When I planted seeds for the first time with really young kids, I bought the mature fruits from the grocery store and paired the pepper from the store witb the baby pepper plant growing inside. This helped them understand what the plants were and why we dont rip them out/ mess with them.

That’s a great way to make that connection for them. Fun idea!

I'm so glad you posted this because I have been wondering how you garden with young kids. Mine are 2 and 5 and I get so frustrated because they seem to want to undo a lot of my progress. But you're right, I need to be more grateful they are wanting to be involved.

I feel you, I get so frustrated myself. It is the opposite of productivity half the time but when we step back and look at the big picture its the reason for the garden in the first place!

@@TheUrbanHarvest So true! They're a big reason to have the garden.

This is such a wonderful video. I am a gardener because my parents were patient and encouraging, my daughter is now doing the same with her own children and so it goes on. I see it as my parents legacy x

I so agree with you. I love seeing my kids run around the garden. The baby loves to pick peppers. He is so cute when his hand are full of under grown ones. I saw my father in the garden and it took me a while to have my garden. But what you learn, you never forget. ❤

Thank you for the video, great tips and lesson on patience for the parents lol. Do you have any tips for gardening with kids that are crawling-newly walking?

Adorable! Made me think of the days when my daughter would come home from school and want to check to see if a kumquat or a cherry tomato was ready. Now I wish I had had the foresight to plant more back then....but she grew up to be a plant lover, inspite of my lack of green thumb.

Loved this video! I used to be a Montessori guide and I just love how you are encouraging your children to learn so authentically. You did such a beautiful job of sharing through your video!

Very cool idea for a video. My daughter loves to help in the garden, but my son couldn't care less. Hopefully with your tips he'll take a little more of an interest.

Shout out from Wesley chapel. I have a one and a half year old and we are trying to get her into the gardening mindset. So far she only likes climbing all over the piles of wood chips but it's a work in progress.

That’s the start! Free play outdoors. She will naturally gravitate to it!

It’s my oldest preschool just like a school would focus on maybe bilingual or religion or tech. Her school focuses on teaching the kids about growing food, where food comes from, and appreciation for natural ecosystems.
