Thank you very much for this video! It's great to see you playing the Duel. It may seem longer but it worth it! :) The Agora expansion looks very interesting, looking forward to get the physical copy.
thanks a lot for the games. i like that you let the mouse coursor on the cards so we can read them. I order the boardgame and I do learn from you actually.
@@BoardInTheHouseBGAplayer what’s funny is I watched this almost 4 months ago but now I am the master. I would have done at least 4 moves differently but that’s because I understand how Agora is played. I’d almost love to do a video explaining the different ways to win and what is most likely. Or do a guess the move for this video lol.
It looks like with these expensions they try to solve one thing, only to create two new problems. In pantheon they try to solve turn order. But it ends up being a mess. In agora they try to make military and blue stronger, but now science is bad.
Agree with you, but those are very tough problems in game design. I really like how they try to make bold choices and it's understandable that they will misfire sometimes. This expansion is geared toward combo players and people who don't want this game to end on points most of the time.
@@WonderfulPlays Yeah, it can be tough, but im still surprised they didnt catch this in playtesting. Why didnt they give science a little boost so it doesnt fall behind? A smaller one than for blue/red, so it balances out. Also i dont really like the alternate win conditions, since they feel more geared towards an unlucky card flip win. At least with the politics cards you can see one is coming from the black card back. Actually, im interested what would happen if all card backs were colored (green/red/blue) so you what kind of card was coming up, but you werent sure which specific card. You would have to rebalance some other things to make up for it (like double turn wonders being even more powerful), but maybe that makes it less dependent on the luck of the draw.
Science victories were in my opinion already the most difficult ones to achieve. Getting a science token is helping your game though, so you can't write it off entirely: recruiting senators for free with the corruption-token can be quite nice.
I think it's too early to tell cause the senate is new and all players try to use new mechanics, so obviously, they are overrated right now. Also, I don't understand what's wrong with Pantheon, I think it's a brilliant expansion that solved a lot of problems of the base game with a slight loss of ellegance.
