@@loweredyote8416 That’s true. The current Land Cruiser is much more inline with the original spirit of the Land Cruisers that made it a legend. The last gen grew into a very expensive luxury mall crawler.
You pay that much because Toyota last more than any other car in the world. I know a friend of mine who went 385,000 miles with this forerunner another 512,000 miles. FYI, the Land Cruiser used to cost in the neighborhood of $70-$80,000.
@@Alwaysbeclosing1774 actually the 4 banger is a Hybrid Turbo, which is a tri-motor (one gas and 2 electric hybrid motors). Note: Toyota leads the way in hybrid technology and will become carbon free by 2035. environmentally friendly is key for many companies. Tesla is already carbon free and many are following suit.
Wrong, this isnt that Toyota. Its a hybrid and you will be lucky if the battery pack lasts till 100k miles. Get ready to pay through the nose to replace it. Not to mention the ground clearance on this model is garbage.
It’s the same as the 4Runner frame. In fact same power train and everything. AND!! If you get one of the 4Runners equipped to be as capable as the LC….. same price!!
I work at Toyota of Portland in sales… A First Edition Land Cruiser is pushing 86k. They are selling with 10k markups from msrp of around 75k. I sold a Land Cruiser Land Cruiser (Middle Trim) for 7k over sticker. People want the Land Cruiser! In my 4 months of working in sales at Toyota of Portland, I have seen only 1 Land Cruiser hit the ground without being sold. And it’s a 1958 in Meteor Shower.
He is 100% correct , all the people disagreeing are just dumb . Yes Toyota is reliable but they are cheap . I would never spend $70k on a Toyota anyone that would is just buying into the hype. The old land cruisers were great but they had real engine in them not those little fake toy engines .
Dude the previous model was $80K so this is cheap. Yes it should be a little more luxury and have a couple more features but it’s a Toyota… it’ll last forever
@@ngochuybk Don't forget their is a full size Land Cruiser (LC300) not available in the USA but sold in other countries. The U.S is getting the Prado (LC250) but sold as a plain LC.
Thats cheap. Here in Finland it costs 144k€ if you want heated seats and diff lock. More when you buy winter tires, engine heater and towing hitch. And its a ~200hp 4cyl diesel.
Because the starting price for the last US edition LC, back in 2021 is $87 k. This is a bargain, it’s not even the full size one, this is the LC Prado in other countries.
Land Cruisers moved down market in the U.S. Its Lexus equivalent used to be the LX. It’s now the GX. Also, Toyota has joined rank and file with other manufacturers by compromising reliability for additional mpg’s. Gone are naturally aspirated V8’s. Now we get a four cylinder with FOUR additional potential points of failure in the drivetrain. Two turbos, a battery and electric motor. Sad… Kaizen used to mean something.
In the end, 99% of these will never go off-road; rather they will spend their lives as mall-crawlers and kid haulers for suburban moms. Do you really need an expensive vehicle with the capabilities of a Landcruiser to do that? Maybe the appeal is a market of people who want to give off a rugged, outdoorsy vibe without actually being outdoorsy.
dumb question. People keeps thinking of Toyota as this daily car that low income people buy. while there are definitely some low trim models that accommodate lower budgets, it is also true that Toyota puts quality it these vehicles. Toyota will outlast most of its competitors, will out perform most of its competitors in durability and reliability; it will deliver almost every time if you take care of it. Shouldn't that be worth se money?
I find it stupid that people assume Toyota is for poor people. Go to Japan and look at the Toyotas there. I can guarantee there’s nothing poor about thoses Toyotas
Since Toyota’s new power trains are FAILING left and right and have already been recalled, I would hesitate to buy one at ANY price. Unless you like being stranded on the side of the road because your engine blew up or your transmission failed.
I thought the Land Cruiser was their top of the line kinda luxury model, price doesn’t seem crazy to me especially 57k don’t the previous models cost a lot more?
US Land Cruiser 250 is actually a “Prado” thats why its cheaper than heavy duty LC200 series, evryone knows it (outside usa) Real deal LC 300 series which is the Worlds “Land Cruiser” is around 100,000+ usd converted, its Twin Turbo V6 like in the Lx600 but with more offroad modes
Honestly, would today’s car prices, I would expect the top trim to be closer to 100,000. The Land Cruiser is a legendary vehicle. Even well used models cost as much as these brand new.
@thatoliveguy7389 Really ? Of the hundreds of LandCruiser owners I've met here in Australia 🇦🇺 , not one of them has ever mentioned 0-60 ( or the equivalent 0-62 kph ) time . How deep it can wade , how much it can tow or its 4x4 abilities , but never how quick it can accelerate .
You're most definitely out of touch buddy. That rig right there is quite literally almost the best value for money. They've proven to be basically indestructible over the past generations and they maintain their resale value better than any other brand.
I think Dodge ruined the market. Once auto makers realized Americans are willing to pay inflated prices for cars that don't merit that price point, they went crazy.
Couldn't agree more. Toyota should be cheaper than any Ford or GM product. They don't pay union wages. Labor is a companies largest cost. And now they make the Tacoma in Mexico. The price went up, such a greedy company anymore.
