if there is one advice I would give before sailing offshore for more days with people = get together and talk, discuss about the boat, etc etc AND GO SAILING. for me this is the duty of the captain to protect the crew, for a day sail no problem but for crossing one ocean you need to feel good with the people. well done!!!!! it looks like you had a success
32:41 This must be difficult to assert how each of you feel about a stranger on your boat. You have to honest with each other, no pretending everything is. Ok. I would suggest you each keep a diary, which you can refer to after the test sail. It’s your boat Pat and you know where everything is, but it’s different for a new crew member. I would prefer to have a total of four crew for an Atlantic crossing. It’s a long way and it can get really rough, but you know this. I hope you all consult which way to sail (direction) if you do come across a big storm in your way. Good luck.
You'll be fine across the Pacific... That vegetable is Bok Chow. Great sauteed in butter with garlic, ginger bacon and sweated with light soy... On rice with Bok choy covered in pan fried fish chunks... Yum...
Am working backwards after finding yr one-year q n a, which was excellent. N now yr plan of a test run around the islands, from provisioning to new potential crew... very good thinking. And as you mentioned in the q n a -- communication, communication is key. So easy to fall into being alone together, just like in past 9-to-5 life...

Thank you. We liked it, too. That’s true, depending on the conditions it could be very challenging. To avoid this we try to prepare as much as we can - makes life easier for us during a passage.
Good preparation, however, you can't prepare for everything on an ocean crossing. The ever-changing movement of mother nature will see to that. My struggle was boredom the (doldrums) and a good night's sleep. Then we had the adrenaline rush of a storm with 30 knot winds. Looking back, it was my greatest adventure.

So at the moment the three of us (Frankie, Pat and Ricardo) are confirmed and we are also talking to a fourth person with whom we have already sailed several hundred miles. But three is fine for us too!
Are you guys looking for more crew members? I have the RYA competent crew certificate and I'm actually studying for Day skipper :) I think I would love to do my first passage with you guys!
Thank you so much for your kind message. Unfortunately we are not looking for more crew at the moment because we were lucky to find a crew for the crossing - maybe the next time! But there are several platforms where you can look for a boat. We cross fingers that you find a boat/crew for your first passage 🤞🏻
