the 1970 road runners were really beautiful , had a neighbor who bought one new when I was just a kid in junior high. Really appreciate the grille style and rear tail lights on this model !! I think of all the years these were made the 1970 model was the least appreciated , and I think the reason was that the superbirds took away all the attention from any real focus on these cars that particular year . It was a great time to be a young person who could appreciate these cars when they were being released !!!!!!
The '68-'70 Roadrunner is a beautiful car, but I think the thing I like most about the styling is the rear roofline/B pillar. They flat out nailed it. To me that is the defining characteristic of that body style.
@@Jpw824 Yes, and I'm glad it still is. So many of these cars rusted away over time, and some of them met a fate worse than death. Some POS destroyed them with 30" GHETTO REEHUUMS, lowered them, made body modifications, did all sorts of terrible things to them. But the worst thing of all has to be those huge GHETTO REEHUUMS with no actual tires.
it seems that every muscle car from 65 thru 70 was beautiful. I remember that a gas station owner bought a white 1966 Chevy Biscayne with a 427 in it. After I realized what it was about it made a lot more sense. But I loved my 1967 Dodge Dart GTS with a 383, 4 bbl. Hurst 4 spd. and headers. One of a kind, even today. Too bad my dad sold it when I got shipped off to Germany.
There were a LOT of beautiful cars made back then. While I own a 1972 Chevelle, if I could have any car I wanted and still have it be a Chevy, it would be a 1957 2 door Bel Air Sport Coupe (no center post) They don't make anything now but garbage. I can think of hundreds of vintage American cars I like, and many I love, but there isn't a single car made today that I want, or would even want to be seen driving.
I had a buddy in HS who had a '68 GTX. This was like 1974-75, so this car was still in very good shape, and had been mildly "worked". It was a black-on-black beauty, nothing fancy, just a machine purpose-built to do one thing: HAUL ASS in a more or less straight line down the road. 440 Magnum with a Torqueflight. It sounded just *PISSED-OFF*, is the best way to describe it, LOL.
Beautiful a coupe runner with the centerline 👍🏻 , a pure muscle look. , AND the most rarest bird , the only year 70 , new sheet metal , grille , Tail lights , air grabber , bumpers ,etc. 💯🍻
I have owned a '68 Roadrunner for 38years here in the UK, the '68 was the car that started the whole "Musclecar" thing, the word "Musclecar" never existed before 1968 and the glorious RR. nice car
Yay! Finally recommended was worth watching 👍 Awesome car, I had one inn 1981 for about 4 years. Was originally yellow but was Red when I bought it. My pipes came out in front of the rear wheels and I haven't heard anything like it since! I could let off the gas from wide open and it just had a hell of a sound. Thank you for posting 👍 sounds tough and looks great.
Those Centerlines takes me back to 1979 I was about 13 or 14 I will never forget the yellow 69 Super Bee in 1979 for sale for1900 bucks! Had your exact stance yours is just as cool!
Jeff I'm right there with you bro. We revered all of these muscle cars when we were in high school. They were so bitchin. I remember a lot of muscle cars with centerline rims and wide stickies in the rear. They screamed, "wanna race?" Those were some fun times right dude? Those were our "Happy Days" for us man. Happier times. 👍👍✌
adjusted for inflation 1900 comes to 8000 now we need A adjusted for inflation COOL FACTOR. PRICELESS Covers all these rides or between 60k 100k or more much more
VERY NICE ROADRUNNER! Dam i remember driving (when i was 19) my 2 of Friends had 1969 superbee's WHAT CARS, both with 383 4spds, They bought it for 800$ in 1977, and another friend with a 1970 Challenger 383 MAGNUM pistol grip 4spd,, bought for 1200$ october 1977, ALL drove very fast. So where the days long, long gone
My favorite of the Road Runners. 1970 you could get the base 383 440 4 barrel 440 Six Pack or the mighty 426 Hemi. For the first time the famous shark mouth hood scoop was added that you could open with a switch on the dash board.
In 82 I swapped the engine out of a 69 charger into my 69 Road Runner, it running about 2:30 am, did an open header test hit about 3 in the subdivision, that was my third C and I, good old days
You got to see these Mopars when they were BRAND NEW. Lucky you. I was a really small kid back then but I remember how loud these cars were. POWERFUL to my ears. I loved it. That's why I love these old Mopars. Beautiful ground pounding beasts. MADE IN USA! 👍👍
I had a 70 Roadrunner back in the day. Brown with a white top. Not vinyl, painted. 383 4 speed. I traded it to a buddy of mine for a 69 Dart 340 4 speed. Those were great days.
@@73chally49 The A body. They were light. And it was hard to beat a good running 340. Not that the B bodies were slow, they weren't. But the weight hp ratio always favored the A bodies. And the Mopars seemed to respond to even the slightest modification.
I can tell everyone right now that is NOT the FACTORY STOCK engine from Chrysler. Most of these RR came with either 440 or 440-6 BBL V8 and very few of them came with the mighty 426 HEMI. Lots of aftermarket parts on this car. It still sounds B.T.T.Bone. Rock on Mopar!!!
Are people still saying muscle cars when referring to older cars? To me that just doesn’t make any sense seeing that these cars might have put out 250 hp at the wheels back then and the cars today are putting out 3-8 times more horsepower than them .
Had a neighbour that purchased and owned a 1968 383 cid 4 on the floor Road Runner. He was incredibly rough on this car and it didn't last him very long.
I could of bought two of them back in 1990, one was yellow and the other blue, neither was wrecked just needed some work. One had the grabber hood. Could of got both for 800.00. Never bought them, because of too many other projects..
$800!!!!! For 2 of them?? Doug, is it too late for me to come over with a boot on and you bend over and I kick ya real hard in the rump? Buddy! 😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Douglas, I gotta find you a 70 Road Runner my friend. A nice one too. You really deserve to have one after reading that story. I'm even crying for you Doug. 800 BUCKS for 2 RR! That's like having two girlfriends and they're TWINS too. 🤣🤣
Watching videos like this and hearing that beautiful symphony sometimes reminds me; There are people in this world who can't understand the point of cars like this... They'd rather drive teslas and whatnot because they're "faster and modern and better looking and bla bla..." and i couldn't care less.. I'd take a v8 "dino juice" machine any day over any electric vaccuum cleaners that people call cars these days
@@joeynemeth6548 nah dont listen to this clown the centerlines are dope dude. Just wanted to say love the car. I have a 79 vette running open headers rn until i get the baffles in it sounds alot meaner then it is ahhahah only thing done to it is a cam and i gave the carb bigger jets and recurved the dizzy. Also just bought a 78 firebird im going to put ethier centerlines or those US slotted mag wheels from the 70s i love the look with some super wide tires im thinking 295/50/15 in the rear and 235/60/15 up front on 15x9 centerlines or slotted mags and 15x7 up front.
Dear new generation, please always prefer SUCH a diamond with the sound of a MACHINE instead of these "hypercar no soul sounding like a vacuumcleaner when the e-engine is off car" !!!
