21. Alpo (Even for a commercial, the idea of a family stopping traffic on a freeway to chat with a lady truck driver that they know BY NAME just to get some dog food is REALLY out there. And then everybody else on the freeway gets out too. The 70's were truly another era)

Even though my wife and I have been stuck at home during these last few days, due to the ice and snow storms, that hit our area this week, we made the best of it by sitting down together and reminiscing, while watching these classic collections of 70's commercials, bring back so many wonderful memories for both of us.Thanks for all of the hard work in recording, collecting, organizing, listing, and categorizing all of these commercials, so that others can view them, and enjoy them. Great job.

I used to work for Mr. Coffee, and we had a coffee maker just like that one in our office. It still worked as of 2007. You have no idea how many older people called us asking if we'd go back to that old design. I had people telling me that they'd had that coffee maker for 30 or 40 years and had only chucked it because it looked outdated. How disappointed they were to find that the new Mr. Coffees out there only last 2 years--TOPS.

I have a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker that is about 25 years old (1995-96 vintage). I use it about once a day, and it still works like a charm.

Avocado Green was the color of our stove and fridge back in the 70's. Harvest gold drapes in the living room and shag carpet also! LOL! The 70's, the decade of weird colors! The things you remember!

I was 7 years old in 1978. I remember wanting to watch "The Incredible Hulk" so badly because my neighborhood friends (who were my age) were talking about how cool it was, but my parents wouldn't let me watch it because they thought it was too scary.

Even in the 70s, they couldn't just let the end credits play uninterrupted. But then, I've always been a credits-watching type of person. Also, I was born in the 80s, but I love 70s colors. At least they actually USED colors back then, unlike now...

Just mentioned it and now saw your comment. Do you remember they came in the four set ?? Stove with microwave over it , dishwasher and refrigerator. Grandma still called it the ice box.

The American Airlines ad with the DC-10 at the end came out right around the time when the DC-10's were having fatal problems with the cargo door opening up in flight...

I'd say pumpkin orange too. My parents and I lived in this house in the 90s that hadn't been updated since it'd been built. The carpet was PUMPKIN ORANGE SHAG. Stuff was like 2 inches long. We had to rake it. LOL The cabinets in the kitchen were that awful green color, and I suspect the original fridge matched.

What is it about old TV commercials that today's shows lack? I think it's the quality of showmanship these ads put out that makes me so interested in watching them. I really like 80's commercials the best. Try watching some old episodes of Showbiz Pizza Place home videos from the 80's, that will really take you back! The Toyota and American Airlines ads sound a tad bit threatening when they say, "You ask for it, you get it!" and "You get what you paid for!", respectively. It just kind of sounds like they're saying, "Hey, if the service is crap, don't blame us!"

Because the Seventies had earth tones as the palette of the decade. I really didn't care for it. I loved my Grandma's and Grandpa's home. Polished hardwood floors, the bedrooms were off shades of white, ceiling fans and crisp white linens with beautiful old furniture. I grew up in the South, I'm probably what they call an old soul or something like that

Don't forget avocado green. Pictures my parents have of their apartment from around this time show avocado green shag carpeting and a matching refrigerator in the kitchen. Also, not just any yellow, but mustard yellow.

Flying High, we don't even have a Wikipedia entry! Save at Venture, save with style, even with 70s decorated sheets! They're just softener sheets, lady! It was 1978, CBS felt it was a great time to unleash their crappy special strategy! Variety shows all over, including the STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL a month away in November! End credits! Remember when networks actually SHOWED them full screen & full length?

Yes I can. My Dad was Master Control of ABC affiliate in Nashville, Tn. I went to work with him a lot, and the equipment was huge.

It was just one of those little things I did not give any thought to while watching tv until I saw what actually goes on to actually put stuff on the tv screen. Now its allot of times just a desktop pc with a playlist.

We had I think was the later in kitchen color Avocado. Those were so chic , browns and beige for most of the rest of the house, with rusts , and yellows thrown in.

if these ads are from a Chicago affiliate, why are the tv shows listed as "mountain time?" as for Coveralls bedclothes, what do you cover up with? that Cling Free ad is such a classic commercial set up "A Salute to American Imagination" looks like a knock-off of "Circus of the Stars"
