you

My goodness Dr. Danoun - this video has so many similarities to what I am going through. I have had focal epilepsy (left temporal lobe) since I was 10 years old and I am now 61. I have been prescribed numerous seizure medications over the years and I have occasional seizures, but not tonic-clinic. I just had the L.I.T.T. Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL in November 2022. I am very concerned because I am having difficulty with memory, but the Epileptologist team have told me (even prior to the Sx) that it will take any where from 6 months to 1 year for the brain function to fully heal and for things to be back to “normal”. I have not had a seizure in the past 4 months, but I did have a strong aura last month which is typical for me. I just hope that doesn’t reduce my chances of being seizure free. I am actually having an 8 hour Neuropsychological Assessment in a few weeks for post Sx testing, which is the same test I had prior to the Sx. I will also have a post test Brain Imaging MRI. I am writing because this particular video (I learn from all your videos) is so much like what I am going through, and I am presently concerned about my faulty memory (and heightened anxiety after the Sx) and I want to hear as much as possible about every single thing I can do to strengthen my memory which includes forgetting advanced words when I am talking and forgetting the advanced words I used to know (prior to Sx) when I am reading. I look things up on a regular basis and write them down as that seems to help. Thank You so much for your helpful and extensive information about epilepsy ❤

I also had the brain surgery for my partial seizures, (at age 26), and it stopped the seizures for 9 months, and they slowly came back. Don't give up!! Dr. Omar D. has written a great article here, and I am doing everything his article included. Even at age 64 now, the seizures are still there every 3 weeks, but it seems that my memory loss is somewhat more slowing down, but don't give up!! Best of luck. I hope that new artificial intelligence might be developed with brain implants .....you never know. Good luck again!

Thank you for this, before my diagnosis last month, I did not realize why my memory was getting bad, I told a doctor, who prescribed magnesium glycinate supplements, which I found out I am severely allergic to. This video has made me realize how I've been working around this unconsciously through making to do lists and ticking off what I have accomplished as well as printing out a calendar where I write down activities, bdays or even other upcoming things and deadlines.😅

Since I had my first seizure 3 years ago, I have memory loss, sometimes I struggle to find words (it was really bad, but a bit better now, but I'm still struggling at times). I forget people's names, people who died, places, etc. I have cried over people who died, which I forgot, so many times the last few years. My biggest shock was some of my favourite musicians and the most recent celebrity I grieved was Heath Ledger. When we go to town and I see people, I'd ask about their family members (who I forgot passed away) and then they're upset and I'm very upset (to hear the news plus the embarrassment I caused). It's very frustrating. I'm still undiagnosed, the doctors don't think it's epilepsy, but they still don't know what it is.

I'm wondering if I could ask you a question? You mentioned your first seizure 3 years ago....have you had others since? May I ask what kind of seizure you had? My husband had a Grand Mal out of nowhere and we don't know why. The neurologist put him on Keppra 1000mg a day while we wait for the MRI and EEG. Doctor thinks my husband has been having focal seizures for some time and didn't know it until it became a Grand Mal. We both don't agree with him but we want to wait until we get the testing done. He's only had one seizure that we know of and after that Grand Mal his memory is very affected. It's very scary. I hope you're doing well and they've figured out what's causing yours🙏🩵🩷

Of course you can ask. I had 2 Grand Mal seizures in one day. First around 4pm (16h00) and the next one that same night at around 3am (03h00) - sort of the next day, but within 11 hours apart. I've had absent seizures a lot, had a few yesterday (afterwards I pass out and sleep). I've had about 8 Grand Mal seizures in the last 3 years (after the first 2). So about 10 in total. I've had my MRI done in December, so am diagnosed now. I'm seeing another neurologist in May (first available opening) in another city. She's renowned, so I hope we can get me on the right medication and help. I've been to soooo many doctors and neurologists in this almost 4 years, I can't keep track. The last neurologist treated me for neuralgia with Lyrica (Pregambelin) and that made it worse. 3 days I have no memory of. I'm on Epitec now (Lamotrogine) and it has had the Grand Mal's under control for the past 4 months or so, but the absent seizures are daily.

