I stand by the idea that breaking glass to save people from the other side who are dying of a poison gas of an unknown toxicity is probably a terrible idea
Ok, The Darkness one made sense. The Darkness was literally holding you up and off the ground. It forced you to not do anything. It had nothing to do with glass
I don't understand why the darkness was refusing to break the glass until after she was dead..... At which point it did so with absolutely no difficulty.
(fallout 3) I managed to kill the guy before he got to the water purifier, but apparently that broke the game.. I mean not my fault I outmaneuvered the glass.
To be fair, Nova 6 is a gas. Breaking the glass just lets it out of the room it's trapped in and into the room you're standing in, so instead of watching someone die, you'll die along with them
Not to mention all of the all of the ones in space probably are made of Aluminum Oxynitrite (AKA transparent aluminum, which is a real thing. A half inch of it is enough to stop a 50 BMG).
Mathieu Shifera to leave them there. Generally in those situations, it’s better for whoever’s on the safe side of the glass to live, compared to risking all lives involved.
@@mathieushifera9555 thats the military's protocol for any lives in danger. suppress the threat to yourself before attempting to do anything toward group survival. the exception is the combat medic, whose job is to treat anyone who can be reasonably treated with the given tools while said people are in a location where the medic himself is relatively safe. therefore, if a vehicle is burning and there is a person trapped inside, especially in the situation the game opens in, that person is going to die and there is nothing anyone in the immediate vicinity can or should do about it.
I really really want to see this trope being parodied to death. NPC: Uhh, Player? Could use some help here! (Is cornered by monster.) Player: Oh sh**! (Bangs on the glass. Really hard.) NPC: It's okay, he fell over. And can't get up. Wait, is that poison gas? Player: (Using a power drill) I'm coming to help as fast as I ca- NPC: Wait, no, that's just a leaky valve. (fixes) There. Oh, sh**, the monster's getting up. Player: (Using a powerful laser weapon) HANG ON!! NPC: Oh, the monster was friendly. He gave me a cookie, see? Hey... is that a detonation timer I hear? Player: (Using an Anti-Higgs-Field-Sword and it's still not working despite being a literal matter-disassembling weapon) WHAT!! THE!! HE**!! IS!! THIS!! MADE!! OF!?!? NPC: (Opens the door.) My mistake, those numbers were the code for the keypad. Player: Oh, thank heavens, I thought you were going to di- (A black tendril stabs the NPC and drags him through the door on the other end of the room. You can't help because the door closed automatically.) Player: OH, COME ON!!
*Meanwhile, in an underground government science facility* Scientist: *(Bursts through doors)* General! WE DID IT!! After burning through billions of taxpayer dollars and running countless tests, we finally created the *best* survival weapon for our virtual soldiers!! General: Brilliant! What is it, doctor? A mecha-suit? A sword attached to a shotgun? A drug that makes you invulnerable? Scientist: BETTER!!! *(Presents a small knife-like tool)* It's a small tool that can cut the strongest shield in video games; ordinary glass! Imaging the countless player and NPC lives that can be saved if we equip gamers with this! General: .... A glass cutter? ....... That's *PERFECT!*
I feel like too many people forget that the glass used in labs and on military vehicles are designed to not break which is why most of the scenes happen in labs.
I've always assumed that same glass was the kind used for the windows (makes sense to keep her safe from splices) the kind designed o take a ton of force (since it's holding back the ocean) which is why it took a Big Sister's super knife to slice through it since it's not as strong to cleaving.
In DOOM 2016, you end up not being able to kill Olivia Pierce as you see her board an elevator to the top of the Argent Tower... through a glass window. DAMNIT DOOMGUY JUST USE THE BERSERK POWERUP!
You know, there is such a thing as plexiglass or bulletproof glass, which is damn near impossible for someone to destroy by hand, unless they're given an hour or two in addition to a sledgehammer or the like. To break it quickly you would need either a high powered rifle/sniper rifle with armor penetrating rounds or a rocket/grenade launcher(the latter would almost definitely kill the rescue target). Many military complexes, armored vehicles and some normal military vehicles use these kinds of glass, and all space shuttles and stations use it.
