I told you before about something that the fishermen taught me. Now I come with something that you have just seen, whether you know it or not, whenever you enter an anchorage, if there are dolphins swimming in front of you, follow them, they are showing you the way. And where they start to slow down and swim in circles, that's where you drop your anchor, that's the best place to anchor.
Hi guys; I always had a small bilge pump sitting in the well of my dingy connected to a small tractor battery. It was charged when the outboard was running and worked quite well even underway. Consider setting that up. You won’t be disappointed. Love your show.
Fantastic channel! It's truly refreshing to witness genuine sailing without dramatizing waves under 3 feet and winds below 20 knots, especially when compared to other cruisers. As a fellow racer, it's commendable to see you pushing the boat to its limits rather than handling it with excessive caution.
🇨🇦 Many thanks for the BEAUTIFUL shots!!! This is truly a “Sailing Channel “ !! ❤️ Thank you from your Calgary Canada Crew admiration club 🇨🇦 ❤️ 🇨🇦 ❤️ 🇨🇦
Everywhere you all go in Patagonia it is ruggedly beautiful. Roxy sure had fun stretching her legs and playing. Kate's editing and choice of music was great, and Curtis's narration was excellent. The dolphins were magical. Yall keep having fun, stay warm and stay safe. Bill
Lots of hard work, Kate. Great job! Thanks for another awesome video, with a small lighthouse! I love lighthouses. Great scenery, and dolphins guiding the anchorage. Thank y’all for sharing with us.
Just can’t believe where ever you go, you have the whole place to yourselves. Always so peaceful and serene. I can tell you, you aren’t missing anything. Let’s see, since you been sailing the world you’ve missed out on Covid 19, the war in Ukraine, the war in the Middle East, the crazy election scandal, and the list goes on and on. Can’t wait for your next big crossing, the Pacific. Do you have plans to go down under or stay north and sail the Indian ocean? Where ever you go we will follow. ❤️🙏🏼🕉☯️☮️
You guys are awesome. Your adventure is epic. You are showing us places we will likely never see in person and doing it with respect and quiet dignity. So inspiring in so many ways. Thank you.
Hi, I just saw this episode on your out of gas issue. I think that maybe the problem is when you sail with less gas, because of the narrow and large design of the tanks the system gets air due to the heel. I own a J105 and it has happened to me more than once. I live in Chile and have sailed in Chiloe many times but never in winter. It's incredible what you have done. If you come to the central coast you can stay in Algarrobo, where i would be very pleased in receiving you in our marina where you can have have a very safe and beatiful mooring.
Thank you for sharing! We did our first ever "cruise" on a J105. We would love to swap sailing stories some time. We hope to make it futher north to greet you!
What a wonderful twilight escort into the evening anchorage by some dolphins. Great insight to realize they went going to bump into rocks or swim into kelp and get tangled. You two are blessed. Praise God ‼️ 🎉
@3:34 / 18:45 those fern looking plants look like Cycads which are pre historic plants, we have a large selection in South Africa they are very slow growing.
I have watched many of these sailing shows on youtube. Ruca is pretty heavy good. Keep it up. I am thinking different boat, Maybe Antarctica. Keep it up
Sometimes, not always, it is possible to get diesel by radio, call and a station on the coast or another boat that can sell you, or even give you, some cans of diesel.
@@freddistenbrain8287 They are getting closer to Puerto Eden, the closer they are, the more likely they are to find boats or places on land where they can get diesel.
Wonderful as ever. I'd truly love to go there. Out of interest, what is your primary source for researching good anchorages - what have you found to be the best resources?
If u let an Diesel engine run dry from fuel starvation - it is not just to fill the tank from a jerrycan and start - you must bleed the system before it can even start, was this a click beit? Anyway i like to follow u up the Chilean channels...
If you hear the RPMs start to drop and are smart you shut it down asap and don’t try to restart. We did open the tank inspection, change our primary filter, and prime/bleed the engine before re-start, we were just a little busy sailing and working to film it ;-) The cameras were all put away because we thought it would be just boring motoring!
Curtis & Kate: Shame on you for the click bait! Sounded like you ran out of fuel with 700 miles to go and had a real emergency on your hands, but in reality you had plenty on board, it just wasn't in the tank when you needed it.
How old is Roxy? I see a lot of grey in her muzzle. If I was to guess, I would say 10 years old. I want to be reincarnated as a boat dog in my next life......