I've had meningitis as a child (6 years old) and we think it is related in some way perhaps. My parents and sister was looking back and talking about it 2 weeks ago and they say I may have had epilepsy longer than we originally thought. We only thought it started with the Grand Mal in 2020. I think that just made us aware of my condition. I had a car accident in 2012 in town, which has upset me a lot as I'm a racer and been driving since I could look over the steering wheel (I was 5 when I was taught to drive). Anyway, looking back now, I can't remember what initially happened, I can recall when the vehicle started spinning around and then rolling on it's roof. They suspect I had at least a type of absent seizure there, because it was a straight road, in the speed limit of the city (luckily no other cars or people involved). So it's really weird. Plus throughout the years I had moments where I fell, for no reason, a lot of stuff I just can't remember. One time when we lived in New Zealand (for a couple years) my Sister and I was travelling on the highway, I was driving. Next what I remember is that we were standing in front of KFC, I asked her "what are we doing here, are we hungry". She said I was feeling unwell and I turned off the highway to the nearest place (KFC) and stopped the car. I had no memory of it. It was very weird at the time. Luckily I didn't lose consciousness on the highway!! But there's a lot of these small "incidents" that we just said oh it must be stress, low sugar, etc. In actuality, we think they were absent seizures...

My memory is severely affected. Also I struggled to learn in school. I just couldn't study. I paid attention in class and went on "general knowledge" through school. I was great at math, economics, auditing, etc, because I understood it, but things like history I had trouble with remembering and other subjects where you have to go on information, repetition, etc. I can write a sentence a 100 times over and still not know what I've just written!!

Dear Dr Omar,, I as a dutchy with epileptic have epilepsy since 4 year old,, I left ndl myself with 10 dollar when 18 year old and said lets go to NZ and take on a life challenge and from NZ use the bicycle and take my entire life to cycle around the world and show myself that I can be a great example of the endless opportunities we can take on and show not to spend a second of time on fear,or negativity or hate or all pointless thoughts ,, and guess what now I'm in HK running a international educational platform business, aswell inart, wood work and biology after achieved a PhD in Sydney university in biology and financial law,,. Yes the info is stored in my brain except I cannot access it right away. I must be reminded. This confirms my thoughts after my seizure. Temporal Lobe client. I know it's my hippocampus being effected. Also having issue with speech. I want to say it. Except I'm studdering. It's effecting my whole day. Depression, PTSD ugh. dont get me started. Thank you.

To date, I have undergone 7 neurological procedures due to a very large posterior fossa cyst and I have a VP Shunt in place. I have always had a dire memory. My short term memory is in a poor state, yet my long term memory is pretty good, ie I can’t remember what I did an hour ago and, yet, I have a pretty clear memory of things that happened when I was a child.

i know this is an older video now but i have tonic clonics every 6 weeks roughly. I wake from a seizure and usually only know i had one due to my surroundings or someone telling me. The seizures wipe alot of memories that are close in time with it. To help my memory i play sudoku and other brain games that require using memory. Meditation and clearing my mind is the best healer for me. Recalling words and memories is for sure the hardest part for me. I have noticed though since my epilpesy started (in 2020) I have more ability to recall childhood memories and much more vividly than before. My mom use to be baffled when i told her i hardly remembered elementary school before i ever had a seizure, but now i can remember the whole school layout, the play ground, recall specific memories that felt like huge impacts in the moment but faded away fast in adulthood

I have memory issues like you said finding words, reading words which are not there, making linguisitic mistakes, not remembering places or people. I experienced lately that I went to visit my doctor and I knew that I have been to that places before but this time it felt like i have never been before. Even I didn't remember my doctors face. What I do in order to remember is to write notes on my phone and any behavioral change. For example I had seizures and my seizures which are mostly during sleep so this time when it happened people started to look similar to each other. I was unable to differentiate. It felt like I know them from somewhere and it was scary and emotional . I also had personality shift for example I somehow build a new interest in math and language. My epilepsy as its recently Discovered so I just started medication but there is another issue. I have osteoporosis and got spinal surgery due to multiple fractures that put me on usage of oxycodone for the past 3 years. I think that medication which I have stopped using couple of weeks ago influenced not my behavioral change but worsen my epileptic stage.