I just think it's hilarious to use any adjectives for alien isolation other than..most padded, drawn out full door opening game ever that occasionally has a really goofy xenomorph.. It looks gorgeous but that game is a 2 hour indie game stretched into a 20 hour droning plodding busywork game
@@KaladinVegapunk Also, about halfway through, it becomes android isolation. Then you basically ditch the whole stealth bit entirely and just flamethrower your way through everything.
To be fair, bulletproof glass is generally really resistant and the Russians that got betrayed had no weapons. And Kane was being eaten from the inside out by nova 6
That glass was almost definitely reinforced. It's the execution chamber of a police station. Obviously someone literally being led to the gas chamber isn't gonna care if they get gunned down so they're probably gonna try to BREAK that glass. So obviously it's REINFORCED GLASS WHICH IS HARD TO BREAK
Watches this video, sees Fallout 3, remembers Fallout 4... watching from behind glass as your wife/husband is shot and your baby taken. Even getting a button prompt to bang on the glass... sad times.
@@loganfaye1314 Yes, repeatedly using a variety of methods. If your bad DNA brings evil into the world, it's up to you to remove it, it's a horrible weight upon your shoulders, but you must do your duty to humanity. If my son in real life was a serial killer, I would turn him in without hesitation.' Father' had to die.
So, actually, fun fact about glass on vehicles, especially military vehicles, it's much, much, much, much, much harder to break by simply kicking or punching the center. IF you want to try to break the glass on car door windows, you need to strike the outer edges. Even still, though, once again, military vehicles are kinda tougher than civilian vehicles, what, with having to try to contend with bullets more than they do fists or boots.
RRRnGAMES I was just about to comment this. The first guy burning alive in the CoD section was behind "bullet proofed" glass. You're not breaking that with your foot or a shovel in a timely manner
RRRnGAMES Looked to see if someone else understood the point behind the black-ops deaths, every one of them happened behind bullet-resistant glass, it even says so in the black ops one scene where Mason kills the German.
How is Ellen even able to tell we can't hear her through the glass? Is she psychic, too? And if that's the case, why couldn't she warn us about the video not uploading properly? I thought we were friends, Ellen!
Eh, James was behind the camera letting her know we can't hear her... even though she is mic'ed and it worked at the nearby store several times before... They must have bought a really special piece of glass to block that signal... But if they only bought one piece of glass then.... AAGGGHHHH MY HEAD!!!!! Too many plot holes!!!!
LOOKS AT HORRIFYING HUMANOID ZOMBIE-ISH MONSTER RESPONDS WITH: "Stay back, don't come any closer." AS IF IT'S GOING TO COMPREHEND WHAT SHE'S SAYING AND MAYBE LISTEN
How about Bioshock 2? After going through the entire game Sophia Lamb suffocates Elanor just as you were about to rescue her because you were behind a glass that, despite being a seven foot killing machine wielding a power drill, you can't break.
Especially more surprising when you remember that the first Big Daddy you encountered in Bioshock broke through glass easily with a splicer as a weapon...
Grunts from Halo. They may be midgets with virgin rage compared to Master Chief, but those buggers are roughly 4-foot something, and hot plasma doesn’t exactly do wonders on exposed skin.
How about that one security guard in SCP contaminant breach, who is murdered by SCP-096 because we see simply couldn't open the door because of SCP-079
I love how in Black Ops 3, even though the teams have dealt with GAS MURDERING PEOPLE... They don't have gas masks. Yet in Stargate SG-1 they always carry a standard gas mask for biological outbreaks and gas attacks, along with nifty sticks of some sort of crumbly stuff they smear on their hands. Difference between good writing and bad writing xd
I honestly found the scene of Jenny's death much more affecting in the comic. There Frankie just sent Jackie a VHS tape he viewed in a motel room. So by the time he watched that Jenny was already long dead.