It is the best suv in the world. Comfortable and lasts forever. It usually costs about 100k. I don’t know why this model is so cheaper. Maybe bit smaller
I’d say it’s coming out to be pretty cheap and that’s simply because it’s a Prado and not the LC300, cause if 300 came to US/Canada, it’d be well worth over 100K at least
I bought a used 2013 LC in December of 2013 (had 6k miles on it) for exactly $60,000. People who know 4WD SUV's know that they have been fairly high priced for quite a long time. BTW, still own that same LC and if I wanted to sell it would get $35-$40k, 10 and a half years later.
After driving my 2024 Tundra Platinum, I can tell you why I paid if you want, way more power than my Silverado, pulls a big boat through Oregon mountains like nothing, and trimmed like a Lexus!
I find it stupid that people assume Toyota is for poor people. Go to Japan and look at the Toyotas there. I can guarantee there’s nothing poor about thoses Toyotas
Bro you obviously haven’t been in the car game very long. Toyotas are at worst the 2nd best car company selling cars in the US (it’s either Honda or Toyota). If a fully loaded Ford Bronco costs $90-100k then $70k for a fully loaded Land Cruiser is a good deal. Go and buy a ford Chevy or Dodge and it’ll start squeaking & rattling around 15-20k miles - a Honda or Toyota won’t make a noise until well past 100k miles.
Because Toyotas are reliable. And these are body on frame vehicles for off-roading. And the car market is absolutely insane right now. And dealer mark-up's are extremely crazy. And Inflation is through the damn roof. Does this explain everything my young friend?
Comment section full of "reliability." Meanwhile Toyota leads in customer complaints since 2016 in the US and just had a major recall again. Apparently trying to keep ahead of Ford. Historically Toyota has a great reputation for quality but they haven't been what they were for a while now. Its time the consumer puts the pressure on Toyota by using their wallet to say "no more."
Doesn't know why he's paying so much for a reliable brand with locking rear diff, 4x4, with crawl control, with a butt load of tech, bsm, parking sensors, cameras, monitor, and the list goes on...
Most cars have those features. Technology becomes LESS expensive as time moves on. I know the heritage of the LC but I think 70k is a lil steep for a four cylinder also especially if you’re not really gonna use it off road.
This guys clearly knows little about vehicles because the Land Cruiser has always been the benchmark SUV for durability, capability, reliability, holding it’s value and the previous generation was about $20-$30K more than this new model. 😂 😂 😂
Actually its cheaper than LC200 because thats a PRADO! Maybe the reason why real “Land Cruiser” LC300 series didnt came to ur land because u guyz always complaning about the price of a “toyota”
I am not 100% sold on that hybrid system. I wanna see it operates over time being dunk in water crossing a stream or river. I would get the lexus because of that reason alone.
I heard the new land cruiser is "clunky" as far as the driving system. I wouldn't accept that from a truck that expensive. Why they just didn't put the 4.7 in it is beyond me. It cost just as much or LESS to put a 4.7 in it than it does a cheap electric motor and a chinsy engine killing turbo. Why is Toyota dropping the ball instead of fighting for their right to produce their cars well and the way they want to. No body knows how to fight anymore and that's why all these car reviews by men are ultra feminine. They are marketing to weak people.
Absolute garbage, Toyota is going downhill fast, pushing way too much hp out of a small i4T motor in a full size SUV, the only reason Toyotas were EVER reliable was because of an extremely low hp NA v6, should’ve stuck too it, gonna see a lot more issues with them soon
Not everyone is impressed by a luxury brand name. The Land Cruiser has been known to be one of the most reliable and rugged cars ever made. They were overbuilt to last 20+ years without having any major issues, and that’s aconservative estimate. You might laugh at someone spending $70k on a Toyota but many of the people buying this car see it as spending $70k on a car they’ll drive for 20 years. A comparably priced luxury car won’t last nearly as long, will cost more to maintain, and you’d have changed vehicles at least once, likely even twice in the time you’d need to change the Land Cruiser.
eveyone saying the price is justifiable is crazy i own 2 toyotas and im not buying this for the msrp and to say its gonna last is wrong this engine is new and already had huge recalls on the tundra check JD power 2014, then 2024 its not the same toyota.
Toyota Land Cruisers specifically use a different tier of parts engineered exclusively for them which are intended for durability and reliability above and beyond the already top tier that Toyotas are known for. This is the reason Land Cruisers are the de facto standard vehicle chosen for the toughest terrains in the world, nothing comes even close.
No, you’re right. I felt the same way when I saw the price. It’s not luxurious or big enough to drop 70K on. But you’re talking to someone who was shocked to find out Cadillac Escalade is a $100K car 🤯 to me it’s no Range Rover or G Wagon
Because that 60 grand Toyota can be BEAT ON and drive home every time, and more capable reliable than any POS UTV side by side. And because your great grandkids will be driving it still
I would spend because of resale value and low maintenance cost. The specs are not market leaders but not out of line with competition. The other cars you'd be happy to spend on cost more but lose value to depreciation big time and suck your pockets dry on maintenance. Personally I like the look of it
So what u can drive a hilux for example for 400k miles and dont need to worry about stuff (only if you do regular service and maintenance) that’s why they are so expensive i‘ve seen toyota hilux‘s with well over half a million miles and they still run and do overland stuff in island or Sibiria so yeah just do some research before you complain about price the same goes for landrover defenders especially the older ones pre 2016 those things lost work if you take care of them