Hello Doctor, thanks for your videos. I had my first tonic clonic seizure last year at 25 years old. It is apparently because of an insular section of my temporal lobe. Thankfully after a few months of medication trials, I manage to get some control over it and I haven't had a seizure for 5 months (unless I forgot some). Unfortunately I do feel like I lost a lot of memory of time (pretty much my entire 25th year). Overtime, something That I found helps with my focus was playing a videogame that requires a lot of focus. Overtime I feel like i've managed to regain some memory and focus capabilities. Another trick that I've found helpful is listening to audiobooks as it requires a lot of focus on semantics, syntax, grammatical structures, and so on. Yes I have memory issues at the moment they want me to talk to 3 physiatrist and take memory test. But this whole process really makes me think of my past and puts me in a negative mindset

I have had three Seizures over the past year and a half. I am 72yrs old. Two were night time and one daytime. I was put on Levetiracetam which seems to have helped. Since then I have some memory problems. I have also been told I have had a heart attack in the past which was many years ago from an accident that caused a left arterial thrombosis in my mid 20's. I do suffer from occasional near blindness and numbness in my left eye and head which became very noticeable in the early to mid 80's and continues to this day. I was recommended for heart valve replacement back around 2013 but the surgeon told me I was not ready for one at that time. Since having the Seizures I have been studying up on them. I may have had a Seizure shortly after the thrombosis because as I recall their was a time for several minutes I was aware of everything around me but I could not move or talk. And over the years I have woke up in the morning realizing I had bitten my tongue or cheek and have blood on my pillow. My wife tells me I snore at night because I lay on back.

I’m finding that I have to write myself notes for important events or necessities and tape them to my bedroom door. I leave my medication bottle in a certain place and then remove it after being reminded to take my med. Do things while they’re on my mind.

I am waiting to get into a neurologist my appt is not until Nov I been thinking I was losing my mind. I'm only on keppra idk if it's helping or not. I've not had a pass out seziure since about 17 in one night June 12 2022. I was thinking maybe keppra was making me worse. I thought of stopping meds but I'm so afraid to have the grand Mal kind again. I choose to wait till I see neurologist. Thanks tho this video helped me so much thanks for your time on this. Speech pathology for a year. I write lists if I have a lot to remember. Keep my meds in my pocket and anywhere close by. I understand it is the result of severe trauma and accept I will be a rancho scale 6-7 now. They told me it would take time for my brain to rewire. Maybe never at all.

The anticonvulsants cause memory loss faster and more severe than the seizures do. In 2020 I increased the dosage of one of my meds and immediately it was as if I was suffering from dementia while experiencing the ticking that a drug addict coming down off an addiction would be experiencing. The ticks went from 1 per day to 4-5 per every 3-4 minutes. I've noticed that every 4 years I have to lower the dosage due to side-effects. Based on my understanding of how anticonvulsants are digested, I'd guess I'm suffering from fatty liver disease and every 4 years my liver detoxes to make room and improve liver function. I've tried to convince my practitioners of my concerns for my liver but, they all ignore me and without doing any reputable tests other than ALT, AST, BILIRUBIN. The bilirubin has been at concerning levels each time. Each practitioner says the same thing: Your liver is fine. That answer avoids answering the question. I've spoken with 4 practitioners over the past 2 years.

Epilepsy meds can cause memory loss especially over the long term. I read how Carbatrol can cause dementia, possibly others over the long term can too. All these meds must have side effects we are not told about.