The Fallout 3 one you actually can’t save him even if was in the room. :c I had a save where I managed to get into the room cause the air lock hadn’t locked yet and killed the guys before they killed him then he dropped dead anyways. Was a sad day when I thought I had finally beaten that evil glass.
now do a video about tragedies that could have been prevented if only there was no cutscene. We could have saved John Marston and killed all of those guys, if it were up to us
Open Kram Assassins Creed Unity too, the game even lets you run so you have the illusion you can save Elise But they just kill her and make you miserable for the rest of the game
I haven't finished the video yet, but your girlfriend getting shot by your uncle in the darkness better be here. Bonus points because Jackie is the only video game character I've ever seen commit suicide
The Darkness is underappreciated in general. The Hell level is one of the most butt-clenchingly unnerving things I've ever seen in a game, horror or otherwise.
Who was that mysterious stranger doing the Black Ops entry? Will anything about his identity ever be revealed beyond the enigmatic codename "Mike Channell"?
Still have no idea why the soldiers in Tesla power armour died before the two guys wearing absolutely no radiation protection. Also I was certain at the end someone was going to appear behind Ellen with a knife 😂
...what the hell is going on, why does this video refuse to play at all??????!!!!!! (I opened another video and it worked perfectly, so my computer suddenly just refused to play this one...)
Must be Pierre the Mime King from the excellent No One Lives Forever 2. Look up “NOLF2 tricycle chase” sometime. It’s a damn shame that we’ll never get another one of those games. Hell, or even a rerelease on gog.com. Stupid lawyers...
Well in the Darkness Jackie couldn't get through the glass because the Darkness wouldn't let him. It wanted him to lose the one thing keeping him from turning to all out wanton violence. Also it's not "Penny" it's Jenny lol
I can think of a few more also from Dead Space. That game was just brutal for people who have a fear of not being able to help other people who need help but are trapped behind glass. It’s called Ohnocanthelpaphobia, it’s more common than you think.
The APC in BO 2 was a Buffel APC an armoured, mine protected vehicle. That glass is meant to stop bullets btw, but fun fact the driver compartment of the Buffel is open at the top. It has no roof. If the game was accurate the driver could just climb out the top.
If you ever do a Commenter’s Edition for the video where you listed times where video games take creative liberties with historical figures, I nominate every historical figure in any of the Warriors games set in a historical setting (the Three Kingdoms Era in Dynasty Warriors, the Sengoku Jidai in Samurai Warriors, and the Hundred Years War in Bladestorm).
I'd put George Washington and Abraham Lincoln from the Conduit 2 on that list as well. Unless they really were both Space Marines... or whatever they were.
Wait wait wait... you're telling me things like a giant paint brush and a flute were not considered viable weapons of war back then?? That simply can't be true
Maybe in assassin’s creed syndicate when I think it was in sequence 4 when you were in the hospital or asylum. So you are trying to find the target who is a sadistic doctor. Then you see him through a window with a blood hand mark in it. Common the character have a pistol, he could just simply shoot the doctor from there and the mission was over.
Cynistrelle Cadrelle however when you kill him in the correct way you expose yourself to everyone in the room and the guards began to chase you. The point is that they saw Jacob’s face and it was 19th century.
"Killing Jenny was just about the dumbest thing the mob could've done. See, because without her, Jackie not only had nothing left to live for; he had nothing left to lose."
Well the glass on the military vehicle is understandable. It’s usually outfitted with bulletproof glass so the fact that he could even crack it as much as he did with a shovel is impressive in its own right since it would take a large amount of force to even put a crack in it.
I'm glad to see Oxtra taking a crack at glass in order to shatter its status in games! It can be a real pane when you have to look in the mirror! I bet that cut deep!
U.S. Army soldier here, the Humvee armored windows can withstand quite a bit of punishment from regular rounds, including surviving for a while under the heavier 7.62 round. Breaking it is NOT easy. Although there are latches that enable you to pop it open in case of emergency, try thinking straight while set on fire.
That was sad alex lost all her items and steve had to go all the way back to the spawn point to give her items back when they were so close to being done with their quest to the far lands
Transformers Fall Of Cybertron, you just stand and watch as Starscream slits the throats of your Autobot Allies as he proceeds to mock you and give death stares to you