Yes there are some limited articles about this but the reliable studies showed no association between antiseizure medications and dementia. Yes it can cause memory loss but not dementia

Hey thanx for the detailed video. My sister has TLE and recent MRI suggest MTS. I have seen that her memory is in general fine when there is no seizure, but with every seizure there is some memory loss. She is on 1. Brivaracetam 200mg 2. Lacosamide 400mg 3. Clobazam 15 mg Note that clobazam 15 mg helped stopping her seizure which in turn helped with memory. Can you give guideline how we can improve the memory by changing our life routine ?

Am just 26 years of age, for years now I have been struggling with seizures that occur in different forms, my very first experience was nocturnal, then it moved down to absent seizures (here I completely loose consciousness). Presently I have more of nocturnal seizures, involving jerking and mouth injuries.On very rare occasions,I experience seizures during the day. Now I find it very difficult remembering things such as past events, people and names, movies have seen,and discussions. Getting standard medical care here in Nigeria is a problem. My life is really annoying, please any guide or help from you would really be appreciated, thanks.

My first siezure, at 26. I think this is the correct medical terminology, it was what is called a doozy. It happened 1987, 4 weeks post Lumbar Laminectomy, very successful. Prior to the surgery I was put on Prozac, the shiny new med that could cure everything. Over 6 months and despite my saying I'm not depressed, just fix me, I was on 4 meds after the prozac, the last being Ludiomil. They all caused some type of CNS type problem from tremor to shaking, mid speech my throat would just lock. My gut told me to just stop taking it, lie. But I was trying to be compliant. I have epilepsy because the makers of Prozac wanted more money and despite the fact Ludiomil was known for seizures, an antidepressant was part of the popular regimen. That first seizure took 3 years of memory. I have problems with seizure meds. I prefer having white bloods cells always to having a bitch of a seizure every 6 to 8 years.

I just recently had a number of seizures (they were, uh... the type that's, uh... worse... I could look it up, and I should probably know it, but I figured this was a decent, and very real, example) in a few hours' time. I don't remember anything that happened at the time, any of the times they happened, nor the doctors that helped me; I remember being scared. That's it. And now, it's weeks later (I think; the most recent one could easily have been yesterday, but I know it wasn't because my entire body doesn't hurt), and I'm still having memory issues, both short- and long-term memory issues, and I literally can't remember things just happened to me. It's the scariest, most awful, most depressing feeling I've ever experienced. ...status epililepticus. I've just recently started staying by myself during the day. I get lost in my own home. I lose track of time even when trying to focus on it. The medications are sleep-inducing and likely memory-diminishing, but the last time they tried to switch my anti-seizure meds, guess what? I had another seizure. So now I live in fear of an unseen, deadly foe striking me without warning. More memories vanishing, ones I know I treasure, or treasured, simply gone in what feels like an instant.

I also started having seizures/epilepsy 15 years ago as a result of fatal motor accident and am also having the loss of memory and difficulty learning my language. I told my doctor he gave me Tegretol, Cognium, Folic acid and on my own am taking reload(women formula). Am also complaining of weakness and I was given Vitamin E. Are they okay for me Dr. ??? Thank you for the video Dr Danoun. Very interesting. My partner has Multiple Sclerosis and had an occasional mild seizures before 2020 with no effects. In 2020 he had a massive cluster seizure and ended up in ICU for 1 week. They could not find out why he had this massive seizure attack. After one week they found he had a lesion on the hippocampus frontal lobe and that has caused him to have a short term memory loss. Neurologist has prescribed him with 1500mg of Levetiracetam for MS, and for epilepsy Lacosamide. Both of these meds are prescribed with a high dose. Do you think that that one day it will be possible to reduce these or even eliminate them or would such high doses cause him even worse memory loss? Since coming out of hospital he has a big belly which we think was caused by meds. He does fitness and eat well but still he cannot shift his belly. Any advice on all this?

My family knows not to tell me when I am trying to find a word. It helps me if I describe it. I know what it means, how its used and talking about it helps. However, this is hard because I love my words, I've always been a storyteller, if after describing the word, and trying to remember it by going down different "tracks" my train of thought may have gone, I've taught myself to drop it and leave it alone. It may come or I'll read it or hear it but tearing my hair out only buries it deeper.

I have focal epilepsy, and I guess I have an attention problem. It interferes with my work (I am a medical doctor), but also at home. I often mishear things, or remember them wrong. My daughters sometimes percieve this as me not being interested. And that really hurts, for that is definetely not the case

Hello Dr Omar, I have temporal lobe epilepsy and my memory is awful and when I type out messages out to friends on social media I keep typing them out wrong and when I’m talking to my parents and my boyfriend in person I keep saying things wrong, do you think that’s cognitive issues? I’m 48 and I have frontal lobe epilepsy. All my seizures have been nocturnal. I’ve found no matter the medication I’ve been on, word recall has always been hard. Trokendi seemed to be worse medication when I was working in a high pace, on my feet environment where I needed to respond quickly. All of the medications have made me fatigued.

@@zsoltferencz5407 Mine are controlled for the most part. I only have clonic-tonic seizures about once every 2-3 years now but we’ve found I must stay on medication. I do have small 10-20 second seizures where I space out right before my monthly now since I’m “aging”. I usually get a migraine the day before or day of. When I have the tonic-clonic, it’s almost always during a time of stress overload, time constraint where I haven’t taken my medication at the same times daily and working too much and/or I’ve taken something to lower my seizure threshold. It’s usually all in combination. Usually, I’ve got so much going on during that time in my life that I probably could see the signs but tend to ignore for everything going in my life at the moment. When I’m not overwhelmed with activities, work, life or whatever it may be I try to set an alarm on my phone to take my medication at the same time daily, I eat as clean as possible with at least one large leafy green salad a day, take way more vitamins than my husband likes ($$) and do my best to not overwhelm my schedule because I know what that does to me personally. Oh, I’m on zonisamide and keppa. Thank you and same to you.

@@k2reeves thank you for taking time to reply. Yeah, same for me. If I am stessed, or not being able to sleep at least 6 hours high chance I will be having a seizure shortly. I am on lamictal 100-100 and 200 before sleep but if I am really tired sometimes meds can't help me either. Also based on your experience do you have a problem remembering stuff. I am not saying it happens a lot but sometimes I want to go to the kitchen to grab an apple and until I get there, like 3 seconds I forget what I wanted to go to the kitchen for. Should I be worried about this? Is this a start of Alzheimer or just a simple side effect? Have a nice day 😊

I'm noticing I can't remember a lot of the words for things, as well forgetting constantly what I did with things and lots of long term memory is gone now and I don't remember till someone brings it up and then I pretty much say I remember but it takes days sometimes to remember what they were talking about. Dr.s say I have a seizure disorder that presents as temporal lobe epilepsy but they can't find anything on eeg. If I don't wake up all the way I will forget days. I've had this happen twice and forgot 3 days and then five. But they say seizure disorder and I can't get a lot of my questions answered because to them it's not epilepsy it's a mental problem

I was diagnosed with temopral lobe epilepsy but my memory was fine and I'd have seizures once or twice monthly. I got placed on Ritalin in November 2022 but since I've been on the Ritalin my memory has been poor. Could my memory loss been triggered by the ritalin or what could be the cause?

I've had epilepsy for about 10yrs now. (Mesial temporal sclerosis) I've been taking keppra and lamotrigine, I take around 3000mgs of keppra and 600mgs of lamotrigine daily. Lately (probably 2yrs now) ive had memory decline, its gotten to be very frustrating especially for my wife. I still have seizures from time to time even on medication, yet nothing seems to change with my memory. It doesn't get any better, just worse, is there anything I should have checked or looked at again? Thank you for any info on this situation.
